Now that the brats were mobile enough to just leave with baby sitters, Justice was on the hunt.... for justice.

Which was to say, she was put tracking down the baby daddy so she could beat the snot out of the oversexed asshole who managed to knock her up when she wasn't in heat. WHO it was was obvious - not because she hadn't had other sexual partners, but because of the weird fucking little pig tusks that two of the babies had sprouted that were a dead ringer for the bucktoothed bastard on the waterfall.

She didn't have the time or the energy to go all the way back to the falls to see if he was there, and besides the last she'd seen him was at Jupiter's little soiree on the beach, so there was no assuming that he was any particular place. So instead she made her way to a spot somewhere generally between those two spots and lifted her muzzle in a ringing howl that carried far and basically translated to "I'm looking for that fucker with the tusks and if he doesn't show up fast he is getting castrated." But, you know, polite. Ish.

Good things never came from being summoned directly, Kai knew as much. And even from a great distance he could tell that Justice was pissed. Why, he had no damn idea, but he definitely wanted to know. He wasn't one to shy away from confrontation, especially when he knew he was entirely innocent, so he moved to cross the distance between him and Justice as swiftly as possible. He'd last seen her at the little beach gathering, if you could call it that. He'd done a lot of things  - women, really - that night, though he couldn't recall Justice being one of them, and she didn't strike him as the jealous type either... so what the hell was her deal?

By the time he reached her he was panting hard. His curiosity had definitely gotten the best of him and he'd wasted no time in sprinting the miles that lay between them. He took a moment to catch his breath, his chest heaving up and down, before finding the air to address her. "Justice!" He spoke amiably, despite... whatever look she was wearing when he first strolled up. It wasn't a good one, so he decided to keep a safe distance. She looked a little off, too, but he couldn't exactly spot why from the stretch he left between them. "What's the special occasion" He was blissfully unaware of what it could be, and it was hard for him to imagine that he was the cause of it.

Her fishing expedition bore fruit, to mix some metaphors, in a surprisingly short amount of time. Kai came moseying up with all the amiability and well-restedness of a wolf who hadn't just single-parented three energetic puppies for a month. She scowled at his pleasant greeting, then narrowed her eyes slyly and with fake casualness said, "Its funny you should ask. Its not so much what today is, but about a special occasion that you have, unfortunately, missed. A birthday." She waited a beat, scowl losing none of its heat, before adding, "Your kids' birthday, in fact, because you and your super swimmers over there managed to get me pregnant. Congratulations, woohoo, you're a daddy now." No point in small talk before getting right into the meat of the reason she'd called him there, and certainly no reason to cushion him from the shock either because she sure hadn't been.

Despite her initial barely-reigned-in calm, her eyes said it all. She was pissed, more specifically at him, and it wasn't until she started speaking that he had any clue what the hell she was about to unleash upon him. But at first, for a split second, he was wildly confused. He and Justice weren't so close that he should've remembered her birthday, and stupidly he was stunned, trying to come up with something witty to retort. He didn't have long to think before she corrected his doubts, explaining that he'd missed... his kids' birthday? Oh, fuck. He wasn't oblivious to the fact that this exact scenario was a possible outcome; he just hadn't sat around and thought about it very much.

For a moment he was silent, jaw unhinged as he tried to wrap his head around what she'd just said. "Oh," he said dumbly, for once in his life at a loss for what to say. At least initially, as the shock faded and a million questions buzzed around in his head. Unlike Justice, he wasn't pissed off at the surprise, but then again... he also hadn't been the one giving birth to them, so he couldn't entirely fault her for it. "How many kids do I have? Er, we?" He added hastily. He had no clue how this whole parenting this was supposed to work, but he hadn't envisioned it like this. And damn, Justice was a lot less pleasant than he'd remembered. He was mostly consumed with questions though. How long would they stay with Justice? Surely they weren't ready to be on their own yet? What were her intentions with them? She wouldn't try to keep them from him, right? Surely not if she'd come to find him. Despite not knowing what the fuck was going on, he already wanted to meet them and supposed he'd figure everything else along the way.
