She truly enjoyed watching how the land changed from season to season. She had visited this place every season since coming to Boreas and she had seen it covered in a blanket of snow that went up to her elbows and she had seen it in its full spring time glory. It was a place that she had really come to enjoy quite a bit and whenever she got an itch to get out of the pack lands for a few hours this was toward the top of the list of places she enjoyed to visit. Now that summer had just begun to fully set in, the temperatures were creeping up and up. She didn't think that she'd be able to travel very far without getting uncomfortable with her dark coat, but this short distance was more than fine.

As she walked through the trees, she let her eyes linger on the branches so she could pick out a few last remaining pink flowers that were desperately clinging on before the leaves fully took hold for the rest of the summer season. She slowed to a stop when she spotted one particularly bright flower. She was tempted to figure out a way for her to get up to the branch so that she could pick it to take back to Resin, but she knew the gruff warrior didn't care for such frilly things. The idea of picking it and putting it in her lover's fur still brought an amused grin to her face though so she was tempted to do it anyway.

He was shocked at how many claimed lands they had come across since they got to whatever this land was. He'd passed at least two or three packs before they even got half way through this continent and it made him wonder how many wolves were actually settled here. Even though he had mostly told the others that he was going to go out to spread their religion on his own just as an excuse to get himself and Rhona away from the band without them asking too many questions, he wondered if maybe it was something he should seriously think about. If packs were such a popular thing around here then surely it wouldn't be that difficult for him to start one. Why not? He'd need somewhere for their pups to grow up... whenever they finally had a successful litter anyway.

He glanced over his shoulder to make sure Rhona was still following him and a small twitch of a snarl pulled at his lips when he saw that she had fallen behind a bit. As soon has his blue green eyes found her orange ones she quickly darted up to be at his side so he looked back toward the path with a frustrated huff. Right before he could begin to chew her out and warn her to not to it again, a scent that he thought he would never come across again found his nose and his eyes widened with shock. His gaze darted up to look between the trees ahead of them... and there she was. For a second maybe he thought he was seeing a ghost, but as he got closer he decided that she actually was really there. "Tamsyn?" he questioned with disbelief, as if he couldn't believe his own eyes. "You're... you're alive?"

Every time Osmond looked away from her for any length of time she started to slowly put a bit of distance between them, trying to carefully time it so perhaps she could dart away when he wasn't paying attention. If she could just get away then maybe she could run into one of the pack lands that they had passed and maybe ask one of them for help. Sure, she ran the risk of one of these packs attacking her on sigh for trespassing, but was that any better than the fate she was currently living? As soon as Osmond threatened to take her away if she didn't make her father stop with his constant checks on her well being she had been terrified of what might happen. She hadn't thought that he would actually go through with it so she hadn't tried to talk to her father, but then it was too late. Osmond left their band and forced her to come with him. Now there was nothing to stop him from doing whatever he wanted and no one she could run to. Her scruff was raw with fresh bite wounds that intermingled between the older scars. They were hard to see though her thick, dark fur, but they still stung all the same.

After yet another failed attempt to sneak away, she thought that she might have finally pushed her luck to far, but something caught his attention and she was able to breathe a momentary sigh of relief. However... once she saw who it was that had startled him her own problems were quickly put on the back burner. She had only seen Tamsyn a couple times when she was a pup, but the woman's eyes were such a distinct color and the scars she wore were so noticeable that it was easy to place who she was even before Osmond called her name. She hung back with wide, worried eyes, standing a couple steps behind Osmond's shoulder. If she was ever going to have a chance to get away now would be it, but she couldn't leave Tamsyn on her own with him - not in a million years would she allow herself to do that to Tamsyn. Her eyes darted uncertainly between the woman and Osmond while her heart pounded nervously against her ribs.

"Tamsyn?" An eerily familiar voice called her name and she slowly turned her gaze away from the tree in front of her till her mint green eyes landed on a face that she had convinced herself she would never see again. A chill of fear and a deep seated panic that had been ingrained into her physique immediately sprang to life and for a moment all she could do was stare in disbelief. The last time she had laid eyes on her brother had been moments after her father had refused to just finish her off after nearly killing her. She remembered seeing him standing a few feet from their family's den when her father had drug her out into the night and told her to run. She remembered it as clear as day and it suddenly felt as if that moment could have happened yesterday. Seeing Osmond's face made all of that come to the surface in her mind in the matter of seconds.

She turned to face him as he questioned the fact that she was alive and she felt a furious anger begin to mix with the overwhelming fear that was making her heart pound wildly against her chest. "No thanks to you," she replied after a moment, her jaw clenching as she resisted the urge to tear into him. It still felt wrong to talk back to him, even after all this time, and it was hard to resit the urge to immediately flinch back after she said it. Her eyes flicked for a moment to the younger woman at his side and she could tell from her appearance that she was related to Iona, but she most certainly wasn't Iona. Tamsyn and Iona had practically grown up together, as pretty much all the girls their age had, so she would have recognized the woman if it was her. "Where is Iona?" she asked as her eyes went back to Osmond. A grim realization settled over her even as she asked the question and she knew the answer even before it came out into the open.

He was immediately taken aback by his sister's response to his question and for a moment he simply gaped at her audacity. Time away from him and the rest of the men in their family had clearly undone all the work they had tried to put into making her into what she needed to be. Of course he remembered the night that his father had sent her away and he still disagreed with his father's decision for this exact reason. Sure, no man in their band wanted to deal with her, but now he was going to have to start completely over with training her to act as a woman should and he had no one to blame for that than his father. He should have just kept Tamsyn there or killed her. After all the trouble she had put the whole band through he was pretty sure the leader would have forgiven him - even if it was against the religion's laws.

The next question that left his sister's stupid mouth was what finally made him snap. After all this time, she asked about that useless woman? She had one task to make herself worth something and she couldn't even accomplish that - why would he care where Iona was? "She's dead," he spat with a growl. "At least she had the decency to just die when she proved herself to be worthless, unlike you." With a snarl he rushed toward her with his jaws reaching for her neck. He was going to remind his sister where her place in this world was and finally finish what his father had started. Now that he was out from under the fucking eyes of the stiff, religion following, older men of their family he could finally do what he had been craving for years.

Things moved so quickly that she barely had a chance to respond. Her mouth opened to stop him or pull his attention away form her or something, but she couldn't' get her body to respond. She was frozen in place by her own fear and for a moment she was stuck just watching things play out in front of her. Her ears fell back against her head when Tamsyn asked about Iona and her eyes fell to the ground with sorrow and pain at the mention of her sister. Watching Iona slowly waste away had been one of the hardest things she had ever experienced - even harder than knowing that she would have to take her sister's place as Osmond's mate in order to fill the void she had created. Osmond's scathing words about Iona's death felt as though he had knocked her to the ground. She missed Iona dearly and it felt like every day since Osmond took her from them had been one continuous nightmare.

Osmond left her side in a blur and her head snapped up in a panic. She took a step forward to stop him, but immediately froze in place. What was she going to do? She had no idea how to fight or how she would even begin to stop Osmond and she felt certain that she'd just end up getting them both hurt badly if she interfered. Maybe she should go get help? Would she even find someone in time to save Tamsyn if she did? Fear, panic, and indecision locked up her muscles and she ended up watching Osmond attack Tamsyn the same way someone might watch a car wreck - she wanted to help, she wanted to stop it, but she didn't know how.

Osmond quickly confirmed what she already knew and her anger quickly began to out weigh her fear. The moment she saw the snarl form on his lips, all of her training came back to her and she snarled in return while her hackles raised. She wasn't the defenseless, deprived woman she once was. She was the General of a powerful pack with hours and hours of training behind her and several wolves that had already sworn to kill the wolves that had hurt her. Even though that conditioning in her brain told her to stand down, to take her punishment, to not fight back or she would only be punished worse for it... She knew better now. She was more than that. Osmond couldn't control her now.

She ducked away from his outstretched jaws, his teeth mostly snapping down onto thin air. His teeth barely scraped the side of her neck, leaving a few deep scratches behind and pulling blood to the surface of her skin. Without skipping a beat, she darted back toward him and immediately latched her sharp teeth onto his neck with her bottom jaw sinking into the base of his throat. She heard his pained, slightly strangled snarl in response and she jerked her head, tearing open the wound a bit before she let go and quickly staggered back out of his reach. He fell back a couple steps, both of them panting hard. It had been a quick bite and release and it was far less than then she actually wanted to do to him, but she knew she wasn't going to be able to completely overpower him on her own. He was still larger and heavier than her and she didn't want to risk it. The adrenaline was making her shaky and she didn't trust herself to actually go for a lethal blow without hesitating.

She had to get back. She needed Resin, she needed Sirus. Her eyes flicked toward the other woman. She needed to get her out of here. That wound would slow him down, but it wouldn't stop him. Her eyes went back to him just in time to see him reach toward her again and she quickly jumped out of the way, but his teeth still caught her shoulder and left a few deep lacerations there. It made her stumble, but she pushed through. They had to go - now. She turned back toward the Armada's lands, looking at the woman that she would only assume was Iona's younger sister, and yelling, "Follow me!" She took off at a full sprint, hoping that the woman actually followed her directions and was able to keep up with her.
