Come down, come down sweet reverence

Jynn intended to work her way down south through Boreas and back into Auster. She'd made it a fair way before running into a particularly irate grizzly bear. Jynn intended to just out run the beast and get away but the bear was not only faster than she first thought but it was also more relentless. The bear chased her through the prairie and right towards a large lake. She'd just about skittered over it when she caught the pack scent. Screeching to a halt she intended to change direction but in that moment the grizzly leapt for her. Jynn yelled and rolled to the side, just avoiding the bear's claws as it skidded over the pack's border and bumped into a fallen log.

Summer was falling away and Deus' mood was darkening along with it. The leaves were changing and beginning to fall, and the nine-month old pup was angrily stomping upon each bit of crunchy foliage he could possibly find. His uncle was dead and it was all his fault. The others of his family had felt the blow just as hard, and Deus couldn't help but feel like they blamed him for it too. To keep away from their judgmental stares the pup stuck to the border, hoping to erase his mistake by proving himself useful to Aerie as more then a death-enabler.

The thumping of heavy paws towards the border drew the near-yearling's attention and he froze, remembering the sound the earth made as it cracked and killed his uncle. The sight of the bear chasing what seemed to be a fox brought him back to the present and he lurched forward as the stranger crossed his borders and crashed into a log. "Watch out!" He yelled, leaping towards the bear and grasping a face full of it's fur in his jaws. It didn't do much other then hang the pup off the beast's shoulder, but if he could pester it enough the fox might be able to find his footing once more.

Well, shit! She'd heard the pup's voice a moment before he charged and bit onto the bear's shoulder. The pup dangled there as the bear's jaws lunged for him. Jynn leapt forward, her long legs enabling her to strike the bear in a single leap as her jaws latched over the left side of the bear's face. Her fangs sank in deep and the bear roared. It tipped back onto its hind legs and shoved violently forward with its front legs, its paws slamming int Jynn's chest and sending her flying to the ground. "Argh!" A cry fell from her lips as she hit the ground. Ow, ow, ow… she winced as she rolled onto her stomach and back onto her feet, hoping the boy was still ok.

The fox returned to the fight and as the bear roared up and struck out with his forelimbs towards her, Deus could keep his hold no longer. The pup crashed to the ground with a heavy 'oof', wincing as he watched the beast charge once more for his would-be-meal. It took him a few moments to find his feet once more and was glad in that instant that it's attention was upon the fox - though when he noticed she was still upon the ground his heart dropped in his chest. The young Abraxas snarled, jumping forward to meet the bear's charge from the side and lunging for it's face this time. While he'd aimed for it's muzzle, Deus had little practice with fast-moving targets and missed. Thankfully his teeth still hit flesh, and they raked down across the bear's eye and cheek. The creature threw back it's head and gave a furious roar - it's attention momentarily torn from the down fox - and Deus skittered backwards to give himself some space before the bear might retaliate. "Run, little dude!" He yelled towards the fox, not quite realizing yet that there was nowhere to run aside from deeper into Aerie territory.   "Speech" "Thinking" "You."

Jynn swiftly set her defenses again, her large ears pinning down to her head. The boy yelled at her to run but there was no way she was leaving him to fight against a bear alone. With a vicious snarly she charged toward the bear, this time aiming purposely for the bear's good eye. She nimbly leapt forward, avoiding the bear's swiping claws just long enough to leap at its face. Her fangs pierced through the remaining eye and she bounded away, just missing getting struck again by the bear. It roared and stumbled back, a paw swiping at its face, tossing blood everywhere. Surely that would be it. Would it retreat now? She watched the bear back up, clearly in pain and confused.

Deus' energy was running low, though his adrenaline was enough to keep him on his paws to help save the life of the poor fox who'd stumbled in. While he'd asked her to run she'd stepped back to her attacker once more, and Deus shot forward snarling and snapping to try and intimidate the bear further. The fox's teeth raked across it's face and the bear roared and stumbled. Deus launched himself to it's side and bit against the blinded bear's ribs, further convincing it that this meal was too much to risk. It swiped out blindly, missing the pup, and he backed up to allow it to flee. He watched as it stumbled away and then let out a large bellowing sigh before turning to the fox. "Are you okay? Abraxas was on our side today, thank God." A pup his age shouldn't be taking on a bear, that much he knew. If Abraxas had wanted him to die for allowing Aureus' life to end, he hadn't wanted it to be at the paws of a bear. "Speech" "Thinking" "You."
