The Great Ardent Island Tour
Ouse - island 1/9

After speaking with Sedna and really thinking about how her exploring days had essentially ended after she joined the Armada, the more she decided that just wasn't something she wanted for herself. If telling Resin how she felt had taught her anything it was that she needed to just go for what she wanted more often. And so she did - she decided that she would start with the island she had spotted off of the shore near the Lover's Mangroves whenever she had been out scouting for a place to hold the pack's training. It didn't seem like a terribly far distance to swim. She comforted herself with the fact that it wasn't any farther than Atlantis Island had been when she explored it with Natha and she was in much better shape now than she was then. She found the furthest point that she was still able to touch land from the mangroves and set out across the ocean to get to the island in question. At the very least the weather was warm and the water was fairly comfortable in the late spring air. It felt like no time at all and she found herself on Daager Island's shore. It was far easier than she remembered her first island swim being, but she had been far more restless back then and not nearly as well trained. With a good shake to get a majority of the water out of her fur, she started to move deeper into the island, her mint gaze scanning the dense forest curiously. |

Words "Bolloooocks... now me paint's all runnin'." The white lady grumbled as she watched the blue and green paint across her face drip into the water. She just had to explore an island. She'd liked her paint today. It had looked particularly nice. Now it was just a big blue and green mess. Whatever. Ouse stuck her face full in the water and swished it around, washing the paint from her pure white fur. Oh well. She could paint it again later. There were such strange things strewn about. There had been odd hollow logs near the water, though she'd never seen a tree that was shaped so oblong and strange. There were bits of shiny stones that reflected the light pressed into the dirt. The trees seemed to have eaten the place and were running rampant. Pumpkin orange eyes scanned the area around her and she just caught the tail end of a black wolf padding into the trees. Oh, maybe they would want to explore together? "Oi! You there! Wait up!" Ouse rushed towards them, a smile on her features. |

A voice calling to her made her stop in her tracks and look back over her shoulder. Her mint eyes landed on a white woman that was rushing toward her and Tamsyn blinked with surprise, but still waited for the other woman to catch up. It seemed like the other woman was solid white - a perfect contrast to her solid black - but Tam thought that maybe she could see a few small hints and stains of blues around the woman's face. She could tell from how damp her fur was that she had just arrived on the island as well so perhaps this place was just as new to both of them. All the same, it stranger seemed friendly enough and Tamsyn certainly couldn't tern away a new adventuring companion. "Hello there!" she said in greeting, offering the stranger a smile in return. Once the new acquaintance caught up to her she began walking again, still walking at an easy, relaxed pace. "Exploring the island too?" she asked before looking at the large structure that was coming into view ahead of them. It seemed to be like some sort of building or something similar, but it was hard to tell with how over grown it was. The trees really had begun to swallow this place whole. "I'm Tamsyn, by the way! What's your name?" |

"Hallo!" The woman had stopped and Ouse rushed to catch up. As she made her way close, she listened to how the birds sounded different here than they did on the mainland. Perhaps this was a safe place for a particular species or two? Interesting. She couldn't imagine many would want to swim to get a meal when they could easily hunt something on the mainland. If she was a bird, this would be a good place to be. The woman introduced herself as Tamsyn and asked if she was exploring too. "Oh, aye. Explorin' is my middle name." The pale woman flashed a grin. "Me first name, however, is Ouse. Pleasure to meet ye, Tamsyn." Now that they knew one another, the leggy fae cast her pumpkin gaze around them. She, too, could see the dilapidated structure being engulfed by trees. "What is this place, do ye know?" Ouse began to move towards the structure, curious as to what was inside if they could even get inside. "Speech" |

The stranger's accent made her grin and listen closer than she might have normally to catch all of her words. It was unlike any that she had experienced before and that made this random encounter all the more interesting. "Same to you, Ouse." When the question turned toward the run down building, Tamsyn turned her attention back toward it again. It was quite large and the stonework of the building seemed to be the only part that had stood the test of time. Everything else was crumbling and in pieces if not completely gone. "No, not a clue," she replied with a small shake of her head. "I've seen some other places with weird arrangements of stone and things like that, but this is way bigger than any of those." As they reached the base of the largest building, she leaned up on her tippy toes and stretched her neck to peer though what looked to be some kind of broken window of sorts. The inside was mostly empty, though she did see some other stuff that she couldn't identify mixed among all the bushes and trees that had taken over the interior. Sunlight streamed in through a large hole in the ceiling, making it a perfect place for these plants to grow. "I bet we could get in if we found an entrance or a hole big enough to fit though," she mused as she leaned away from the window. "We could probably even get though this window if we climbed up, but those shards of glass look sharp." |

It seemed as though this was a first for both of them. Ouse let her orange eyes roam over the building as Tamsyn peeked through the window. The woman spoke of finding a way inside and the pale lady grinned. "Where there's a window there's bound to be a door, eh?" With a pull of her shoulder, she motioned for the dark wolf to follow her. Ouse began picking her way around the perimeter of the structure, looking for an entrance. The greenery encroached so far towards the structure that at points trees actually grew through one window and out another. It was an odd sight for sure. As the leggy lass picked her way around the edge of the building, she noticed old paw prints in the ground. They were fairly large and dwarfed her own dainty paws. "Looks like we're not the first to find this place. Hopefully no one's home so we can explore in peace." In time they came to an opening in the wall and she looked over her shoulder to give Tamsyn a grin. "Shall we then?" Who knew what they would find inside? She was ready to figure it out though. Curiosity was the basis for her stories. If she could get enough inspiration from this place, perhaps it could feed the fires in her mind. "Speech" |

Tamsyn nodded in agreement with the statement before following Ouse around the edge of the building, keeping her eyes peeled for an entrance of some kind as well. The way that nature had completely enveloped this place was really fascinating and it made her wonder just how long it had been since this place had been anything other than an overgrown building and what it had possibly looked like back then. Sometimes it was hard to piece together the history of a place just based on its remains, but that didn't stop her from trying. Her imagination liked to run wild and this was perfect fuel for it. When Ouse mentioned someone else being here first, she looked down and eyed the paw prints that she had found. They seemed pretty old, but that didn't always mean that whoever left them there had gone. It at least made her want to be a bit more cautious as they made their way around the building. Soon enough Ouse found their way in and Tamsyn grinned in return. "Lets do it!" she replied before following the pale woman in through the opening in the wall. What they walked into seemed to be a main room that lots of other things branched off of. The floor was dirty and broken up, but here and there patches of a tiled, mosaic floor still survived. She walked over to one of these sections of flooring and started brushing it off with her paw, wiping away the dirt to reveal the white and blue tiles underneath. "How pretty!" she commented before lifting her eyes up to the rest of the room, taking in what would have been a lobby once upon a time. |

Moving through the doorway and into the space, Ouse let her eyes adjust to the difference in lighting. As she began to sniff about the big chamber, Tamsyn's words caught her attention. Ears perked as she went to investigate the pretty thing that the woman had exclaimed over. She spied the blue and white tiles and made a sound of awe. "Oh, aye. That is a pretty shade, isn't it?" She wondered why someone would leave such treasures for the world to eat. Nosing about, the pallid fae pushed through a strange door that swung back and forth both ways. Into the next room she went. This room was darker, but there was still enough light to see. There wasn't much in this room, so she moved towards the next set of doors. She could see light coming from under this one and had higher hopes. Pushing through, the woman's eyes widened. "Tamsyn, you've got to see this." Standing out of the way so the dark fae could come through, Ouse looked upwards. Part of the structure had fallen through completely, leaving a large hole. From where they stood, you could see several floors of the structure up above. A large tree had grown up through the hole and birds of various species flitted back and forth though the space. Their singing echoed in the cavernous structure. "Pretty amazing, I think." "Speech" |
