Getting this far east had been a task in and of itself, but now that he was here Hattori was free once again to hunt. At first glance the Rock Garden didn't appear to be a good place for it, the terrain was craggy and littered with stones of all shapes and sizes, but Hattori saw opportunity when other's may have written it off as a waste of time. The mountain loomed in the distance and with winter approaching he knew the ibex that called it home would have started their descent to lower, flatter terrain. Sure enough, as he treaded over the rocky ground it didn't take him long to track down  signs of ibex activity, hoof prints and droppings strewn all over the place and as Hattori scanned the horizon he saw a flicker of movement in the distance. A small herd of four or five individuals, all grouped tightly together as they picked at the short grass.

Now that he'd tracked them down he paused and squatted low to remain out of sight just behind one of the larger rocks that littered the land. Approaching without being seen would be difficult and he knew a long distance chase on his sort of terrain was less than ideal. The last thing he wanted was to limp back to Ashen cause he tripped on a rock.

With winter on the way Twig was eager to bring some food back to Abaven to keep everyone fed during the cold and lean months. She ventured forth from her home’s borders to thin out the herds elsewhere. As the Memoire woman traveled further from Abaven she regretted more and more not having Corvus come along with her. How many times did she have to give up an opportune moment because she was alone out here? Of course Twig had also figured that she would see a lot more of the smaller game instead of the large animals she’d been seeing for the most part.

Frustration was beginning to build as her dainty paws took her over the plains littered with rocks. Eventually her bright purple gaze fell on the Ibex herd, and again she was about to throw a fit over her luck when she spotted the man behind his rock. Opportunity made itself obvious and she made her way closer. Quiet enough she wouldn’t spook the animals but obvious enough she wouldn’t spook her hopefully stranger turned partner.

”Hey,” she whispered, ducking behind the boulder. ”Think we could strike up a deal?”

Hattori's ears tipped back, he heard the woman approach but he chose not to look away from the herd, lest they vanish from sight. Her request was rather self explanatory, she'd was offering her paw in return of a share of the kill. His eyes narrowed into a squint as he thought about it, in the distance the ibex continued to graze, inching closer in their direction. The longer they remained in place the higher the chance they'd bee seen, the sooner they got moving the better. Hattori stepped forward, moving parallel so that he'd keep out the ibex's cone of vision. Goats and their weird eyes.

"I shall get in position and you drive them towards me."

He moved at a trot then, hiding his form behind the larger rocks and borders. It was a tried and tested routine, the sort of plan that had served him well time and time again. In terrain like this it would better to take advantage of the cover, rather than run the risk of catching a paw on a wayward stone. He crotched low, orange and black form smushed up against old grey stone. And now he waited.

She didn’t get much of his attention but she couldn’t blame him either. Her own bright eyes shifted quickly from his crouched body to the herd that slowly approached the pair of them. Her pale coat made her highly visible against the green grass, thankfully most of it was starting to lose its color. She side eyed the man and his bright orange markings and couldn’t imagine hunting with that kind of visibility. Maybe their prey couldn’t see bright colors like that.

His answer said more than the words they contained. He’d agree to her proposal and give out a quick course of action. Twig nodded slowly before she slunk the opposite way. The string of boulders mostly kept her hidden until she could hook back around to the right spot. She’d manage to get as close as possible before exploding from the rocks.

Her dainty feet navigated the treacherous grounds as she spooked the ibex and the herd took off right towards where the lone hunter should be lying in wait.

Hattori wasn't left waiting long. He heard the thudding of hooves long before he saw the approaching figures, all skittish and panicky as the pale she wolf chased hot on their heels. He crotched lower, muscles coiled like a spring as he waited with baited breath. He wouldn't have long to chose a target, it would have to be a snap decision made in the heat a moment but Hattori was certain his mind and body was up to the task. All the needed was one second, that would surely be enough.

And then the ibex rushed past and Hattori lunged forth, eyes flitting between the herd as he settled on a target; one that was just a hint smaller than the rest. His form collided with the goat and they were sent tumbling, as his talons dug in deep and he arched his neck to clamp down on the back of it's throat with his waiting jaws. Blood spilled over the rocks and Hattori had played his part well.

This was a comfortable position for the woman, she was fast and had the stamina to back her up, and chasing was her talent. She herded the animals like she’d been bred for it, keeping them in the exact direction she wanted them to go. Not one animal put a toe out of like and by the time they raced past Hattori’s position they were spaced evenly and the orange marked wolf was able to make a kill shot.

The flighty animals raced forward as the massive man dropped his target. Twig hurried forward and took her place to help subdue the beast in its last struggle. The faster it died the better. With all her effort Twig held on and in moments the life of it left and the wolves were rewarded with their kill. Twig pulled back and sat back on her haunches, finally able to make the attempt to catch her breath.
