The Daughter of the Warlord had been sparring continuously, and training hard since making the decision to be a warrior. The Warlord had done what he could to both encourage her new pursuit, and ensure she still had what she needed to observe the stars. Through it seemed star gazing would now be a hobby, and not a path for his girl. He would always ensure that she had the tools she needed to be whatever she wished in life. He padded down to the training arenas today in search of Asla, reaching the barracks and leaning against the sturdy structure. He raised his head, and howled for his daughter, his eyes looking out past the Cypress trees, and into open water. "Speech"

Her usual place these days was at the training field with the training dummies. Or against whichever soul happened to pass her way. That's where she was today. Fighting in full armor against the wood and straw dummies that were shaped like large, lumpy wolves. She had to repack them regularly, but she didn't mind.
When the howl from her father rang out, the panting girl stopped what she was doing and moved to the other end of the barracks. They'd been so close that she was still catching her breath when she came up beside him. "Hi, Papa. What's up?" She'd been training hard and she really hoped that he noticed. She was serious about this warrior thing.

That Asla appeared in a moment, and out of breath caused a brow on the Warlord to rise. He moved past her, peeking around the barracks, and would find the straw dummies she had packed. He frowned, thoughts of training momentarily flying from his thoughts.
He circled the creations, and sniffed at their grassy insides. “Did you make these Asla?” he asked. He could think of a few small adjustments he would make, but the idea of them had never accrued to him. He was mighty impressed with her innovations. “These are… really good.” he already knew he was going to have Asla help him make more and implement them into his training.
But… for the moment, there was another reason he had called her here.
He turned his body back to Asla, leaning down to run his nose against the side of her face, greeting her, and leaving a dominant scent of Warlord across his daughter. He hid a dancing smile as he drew back again, and looked sternly at her. “I’ve heard a rumor that you’ve been fighting for a kiss.” he paused there, giving her a moment to think she might be in trouble, and then… “Now face the consequences. Your old man challenges you to the right to a kiss.” He would, of course, shower her in butterfly kisses. She was a bit young to be gaining kisses from all their young warriors, but she had always had a mind of her own. On this, so long as it did not lead to more well she was still so young, he would not interfere.

When her father questioned the dummies, Asla gave them a glance too. He asked if she had been the one to make them and she shook her head. "It was my idea, but Aunt Io made them for me. Or she helped me make them, at least." It wasn't always easy to find a sparring partner, especially for her. One, she was small and they were afraid of hurting her. And two, she was a princess and they were afraid of hurting her. It was silly and stupid. Didn't they realize that she would get hurt if they didn't spar with her?
Then he brought up the fact that she'd been sparring for kisses. He seemed mad about it and her first instinct was to tuck her ears, but she wasn't a child anymore. If she wanted to fight for kisses, then she'd fight for kisses. She wasn't doing anything bad. Besides, it was funny to see the reactions of her opponent when she laid out her terms. It threw them off their game. That was what she wanted. And, if she could make a name for herself by being remembered as the kissing warrior, then that was fine with her.
Sirius surprised her by saying that he, too, wished to fight for a kiss. Aslatiel arched a brow, then laughed aloud, shaking her head. "Okay, Papa. You got it." Already wearing her body armor, she slid the kudu horned helmet atop her head and fastened it underneath her chin. She knew that her father wouldn't begrudge her the use of armor. Once situated, she lowered her body, rolled her shoulders, and attacked.
Aslatiel rushed her father as though she would slam into his legs, but at the last moment she curled her body to the side and opened her jaws to clamp them around one knee while simultaneously swinging her body around in the hopes of pricking him with her porcupine armor.

It wasn’t the first time one of his children had made use of Io’s ingenuity. He was grateful for the role his sister played in their lives. His attention was on Asla, as she looked up at him, serious and muleish, and then she laughed. He drank in the sound of her laughter, and his own grin grew.
She was right - he did not begrudge her the use of her armor. He considered it sensible. She was outmatched by the Warlord. As was everyone in the pack, she would be foolish to go without her armor just because he was not wearing his braces. He waited until she had donned it, and loosened her muscles.
He was braced for her attack when she began. Drawing towards him, face first. She was brash enough to go ahead with such a frontal attack, but wise enough not to. She lashed out at his leg, sweeping past him. He kicked out with the limp she had latched onto, hissing as her porcupine armor brushed his side.
He turned his head to the side she attached from, seeking to grab her by the scruff with his standard-sized fangs.

Her attack landed and her father fought to swipe his tree trunk leg outward, but she had already let go. He was big, but he was much slower than she was. From the corner of one purple eye, she saw his jaws coming downward. Following his own circular momentum, the girl moved in the same direction, dodging the bite and coming around the opposite side where she aimed to once again sink her teeth into his leg, but this time his outside hind leg. If her bite landed, she would throw all of her weight against it in an attempt to pull his leg outwards, thus throwing off his balance while in his precarious curl to bring him to the ground.
Aslatiel couldn't help but release a little giggle as she fought her father. She hoped that he could see the skill that she had acquired. The girl thought that she was cunning and ingenious. Would her father think the same?

Asla released him as he began to move his leg outwards, and he immediately reestablished his balance. She circled him, coming around him from the other side. He was accustomed to small wolves dancing around him. That was okay, they always seemed surprised when they realised how easily a big wolf could pivot on the spot.
Twisting himself around in a quick, fluid motion, he would bat a paw into her incoming maw. If she followed through with her motion, perhaps she would get a bite against his forepaw. Either way, he drew himself forward. Once again seeking to grab her by the scruff with his teeth and gain control of her smaller form.

She bit into the paw coming at her face simply because it was coming at her face. It distracted her enough that she didn't anticipate her father scruffing her like she was some baby. As he lifted her a bit off of her paws, she wiggled, trying to break free. It was all futile though. She had been bested. The girl growled in frustration. "Dammit!"
Batting at her father, she managed to break free. Her brow was furrowed in anger and disappointment. How was she ever going to beat anyone bigger than herself? That was damn near every opponent in the world! Once more, Aslatiel cursed her size. The world just wasn't a fair place. Give the boys their giant size, but leave her small and weak. Well, Aslatiel would NOT be weak. She would continue to work hard and some day she would beat them all.

He managed to get his teeth into the back of her neck, hoisting her part way into the ear. She growled and wiggled and fought him until he lost his balance, and she fell the short distance from his maw to the ground. She seemed irritated, but the Warlord knew he wasn’t easily beaten, and she had done damn well. He shook out a few of the pains she had left him with. “Damn, but you're getting good, Asla. I can tell you, a lot of our recruits don’t get me as good as you do.”
he was accustomed to winning, but he could see the loss didn’t sit well with her. “I won’t ever go easy on you, Asla. I temper myself as I must with all my fights, or seriously injure my wolves. That goes from you, to the largest of us. But other then that precaution, if you win against me, you’ll know you did so to earn it.” As much as he wanted to give her a win, she deserved more respect then that. “Do I get my prize?” he asked, more softly. Her old man teased her gently.

Despite her frustration, her father complimented her skill. He assured her that he wouldn't go easy on her, but he had. She didn't want him to hurt her, but Asla felt as though she would never learn how to fight a wolf his size. He made a show of shaking away whatever meager injuries that she'd given him and Asla sighed, but cracked the tiniest of smiles.
Would she ever get any bigger than she was now? It seemed as though she was destined to only win fights against those of a similar size. She had beaten Indy once, but that was a fluke. She doubted that she would ever beat her father. He was too big. Too strong. She was just... less. Asla didn't want to be less. She wanted to be the best. She wanted the respect and admiration of all that saw her. There was a lot of work ahead of her for that.
Sirius spoke again, this time asking for his prize. Aslatiel huffed softly before moving to her father. She rose up on her hind paws, placing them on his chest as she gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek. "Your prize." It wasn't the same kind of kiss that she gave to others when they sparred, but this was her father. That would have been creepy.
