Why's the sun so bright?

Octave had dug out his den to be bigger than he needed by himself, big enough to comfortably fit another large wolf further in than where he usually rested. But when he woke up he couldn't help but feel like it was a little claustrophobic, the shape nestled at his side was much to big to be Noko. At first, his sleepy brain was still a bit too groggy to understand what had happened, and then the events of the previous day rushed back into his memory and Octave's eyes snapped open, swinging to look at the tiny man laying on his nest of furs. A soft gasp escaped his lips as he realized exactly what had happened, and he craned his neck to see if Noko was awake further in the den. He tried to shuffle slightly but then realized his limbs were solidly under Kite so he was quite stuck. Octave stared wide-eyed at the man, very much unsure what to even do. He could hear Noko stirring behind him and silently prayed she'd rouse quickly so they could figure out what to do together. "Ocatve" "Noko" Think You |

Strange dreams of angels and devils had plagued Kite through most of the night. There was pain in his stomach, but it had been soothed somewhat by much needed sleep. He was enveloped by warmth and it helped to ease his dreams as he focused on that warmth. He immersed himself within it, burying his face against the welcome heat. It was only when the chirping of birds met his ears that the small lad's lashes fluttered open.
All he saw at first was white and he blinked his blue eyes a few times to see if his vision would clear. He then moved his head, realizing that the white was in fact fur. Blinking again, he lifted his head, ears tucked back against his skull. Octave was there. Had he... Kite gave a little gasp as he came to the realization that the warmth in his sleep had been Octave. He had been rubbing his face against the white man's chest all through the night. Oh, that was embarrassing. Not because it was something that he didn't like, but because he didn't know he was doing it.
Drawing back a bit, Kite instantly lurched into an apology. "I'm sorry, Octave." He then looked around the den. "How did I get here? What happened?" The last thing that he remembered was eating the flavored snow and getting sick. After that, everything was an intense blur. Though he'd pulled his head back a bit, his body was definitely still pressed against that of the larger man.

Well it seemed Kite wouldn't wait for a convenient time to start waking up. Octave watched as Kite suddenly pulled back from rubbing his face in his chest, not that Octave was really complaining... But as Kite jerked back he looked down at the small man, a half-panicked expression on his own face. "Oh!" Noko's voice came from further in the den, there was a scraping of paws on stone and Noko emerged, she quickly scampered onto Octave's sides, big brown eyes looking at Kite with some amount of open curiosity. "We found you collapsed in Abaven lands." She said plainly watching the small man. "You ate some nasty flowers and hallucinogenic mushrooms. We tried to help you purge what was in your system but there wasn't much left." She gestured towards a scrap piece of pelt by the den mouth, they'd dispose of it later, not that there was much to get rid of. "Didn't your mother ever tell you not to eat strange plants?" Noko's tone was teasing. Octave for his part was observing Kite carefully, he'd gently sniff near the smaller man's head. "How are you feeling?" Noko asked. It was likely that he'd need some food in his system but beyond that they needed to make sure nothing else was wrong, he'd made it through the night though, that was a good enough sign. Noko soon arrived, hopping onto Octave and answering the question that he'd asked. The small lad blinked his two-toned blue eyes in disbelief. He didn't remember any of that. When she spoke of cleaning him out and pointed to a balled up skin by the door, he wrinkled his nose. "I'm so sorry.." Kite groaned and dropped his head to the ground, eyes shutting. How embarrassing. He'd made an ass of himself in front of this cute guy. Inwardly, he snorted. He was a mess. Maybe his family was right in sending him away. Noko asked how he was feeling and Kite gave his head a shake. Oooh... bad idea. Pain lanced through his head and he groaned again. Extracting his limbs from Octave's, the tiny wolf shakily got to his feet, then sat down hard. "Not well..."he answered Noko. "Not well at all." His stomach hurt. His head hurt. The room swam a bit. He was embarrassed. Could the day get any worse? "Thank you both for taking care of me. I'm not sure how or why I ended up on your lands, but thank you." He fought to rise to his paws again, little puff tail giving a slight wiggle. "I should get out of your fur. I've taken enough of your time."Kite locked eyes with Octave once more, smiled, and began to make his way out of the den. He had to lean heavily against the doorway as he grabbed the soiled skin. It was the least that he could do. Taking it between his teeth, he moved out into the bright light of the day. Big mistake. The glaring light of the sun instantly made his head throb and he groaned anew. Kite couldn't move immediately. He had to wait for the rise of pain to ebb first. Then he'd be on his way. "Speech" |

Kite offered an apology and both Noko and Octave shook their head in perfect unison, they were healers. Octave had faced worse than a little bit of sick. Kite winced after shaking his head and both of the healers jolted slightly. Octave's face furrowed into a frown, Noko leaned forward, concern evident on her face. For a moment they watched him try to leave as if trying to process what was happening. Then in an instant Octave was on his paws, Noko was thrown off but bounced back and raced after the form of Octave who was already out of the den. Octave saw Kite waver and instantly sidled up close to the man, offering him his own strength, hoping to help keep the man on his paws. Noko trotted out of the den. "Kite, you're not in our fur. We're healers, we could hardly leave you to suffer by yourself." She looked up at the tiny wolf, observing him with wide brown eyes. "And frankly you're in no condition to be going anywhere. You need food and you need rest. Your body's not going to be able to recover if you're pushing yourself without giving it time." Noko glanced at Octave who really only seemed to have eyes for the tiny man, though she assumed it was more concern than anything else. "It's only early winter and it's already a damn cold one, where are you going to go? You need someplace warm to sleep, hunting is going to be harder, food is going to be more scarce." She gave him a knowing look, glancing over his alarmingly thin form. "Abaven can offer shelter to those that need it, we can offer you a place to stay at least until you've had time to recover. Or until spring at the latest. We can even help you find your own place to sleep if you prefer." That was a half-truth. She'd have to talk to Theory about letting him stay but sending the man out into the snow now... well that'd pretty much be sentencing him to death. "Ocatve" "Noko" Think You |

Gods did his head hurt. The sun glaring down at him made his stomach hurt all over again. It was probably the pain in his dome that was making him nauseous, but still... why's the sun so bright? Voices behind him took a little bit of concentration to decipher amidst the hammering in his skull. Noko was essentially telling him to stay. They were healers. He should stay and be healed. "Ugh..." Kite muttered before working to turn himself around. "I'm still a burden you don't need. I don't have any skills. How would I ever pay you back?" When Noko brought up the fact that winter was upon them and was likely to be bad, Kite visibly shrank. If he didn't have a pack, he would surely die during the winter. He'd never been alone. There had always been food readily available and ample shelter. He couldn't take care of himself. His mouth in a hard line, he stared at the pair. "Would you teach me how to heal? I'm not a child at home anymore. I need to be able to contribute somehow." He couldn't hunt. He definitely couldn't fight. If he could learn to heal... Well, at least he wouldn't poison himself again, right? Fixing Octave and Noko with a frown, he shrugged. What would they decide? On another note, they said that they could find him a new place to sleep. He... really didn't want that. He'd never slept alone before leaving home and, honestly, he really liked being cuddled up with Octave. The pale man was just so big and warm. |
