Ever since hearing the story of how his father had taken down a polar bear, the young wolf was eager to try his hand at it. It sounded like an epic adventure, and coming home with a huge fluffy coat that was bigger than he was? Well, he would have a story to tell himself, for sure. He had already gone one loop over the North, and came home empty handed. He just didn’t have the knowledge to track and find a polar bear, and maybe they weren't as common as he had first thought. Coming home for a bite to eat and a rest, the pup would consider his next move. He needed intel, and how-to. He needed help to find the bear. But who could he ask? He had a feeling most of his family would try and steal his thunder (for his own sake) if they caught wind of what he was attempting. He sulked near the border after his rest, the early morning sun touching the horizon, as he stood there and considered. "Speech"

Venom found herself spending a lot of time within the Warlord’s walls. She planned on mentoring Azure, but she found herself curious about Mortis. She hadn’t seen or talked to him in a long time, and she wasn’t sure how he was developing. She remembered rather distinctly how deep his empathy ran. As though the winged boy got a double dose while Azure had none. She hoped she could help the boys to balance those attributes. If not for her future self then for Sirius.

The young Princess was on the border of the two packs, debating crossing to find Azure or train with her own mentor. When she saw the winged boy Mortis though Venom made her decision. He seemed lost almost despite being in his home. Curious, the tall girl bound forward towards the boy. Though she was mostly nocturnal the girl could appreciate such a nice morning.

”Why such a long face, Mortis?” She asked with a flick of her tongue as her thin frame appoached him.

The Heir to the Empire spoke, and the pup jumped in surprise, before turning to see her. He offered her a friendly grin, and a wag of his tail. “Hey Venom!” he said in greeting. Bounding forward to touch his nose to hers in a gesture of hello. “I’ve actually just come back from the North” shivering in memory of the cold.

“Have you ever heard of a polar bear?” he wondered. Through surely she had seen the big white coat Sirius had in the den, and perhaps even heard the story of the fight. The coat showed a creature even bigger than Sirius. Many times bigger than his bear companion. He looked up at the older wolf, a sparkle of interest in his blue eyes at the thought of taking down such a prize.

Mortis seemed more care free than Azure, he had a sparkle to his eye that the other brother couldn’t quite muster. Venom ferreted the information away with a grin as the boy greeted her by name and unhindered affection. She returned the light bit of pressure as he mentioned his return from the north and his sudden knowledge of polar bears. ”Your Empress wears one for her armor.” She told him, wondering how widely the suggestion of polar bear fur in one’s armor went. She hadn’t adorned herself with the white fur, instead choosing the black condor. Much like Azure had…

She focused on the winged boy, he was already challenging her height and she had no doubt he’d be as huge as his father was. For a moment she contemplated the boy, one brow perking as she wondered what he was getting at. ”You know you’ve got to hunt and fight much smarter against a predator like a polar bear.” Just the two of them weren’t likely to score a prize such as that alone. They’d have to devise some kind of upper hand, a tool to give them the advantage against such an incredible beast.

“Auntie Deathbelle?” he asked, like there were any other Empresses in his life. His grin only grew, and his tail took on a merry dance behind him. “I didn’t! Think she’ll let me see it some time? Did she and Dad hunt the polar bears together?” he asked, thinking about the one in their family den. He had to admit, a polar bear coat would make a wicked piece of armour. She hinted at how hard a polar bear was to hunt down, and he returned her sly smile for one of his own, wiggling his eyebrows at her. “Well. I don’t know about you, but I enjoy a challenge” he teased, all bravado. Perhaps being raised by a Warlord wasn’t terribly good for the ego. At least he still lost a few of his spars, plenty of time in those matches to bring him back to earth. He could only hope that one day he too would win almost every fight he entered in. "Speech"

In talking to both brothers Venom came to the assumption that Mortis was the less mature of the two. He didn’t seem infantile at all, but she could better see the age difference between herself and the youth than she had with Azure. She was sure both boys had been through a lot, but Azure seemed more.. focused. No there were no other Empresses, though Venom would someday soon claim the title. ”I’m sure she’d even let you try it on.” She chuckled amusedly. ”I don’t know where it came from, but she’s had it as long as my squirrel Poison has been with me.” She told him, never really having wondered where the cape came from. Perhaps Sirius had helped her kill it.

Mortis hinted that he was always up for a challenge but Venom looked him up and down with severe doubt in her gaze. ”Alright then Mr. Big Shot. How do you think you’d hunt a bear?” If she had been bipedal the girl would have crossed her arms and offered him a piercing stare. As it was she did indeed display the second.

He would dearly love to see Deathbelle’s polorbear coat, and compare it to Seer’s. It would only fuel his desire to take on a polar bear, but Venom seemed determined to talk him out of it. He frowned, but understood the importance of her question. She couldn’t go in with a half baked plan, not for something as dangerous as a bear. “Well… I would have to find one first, and then I would challenge it. Maybe i’d climb on its back, i’ve seen dad do that” he pointed out thoughtfully. Of course, he wasn’t quite as fierce, or yet as heavy, as his dad. But, it could work, right?
