The beginning of her northern adventures had certainly gotten off to an interesting start. She could see this massive trees even from a distance before she actually got to them. They didn't disappoint and were just as towering and massive as she had imagined. She walked through each of them with a curious eye, pausing occasionally to tip her head back and look up toward the tree tops above her. It seemed like no matter how hard she tried she couldn't see their tops and she began to wish that she could transform into some sort of bird so that she could go up there herself and enjoy the view.

As she went deeper into the forest itself she began to notice how some trees leaned toward the others and by the time she got to the center of the forest they had begun to criss cross with each other and form a bit of a canopy around her. It was all quite interesting and intriguing and all of those other words that meant that she was quite enjoying this scenery. It made her wish she had come up to the north sooner, but at least she had waited till the weather was pleasant to make the trip. She was fairly certain that if she had come up this way during the winter she wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much.

A soft hum and buzz happened to catch her attention and her sapphire eyes looked up toward the sound. Her gaze landed on a bee hive that hung from one of the oddly twisted branches above her head. Her ears perked with interest and she watched them buzz around sleepily for a while. Even though it was spring, it was still fairly cool and mild around these parts. Now that it was beginning to descend from noon to evening the temperatures had gone down even more so perhaps that would explain why they seemed less active than she would have expected. She began to think of how incredibly sweet honey was and that was all it took to plant the desire to get some in her mind.

Her eyes followed the branch it was dangling from to its slanted trunk and then all the way down to the ground. It dawned on her that they were at a particular angle that even someone like her might be able to climb. She saw an easy way to get to the hive, but how she was actually going to get the honey out of the hive was a whole different problem. With a thoughtful hum she decided to just try getting up there first to see if it was actually as easy as she imagined. She trotted over to the tree in question and started to carefully climb along it, steadily making her way toward her goal. It wasn't exactly easy, but with her light build it was manageable. It honestly made her wish she was a bit shorter because if her legs weren't quite so long and willowy it might have been a tad easier to accomplish.

She reached the branch the hive was attached to and paused where the branch and trunk connected with a tired sigh. This felt like an awful lot of work for some honey, but now she was already here so she might as well go ahead and see it through. She eyed the hive with a squinted, thoughtful gaze for a while, frowning as she tried to work out all the ways she might go about this. It was out toward the end of the branch which was pretty long so walking all the way out to where it was hanging seemed awfully dangerous. She could already imagine slipping and falling off of it which was about as frightening as facing the bees themselves. However, the length of the branch did make her wonder if it would be a far enough distance for her to escape the wrath of the bees...

Looking around for a moment, she saw a thinner branch that she could easily snap off of the tree with her jaws. Turning back to her target, she realized it wasn't quite long enough for her to reach so she had to walk out on to the branch by a few steps. Her claws dug into the bark the best they could, but she very obviously wasn't built for climbing trees. At least the branch was still very thick and sturdy this close to the trunk. She took the branch she had collected and carefully brought it to the point where the hive was attached to the tree. Steeling herself a bit, she pulled her head back and then took one solid stab at what she thought would be the weakest point. The hive snapped off of the branch and went plummeting to the ground.

She watched with a huge, shocked expression, her mouth falling open with surprise and letting her stick fall to the ground as well. She scrambled back away from the branch to the slightly more secure trunk and watched as the hive fell and cracked open like a watermelon that got dropped from a really high point. It fell open and completely exposed the glistening honey comb inside... and also sent a swarm of very disgruntled bees flying away from it. She held incredibly still and held her breath as if that would stop them from finding her. She wasn't sure if that actually helped or not, but none of them seemed to come further up into the tree. After a little while her lungs began to burn for air so she let out the breath she had been holding in a slow sigh, but she still didn't dare move.

She stayed in that tree for what felt like hours, but was really maybe a half hour at most. It seemed like the bees had deemed their old home unsalvageable so they began to fly off in small swarms, at first in small groups and then in in larger ones. Eventually there were only one or two that she could see lingering around. Elise carefully made her way back down to the ground and landed with one last hop to clear the last foot or so. Still being incredibly cautious, she walked over to her prize and picked up one of the shattered pieces before walking a good distance away from it. She didn't want to be around if any of the bees decided they wanted to come back for some reason.

She settled down onto her stomach and began to lick the honey comb clean with her tail wagging proudly. This was a glorious snack that she was a bit too pleased with herself for getting.
