The bog was blanketed in a sickly miasma, crawling through the gangly limbs and touching the filthy, black water. Dense colonies of moss clung to the trees, hanging still in the stagnant air. And amongst the hovering gnats and unidentifiable winged-things, Karmen Roe, tippy-toeing on one of the few solid boulders in sight. How she managed to isolate herself from the pathways that lead out of this swamp still remained a mystery. Her brow furrowed in mute frustration as she peered over the edge and tried to identify her reflection.

The water belched at her and her face crumpled in disgust.

The mud and dirt wasn't her issue, in fact, Miss Roe loved getting dirty on the special occasion. But tenacious quicksand that would choke the life out of someone and deteriorate them into plant fertilizer wasn't something Karmen particularly yearned for. Her petite doll-like body would be gulped whole, effortlessly, like a swallow of water. An inaudible whine escaped her mouth as she gave up looking for an escape and flopped down on her span of rock, crossed her legs and grumpily pouted.

As much as she loved the attention, Karmen did not like being a damsel in distress.

(ooc: IM SORRY IT IS SO SHORT I TRIED :c)

Why exactly Gitan had decided to come here, he couldn?t seem to recall. He supposed it had seemed a good idea at the time but now it seemed simply horrible. The area was not at all what he had imagined, being more dismal than he?d expected and the constant threat of danger both within the water and just below his paws. The water was everywhere and so it seemed was the quicksand. He moved very carefully, pushing with each paw as before he put it down fully. More than once he had had to change his course pushing around the edge of the sink hole.

Gitan always kept the water to his right side, that way he would not be lost when he tried to leave. There was a splash and swishing just beyond the shore line and he quickly pushed farther away from the water aware of all manner of beasts that could be lurking just below the surface. There were no doubt predators who would relish the chance to get a good full meal out of a fully grown wolf and Gitan was not going to tempt it. The bayou seemed to take a turn and he followed it, to see a pretty brown woman trapped upon a span of rock. She was well off the beaten path and if he hadn?t been paying attention he might have easily passed her by.

Gitan adjusted his course turning towards the woman, moving carefully. It didn?t take long for him to realize why she was upon the rocks; the ground here was even less stable than by the path he had been following. Every step was calculated. One misstep and he would be stuck within the slow moving death trap. Soon however he found he could not move any more towards her, no matter which way he went the ground seemed to suck at his paw before he quickly withdrew it. He frowned and then looked up at the small woman again. ?Well miss, seems you?re in a bit of a pickle?? A light chuckle would follow his words. He still prodded the ground in front of him hoping to find a spot in which a wolf might walk upon.

Karmen always let her curiosity get the better of her, and that was why she was stuck on this plateau of rock, a floating platform in this swamp of sinking silt and algae. Her pastel, peridot eyes refused to search for an exit any longer, as she admitted pathetic defeat. She rolled her eyes at the bubbling mass of water in front of her, too chicken to try and test any invisible pathway that might lead her out of this hell hole. But in the distance came a hero in disguise: dressed in dark and amber browns, milky cheeks, and emerald eyes. He had a cheeky, subtly charming grin on his face, and a voice that was a fresh breath of air. He teased her about her odd predicament, and her face scrunched into a scowl, flattening her large ears against the back of her head.

Karmen had a mean beauty about her, with a stare that shows no mercy, with alluring body language like a foreign love film, and a mouth full of words that could caress or scorn you: a girl who only wants the best for herself. And granted, she was faintly disappointed at the wolf who was making his way across the filth, it was the best she was going to get. "I may be in a pickle, but you aren't exactly a knight in shining armour," she cooed to him in a semi-mocking manner, her eyes drinking in his warm appearance. A small, very tiny amount of appreciation began to build in Karmen's chest; was he really looking for a way to get her out? She arched a brow at him, observing him pawing at the sensitive top-layer of muck. Her tail began to sway back and forth "But knight or not, I'll take you."

She rose gracefully to her feet, batting her lashes in a diminutive hope that he might be her saving grace. A miniature smile touched her lips as she awaited for him to venture closer.

It was rather amusing to him to see her frown, ears back; but he resisted the urge to laugh, instead continuing to test the earth beneath his paws. It seemed that lately he had become a hero of sorts, more than once saving wolves he hardly knew. The two youths in the desert springing to mind. He would play hero once more it seemed, after all with such a lovely damsel in distress what else would he do? What puzzled him was how she had gotten out there to begin with. There had to be a path he could use to get across and then lead her down.
He chuckled some at her words, shaking his head as he found a dry patch that didn?t immediately try to suck at his paw and swallow him whole. ?I hope so madam, because frankly I?m the best you?re going to get.? His tone was light, still joking despite becoming increasingly frustrated by the path that had once more disappeared. His gaze rose as she lifted herself. Forest eyes watching her, drawing in her small, graceful form. She was easy on the eyes and he allowed a small smile.
