Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

Shilah held on tight, bracing his shoulders and legs as he pulled back in short, abrupt jerking motions, seeking to edge the cat backwards as well as increase the damage his jaws were causing. Káti was forced to leg go as the cat twisted toward him but a moment later the horned man joined the fray, seizing the cat by the scruff and hauling it back. The tiger flailed and twisted, trying to get at the wolves but its motion was limited and it roared in frustration. Shilah worked to hang onto the tail he had, thrashing his head to worsen the break and the pain. The tiger had to be in agony and realizing the kill wasn't worth fighting off the three wolves, but Shilah didn't want to let go til he was more certain of the outcome.

Lynvarr maintained a solid grip on the tiger's heel as it struggled against the wolves. He inwardly cheered as the horned man got hold of the tiger's scruff and started hauling it back. A tiger was a powerful animal but against four wolves it had met its match. Lynvarr bit down harder as the cat's powerful limbs pushed back against him. He was in close range however, and this helped to prevent the cat from retaliating with enough force to push him off. He wasn't going to let go so easily. Watching the other he sought to time his pulling motions with theirs so they could more effectively drag the tiger away from the kill while driving home the poin that it wasn't going to win this fight.

Káti tensed, his legs coiling beneath him as he watch the fight. The horned man got a hold of the tiger's scruff and drew its attention to himself. With the tiger distracted Káti dove in again, seizing hold of the tiger's other leg. With a powerful twist he brought the leg off of the ground. Between all of them the tiger was twisted onto its side. It yowled, front claws lashing out and back legs kicking as it tried to right itself. It maneuvered its front half to the ground and tried to pull away from the wolves, seeking to escape from them. By now it was clear that the tiger had had enough of this fight and would seek easier prey elsewhere where the competition for food wasn't quite so fierce.

Hattori strained, his talons ripping into grass and tearing it to shreds as he pulled with all his might. Blood rolled down his teeth, dripping down and painting the earth red as the battle drew to it's conclusion. Grinding his teeth, he knew he wasn't doing that much damage since he was holding the scruff, but it must have hurt a lot regardless as every time he changed the pressure of his bite the tiger visibly flinched. It wasn't even really fighting anymore, it's heart was no longer in it and it was ready to cut it's loses. Sensing this Hattori let go and watched as the tiger, with one final snarl, turned and headed off into the greenery just as the lion before had done. Heaving an exhausted breath, he gingerly rolled his shoulder as he inspected his form for any lasting damage and then his gaze moved to the others. Despite the scratches and hits they'd received they all seemed well enough, if not a little short of breath like him.
And now it was finally time to tuck in, each and every wolf present had earned their keep in his eyes, so he didn't mind the idea of sharing. This time.

Shilah held onto the tiger despite it weakening until he saw the horned man let go. Shilah quickly followed suit in releasing the cat and so did the other men. The tiger then scrambled away, disappearing into the brush. Shilah made a beeline for the food, ripping into it and wolfing down some chunks of meat before something else showed up. There were a few crows and carrion birds hanging about but he couldn't be bothered with them. However, there was something off. Shilah stood up suddenly, licking bits of flesh off his chin as he gazed into the brush ahead of him. Something wasn't right. His ears twitched. Was it behind him? He glanced back. He wasn't sure how to describe it but he thought he heard something big moving out in the brush. He didn't have to wonder for long. A massive grizzly bear burst forth from the brush, headed right for them with blood lust in its eyes.

Lynvarr held on until the other men let go, swiftly releasing his grip on the tiger he shuffled back to get out of the way as it flailed and scrambled back to its feet. Finally free, the cat took off, limping as it went. Panting, Lynvarr turned to the other men and nodded, still unable to speak. Shilah moved for the kill and Lynvarr followed. He started eating when he noticed Shilah stand up suddenly. He swallowed and looked up. "What is it?" No sooner did the question leave his mouth then a large grizzly bear charged. Lynvarr dove out of the way, narrowly avoiding the bears fangs. First a lion, then a tiger, now a fucking bear? Lynvarr was ready to cut his losses but the bear was showing unrivaled aggression. It didn't want the bears anywhere in sight and he didn't like the idea of just being run off. Lynvarr darted forward, fangs latching into the bears butt. It roared and twisted around trying to get at him. He let go and bounded to the side out of reach.

Káti was glad to be done with the tiger and he let go swiftly, jumping away in case the cat tried to get some strikes in as it left. Once it was out of site Káti followed Shilah to the kill and started eating greedily. He sought to get as much of the meat in his stomach as he could. He didn't stop even when Shilah did. However, once he heard the bear he darted out of the way but not quite in time. The bear swung a paw towards him and while he'd avoided the claws the bear's arm caught him in the chest and sent him rolling violently to the side. He yelped in pain, trying to get his bearings as he slid to a painful stop. He barely managed to look up as the bear dove for him, fangs bared and ready to kill.

Hattori shot a dark look at the wolf who began to tuck in as though the buffalo belonged to him and him alone. He'd been about to step up and cut that foolishness right out before his ears snapped to attention at the sound of slow, but heavy paw steps. His eyes widened just a smidge as the largest bear he'd ever seen stepped into few and his tail lashed once, in a very rare show of frustration from the shinobi. Really? What were the chances of one predator arriving on the scene after another? A few choice words in his native tongue sprung to mind as he watched the other's notice the gravity of the situation, would they run away or stay and fight?
He was tempted to just go since he wasn't even sure if he wanted the buffalo anymore. The risk-reward scale had collapsed and Hattori once again reminded himself that a wise warrior didn't just fight aimlessly, that half the battle was choosing whether it was worth his time. But then the bear seemed to focus all of it's rage at one of the others and....well if he didn't intervene there wouldn't be much of a wolf left by the time it was done. They'd done their best to help him get out from underneath the tiger so in a way he sort of owed them, bear bait included Fine.
Resigning himself with a muted sigh, Hattori launched himself into the fray once more. He stretched his talons and with a lithe full bound he leapt atop the bears back and dug his claws in deep. If anything would get the bears attention then this sure would. The bear- as he'd anticipated- roared in both alarm and pain as Hattori held on for dear life as it began to thrash and squirm in an attempt to shake him off. Now was the time for the others to strike and strangely he trusted them to do so...even if they were seemingly predator magnets.

Shilah debated just grabbing a piece of the kill and high-tailing it but then the bear knocked one of the other wolves aside and was headed right toward him. Oh no! Shilah raced forward, trying to figure out a good tactic. The bear was too massive to just drag off the other wolf. The horned wolf was the swiftest of their lot and he immediately leapt onto the bears back, catching its attention as it stood up, trying to reach behind with its arms before it tipped forward back onto four feet, realizing it couldn't quite reach. "Lyn, the arms!" Shilah shouted out before he slipped under the bear's right arm, fangs tipping up and latching right onto the bear's throat. He prayed Lynvarr would understand his words and that the male they'd rescued would figure out what to do. Shilah was in a terribly risky position. Those claws could kill him minutes.

Lynvarr circled the bear, seeking a good place to attack when the horned male leapt upon its back. It roared and flailed in pain and anger. Shilah called out to him and Lynvarr realized Shilah wanted them to take care of the bear's front arms. Easier said than done and there was barely any time to react as the nomad dove for the bear's throat. Lynvarr followed close behind and grabbed hold of the back of the bear's right wrist. He thrashed his head seeking to rip apart the tendons there to cripple the bear but it was hard work. The bear's arm was covered in thick fur and muscle that made his task particularly difficult. He didn't know what the plan was. At this point he was ready to just tell the other male to run and they could all beat a hasty retreat, however, with Shilah at its throat maybe they could slay it and leave a warning for any other predators that wandered in.

Káti breathed a sigh of relief as the other wolves distracted the bear from making a meal of him. He struggled to his feet, flinching as he did. There was serious bruising forming on his chest and breathing was difficult but as he saw the others attacking he knew what he had to do. Káti launched himself toward the bear's left wrist, seizing hold and dragging it back to earth before it could connect with Shilah. He twisted his head, seeking to rip as much flesh as he possibly could. The bear's fangs launched toward him trying to bite but with one wolf at its throat it was having a difficult time getting its head down low and with a wolf on either wrist it's ability to fight back was severely restricted. The bear roared and shook itself, trying to get rid of the pesky wolves.

This fight was far more chaotic and disorderly than the last two. Though they were all still working as a team, from his shaky position atop the bear Hattori couldn't see what the others were doing. The scent of blood filled his nostrils, beyond the wounds he'd inflicted he could sense that the others had dealt damage of their own. Just like Lynvarr, Hattori found himself wondering whether they ought to just kill the bear and be done with it. If any creature wandered in on them with all this blood, mess and a dead bear laying at their paws then they'd clearly have no survival instincts to speak of. There wasn't much he could do from atop the bear, aside from scratch and claw and just try to be as distracting as possible. It kept shifting its weight this way and that, making it increasingly more difficult to hold on.
Slowly inching his way up the bears spine he gripped onto the scruff of it's back and grabbed a hold of it's neck with his blood ridden canines. This worked, for just a moment before the bear directed all of it's focus for a second to shaking him off. Talons or not Hattori just couldn't hold on when it reared up on it's hind legs. The shinobi was sent flying off into the undergrowth, luckily it cushioned his landing as he laid there for a second and just sighed. It was tempting to just stay there and take a moment to breathe but time was of the essence, and so charging back onto the scene Hattori stabbed at the air with his horns. Ready to use them again if need be.

Shilah couldn't see to much, pressed up against the bear's chest as he was but considering that he wasn't immediately torn into pieces he gathered that the others had gotten hold of the bear's arms. He could smell the bears broth above him but he willed himself not to let go. Releasing the bear's through now meant he would get the fangs. He had to try and kill it. Shilah dug his teeth in deeper, shaking his head as more blood spilled into his mouth and across his face. The bear tried to roar again but this time it came out in a groan. Then suddenly the bear reared up on its hind legs. Shilah wrapped his front arms tight around the bear's throat but then it tipped backwards, falling onto its back. Shilah let go and scrambled off the bear, taking the change to escape while he had it and also to avoid his arms getting pinned beneath the massive creature.

Lynvarr struggled to maintain his grip as the bear thrashed. It tried to pull its arm in toward Shilah and Lynvarr had to dig his heels in to prevent it from cutting the other man. Then all of a sudden it jerked up onto its hind legs. The sudden motion jerked its wrist out of his jaws. Lyn scrambled back, eyes wide as the bear fell over onto its back. Was it dead? He watched Shilah scramble off the creature and he stood there warily, hackles raised as he watched the bear slowly roll over onto its belly. It stood shakily then stumbled back onto its belly. Perhaps it was dying. He crept toward the kill to see what would happen. The bear roared and lifted itself up with its front legs before falling again. "I think its dying… I'll be honest, if another large predator shows up I'm out of here." He'd had enough of this.

Káti struggled to hold onto the bear's wrist. He was out of practice for this much exercise and he could feel the bears flesh ripping across his fangs. He was minutes away from losing his grip and he wasn't sure how long to hold on for. How would he know when to let go? The choice was taken from him when the bear suddenly reared onto its feet. It stood with such force that it ripped its arm out of his grip. Shit! Káti darted away, wary of getting struck but then to his surprise the bear slumped over onto its back. The others were clear and he watched it struggle. Káti frowned. "Should we finish the job? You know, put it out of its misery?" He took a few steps forward but he really didn't want to get close to the creature. If anything he was just ready to get the hell out of here.

It seemed as though they were done here, more or less. Hattori weighed up there words as he licked the blood off his muzzle. All the blood had whetted his appetite and the thought of trying to eat with a dying bear moaning in the background didn't seem all that appealing, if he was being honest. He stepped forth, wordlessly taking the responsibility for himself as he eyed his target. Dying or not it still posed a threat. With his footsteps light and measured he approached the beast from an angle so that his form lingered in the corner of it's vision. Without a moment of hesitation or mercy he leapt in and seized the bears throat, gripping and thrashing his head for a moment before he went still and simply held on. Waiting, watching as the bear choked and wheezed...then finally went still.
When he pulled back he intended to claim his own share of the buffalo and if anyone tried to tell him otherwise he wasn't against the notion of putting his mutations to use once more.
