Cairo padded easily along the outside of the wall, occasionally pausing to add his scent to the markers before he went on down the line. He was armored, ready for most anything today might throw at him. He was on patrol, and would be taking sentry duty that night, but for the time being, he was enjoying a lovely soft spring morning.
Birds twittered and swooped and chirped, the occasional hare bolted out of his path. It was quiet, peaceful. Chrystal was circling above, though soon enough she’d be going to her roost to sleep.
Cai drew in a breath and let it out in a contented sigh, eyes scanning slowly over the plains beyond the wall as he leapt up to the top and padded along a wide stretch, confident the wall would support him, having taken this route hundreds of times.
It gave him a good vantage point, and indeed, he spotted movement out there, though he kept his pace casual, not focusing directly on the source but watching from the corner of his eye while he monitored the surrounding lands, alert for anything else besides that first glimpse. As long as the figure stayed outside the Valhallan wall, he wouldn’t bother warning them. After all, they were on the loner side, and at perfect rights to be there.

Though she was reckless to the point of idiocy at times, she knew how disappointed Valkyrie would be if she caused needless trouble. That was the key. Putting herself or her band into danger for no reason wasn't ideal, and so Eyrún wasn't keen on doing just that. But she was curious, and she was entertained by the thought of what sort of mischief she could drudge up. Only when a stranger caught her eye did she decide to redirect her aimless, erratic movements, loping closer to him - though keeping a safe enough distance from Valhalla's borders that she couldn't possibly be mistaken as a trespasser. As she drew closer, she caught sight of the armor he wore. "Fight off any intruders lately?" Eyrún called out a bit too gleefully, a smirk tugging at her lips as she took a few long strides closer, eyeing his position on the wall with curiosity. What a strange sight this man was.

Chrystal clicked her beak once more, alerting him that she would keep an eye out for other wolves as the figure in his peripheral changed course, heading toward him. Able to focus on her now, and trusting the pale barn owl to watch his back and the wall, Cairo watched the woman come closer, noting the mischief in her grin as she called to him.
A lackadaisical, toothy grin flashed over his features, and his head cocked as he said, “Nope! Most wolves are intelligent enough to stay outside the border. Were you offering?”
His tail waved just above his hips, swaying in a slow, serpentine motion as he studied the woman, dark brow points cocking toward the sky. He could smell that she wasn’t just a loner, but the scent wasn’t one of the packs he’d encountered. If anything, it was Fireside that tended to like testing the border, and they had a history of that behavior from that pack.
For all his teasing grin, he wouldn’t hesitate to engage the woman if she proved idiotic. He’d be doing his duty to the pack, for one, and he’d be making the morning just that bit more exciting in the process.

Though Eyrún had yet to decide how to proceed - or if this man and his pack were even worth her time at all - she was entertained for the moment. "Tell me, little watchdog, what pack do you protect? Must be something quite esteemed to be so... well-protected," Eyrún gestured at the wall he was fixed upon, striding just a few feet closer to him, ever-vigilant and alert as she began to close the distance between them.
