Player Database Check
08-25-2013, 06:04 AM
Okay guys, due to extreme complications, confusions; etc, I need everyone to merely post basically a "here" message letting me know that everyone is good on the player database. If any accounts are missing beside your name I would love if you could tell us, please provide a link to any missing accounts. If you aren't on the player database, go ahead and start linking me your accounts. I apologize for the major complications.
Also, Alacritis was never made to be a fast-paced site, it has merely become such. However, this does not change the fact that we've never really /wanted/ to require excessive things from members, and I still don't think we should be, if everyone could also decide, just with a little vote on your post, how you would like activity checks to be conducted i would appreciate it <'3
Keep in mind, this vote is letting you set the pace of the site.
option one: go ahead and do an activity check that merely acts as a player database check and is basically a role-call of you saying "here"
option 2: PD check with an in depth activity check where we will look for 5 posts per char from the recent month.

I don't really see anything bad with how it is now(for the database). Names aren't added or are removed because people are archiving and moving stuff before Viv can do anything with them, leave them there and there won't be any problems.
As the the activity check, an in depth check would be annoying since there are so many members with multiple characters and because of this some things can be missed after looking at all of it so long. I don't like the post for certain days because I won't get replies for days (from the person or from me because of muse), and I'm already in multiple threads and don't wanna add more onto it just to meet the check and lose control of what I'm in. Maybe a certain amount within the month.
- That goes with the probation thing, like if you missed the check by a day you go on probation and have your char set inactive. But then you can reapply for them but still remain on probation, I don't like that.
Not really sure what to think about the roll call idea, I like it but at the same time I don't. People can say here ut won't do anything with that character.

My names are fine on the DB :3 Tallis should be taken off, but I may be bringing him back. Not sure yet. You can go ahead and take him off for now if you'd like till I decide. (he's inactive at the moment)
As for the activity check, I like how it is now. If I had to pick one of the options, I would go with option two, but I don't really like it cause people will do the same thing they did with the old version of the activity check and just rush some posts for all their chars at the last minute and not really be active. I like the way it is now cause it's one post a week which is very reasonable and that means their chars have to be at least a little active throughout the month.

Character Database missing a name. Will post link to account in maintenance.
As for the vote I like it either as is it or a modified version of the second option. Five posts, especially when you only have one thread or so, might be a problem if the other person is not actively posting. -Shrugs.-

My PD information is all up to date and accurate, links and all.
I don't exactly understand how this decision will determine the "pace" of the site since it seems to be going incredibly fast IC even with people going in and out of scarcity with vacations and school and stuff (which is considerably more important than OOC, right?), but I guess, to me, it all depends on how strict the staff want to be on their definition of "active."
If we wanted a lax method that solely checks player activity then I would say go for the roll call style activity check. Have people state their OOC name that should be listed on the PD and then name the characters that should be there with them. Trust the player to keep things accurate and to be responsible with the characters they are going to claim. It would be less work on the staff, as far as I can see, since it would just be cross referencing to make sure everyone is listed.
But if the staff wanted to be more strict on the activity of the individual characters, then keep the method we currently have. It is no work on the player's part - aren't posts to be expected on a role play site? - but staff will need to handle this one on their own with maybe a summary post after it's all said done if they wanted to. But so long as everyone knows that one post should be expected every ten days from each of their characters it should work out fine.
As for voting, I don't think I can. I don't understand what staff want, so instead I'm just going to leave this here and yeah. o.o
