Jupiter walked backwards with the ankle of a disembodied deer leg clutched in his jaws. He'd guilt tripped Tyrian into giving it to him to save him the trouble of hunting. This was dinner or, rather, a peace offering as he tried to adjust to married life. It was strange to not only 1) share his life and space with someone but 2) do that with a complete stranger who couldn't have been anymore more different than him if she tried. It was weird and awkward, and he was struggling to cope. No one had ever expected anything from him before and here he was with this woman who had some very serious and scary expectations. Fearing basically everything the marriage entailed, Jupiter had pretended to pass out on their wedding night to avoid that aspect of marriage. Since then he had dipped and dodged anything that seemed remotely linked to sex with the woman. He just couldn't - and it wasn't for lack of interest. His celibacy quite literally chafed at him and he'd never gone this long without something, but his fear of commitment so far had been enough to sustain him.
He arrived at the entrance to their den and dropped the leg. Before the wedding Jupiter had taken a page out of Chaos' book and made himself a den in one of the knolls' many crypts. It was something he'd never done before. He'd never really had a reason to make a serious shelter for himself. Ever since he was small he'd lived with the knowledge that his digs were temporary. Why wouldn't they be when he had no desire to stay anywhere for long? But, unhappy as he'd been at the prospect of marriage, Jupiter had known a solid, permanent den was a good idea. In a way he'd wanted to give something to the woman to make up for what he'd known all along was going to be a shitshow. For that reason, even in his time of mourning, he'd taken great pains to make their home presentable. He'd made shelves and storage nooks and yes, a big comfy bed. Everything a couple could have wanted, he had done his best to provide. The only thing he hadn't included, because duh, why would he, was room for a family.
After taking a deep breath Jupiter called down into the den, "Alfrun? I brought dinner..." He wasn't even sure she was still down there, but it seemed like a good place to start.

She'd assumed that at least part of the reason that Valkyrie had chosen a young, virile man for her husband was to ease the way to a litter or two before her aging body could no longer carry pups, yet her new husband had shied away from any sexual contact. It was... odd, to say the least, but Alfrun did not have experience with sexual matters, and perhaps she was misinterpreting something. Or perhaps it was time to take more... drastic measures.
She was within the well-appointed den that her husband had provided, stripping the dried leaves from a mint plant in preparation for crumbling it into the storage jar, occasionally crooning to the raven perched over her, when her husband called. She paused in her movements, then set aside the mint and rubbed her cheek against Tanken's beak before slipping out of the den, hoping to catch her husband this time before he could disappear. "Good day, Jupiter," she said calmly, her ethereal voice somewhat firmer than usual. "Won't you join me?" She sought intently to force him to meet her gaze by moving in front of him fearlessly, her head tilted slightly. She let the Othersight's swirls of color surround Jupiter without paying them much mind, fixing her odd-colored gaze on his own bright eyes instead. She rather doubted that her visions would do any particular good in a situation such as this, where the gods would undoubtedly expect her to figure it out on her own.

He waited, mildly uneasy, for Alfrun's response. Jupiter was so far outside his comfort zone he was at a loss over how to behave. He rarely had to put so much thought into anything because the consequences were never an issue. It was easy to shrug his shoulders and accept whatever came his way. He didn't care what anyone thought about him or how little they expected. With few exceptions all the mattered was what he wanted in the moment. Until now anyway. His family was the biggest part of his 'exceptions' and they kind of tangled around this whole marriage thing. So he had to care about Alfrun's thoughts and feelings because her happiness - or at the very least her well being - was integral to making this damn thing work. Hopefully he didn't have to keep it up forever because this paying attention to someone else thing was fucking hard.
She rose up out of the den like a tiny little wraith and greeted him somewhat formally, which further underscored the awkwardness of the situation in his mind. "Good day, Alfrun," he returned, feeling dumb and ineffective all the while. Jupiter stood there lamely unsure of what to do with himself and more importantly his eyes as Alfrun moved in front of him. As expected he was forced to meet her gaze which furthered his discomfort because it was clear that was what she was after. The need to be good and thus ignore his tendency to be capricious and contrary left him feeling disadvantaged against what felt like an agenda.
Jupiter cleared his throat. "Of course," he said while absently patting the hoof. "That's actually what I was hoping for. Give us a chance to talk, you know." Get to know one another, maybe be less awkward. God he hoped something came after this awkwardness.
