Shinier Than A Silver Dollar In a Goat's Butt
Corvus!

Lately Corvus hadn't been going far from home, but today he decided he wanted to stretch his legs. He had a lot on his mind, despite how good things were going overall in his life - most of his thoughts were good ones, all things considered, but a few less-than-ideal ones seemed intent on resurfacing no matter how hard he tried to push them back into the dark corners of his mind. Maybe hunting something a bit more challenging than usual, something he didn't find back in Abaven's territories, would do him some good today. That was the only reason he headed this way, heading higher into the mountains than he was used to. He wasn't about to do anything too crazy, like climb so high that he'd put himself in danger, but maybe some adrenaline would do some good in easing his restless thoughts.
The scent of a stranger caught his attention as he headed after. Maybe they were off to hunt, too? He'd caught a whiff of some goats awhile back that he intended to follow, and a partner in such an huint sounded like a grand idea. Before long a stranger came into view, settled into a still position as she looked over at something - his gaze followed hers as he spotted the small figures of a goat climbing up a steep cliffside. "Do you need any help?" Corvus cleared his throat to alert the stranger of his approach, speaking quietly so that there would be no chance of the goat possibly hearing their plotting from its distance.

While the scent of the stranger was what first piqued his interest, as he approached he noticed the metallic scent of blood lingering on the goat's path. Was it injured, then? That certainly seemed to be the case. That would work in his favor. Thankfully the female seemed interested in his help, which he thought would be beneficial for the two of them. While a single wolf could easily take down a wolf on flat terrain, hunting in the mountains was a different story entirely. The land was more precarious, and thus two wolves would be a smarter choice, and she agreed. "Sounds fair to me," he agreed. Truthfully he would've agreed to less. Though hungry, he'd mostly wanted to get his blood boiling with a good hunt, hunger being a lower-ranked priority on his list currently. "And that plan sounds good." Thanks to his size, being elusive wasn't his biggest strength, but she was right - his earthy tones would allow him to blend in more easily than her own more vibrant coat. Thankfully, he'd left his red bandana home today too. He didn't waste any more time, veering back the way he'd came, following a lower slope downward. Thanks to the angle of the rocky outcrop they'd been standing on, he had a feeling he could lie here in wait and go unnoticed until the goat was nearly on him. Padding to the perfect spot, eventually he came to a halt and hunkered down, eyes fixed on Halla as he waited for her to start her chase.

Over time Corvus had grown much more confident in his hunting skills, but he was pretty unfamiliar with hunting in more treacherous landscapes. Abaven was luckily blessed with fertile, safe hunting grounds... save for the plains, though snakes were a different sort of danger than the one that this place possessed. Slipping and falling from a great height could spell grave injury, or death, if you were really unlucky. Corvus was confident in his abilities though and wasn't overly worried about losing his footing. Hopefully he was able to stop the goat before it started too far down the cliffside though; this spot was infinitely safer, at least from his judgement.
Before long, Halla sprung toward the goat, and instantly it reacted. Climbing up wasn't a safe bet for it, so it headed back down the slope, right toward where Corvus had predicted. The surge of excitement that flooded him made it difficult to stay still, but he managed it until the goat was close enough for him to strike. He'd seen Halla grab hold of one of its hind legs, which caused it to fumble. It lost some momentum, though seemed to pick back up just as it neared him. Springing from his position he aimed to come down hard on the goat, jaws unhinging and aiming for its throat. Though the bite landed, the goat seemed to have more fight in it than he predicted, kicking hard at his chest as it fumbled. The movement made him lose his footing too, though thankfully the ground was even enough that he couldn't slip too far, just a few feet down a ledge as he maintained a hold on the flailing goat. Hopefully Halla could strike now and help him strengthen his bite and allow him to deal a killing blow.

Luckily he was able to hang on, thrashing his head from side to side as the took the goat down with him. He felt that sinking feeling that always accompanied a fall, one that threatened to knock the air out of his lungs, but luckily he only slid a few feet before reaching solid ground again. Halla was right on target, lunging on their chosen prey animal and helping stabilize it and aiming for its neck while Corvus scrambled to his feet and used his own weight to keep their meal from bucking free. He felt the reward of blood staining his tongue as he pulled free, sinking his fangs into the goat's side as Halla took care of the neck, making sure the goat was truly dead.
"Congrats!" Corvus was beaming by the time the two of them moved off their prey, glad to feel the thrill of a good hunt, even if it had been a quick one. The feeling of the blood pumping hard though his veins was refreshing, and a welcome distraction. At least he'd get a good nap out of this, by the time he got back home. He was content. "I'm Corvus Destruction, by the way. I forgot to say," he spoke up as he settled in opposite Halla, starting at one of the goat's hind flanks. "Do you live around here?" He let him answer as he started to tear into the goat's flesh, hoping that she didn't mind a bit of conversation while they ate, at least for a moment.

Halla seemed far hungrier than he does, quickly wolfing down her share of their kill. Corvus followed suit, though was slower to eat - Abaven was enjoying a profitable hunting season thus far and he had not gone without, perhaps unlike this female who seemed like she had no group she belonged to. He didn't blame her at all for wanting to eat quickly and leave before anyone else got a whiff of their kill. "It's nice to meet you, Halla," he nodded, appreciating her introduction even if their time together was brief. He doubted they'd meet again, even though she seemed like quite pleasant company; it wasn't often he ran into loners anyway, spending most of his time back home in Abaven. Today was merely an exception to that rule. He got the hint that she was more interested in eating than talking, which was fine by him. He took finished his share of the kill, somewhat disappointed that some would of their kill would end up going to waste - but then again, he had no doubt a scavenger of some sort would come along and enjoy the rest of the meal. "Thanks to you too. Best of luck to you," he gave her a faint grin as she left, taking just a bit longer before cleaning his paws and beginning his trek back to Abaven.
