As a pup, although not really able to understand seasons at that point, Emer had decided that Autumn was her favourite time of year. It had mostly been the colours really, the fact that the trees had begun to look a little like her. These days she was barely able to recall those fond memories clearly though there was a part of her that couldn't help but still agree with her youth. The early days of autumn were certainly pleasant, the leaves starting to change and the weather retaining some of that summer warmth, fighting away the frost that winter would soon bring.

Although Autumn was well and truly here now, Emerald Valley certainly didn't show much sign of acknowledging that fact, still living up to its name. The weather had of course cooled, not that Emer was familiar enough with Alacritis to really comment upon that fact, but in the grassy valley, the various browns of her coat certainly stood out far more than they would in woodland areas. There was no need to try and hide this afternoon though, her stomach was still full from her recent meal and peaceful was a perfectly suitable word to describe her surroundings at the moment.

On she moved through the grasses, her only care currently in avoiding stepping too close to the borders of the nearest pack, its lands very close. She had almost panicked for a moment, believing she may had trespassed upon catching the strong scent earlier, though had soon discovered she had been mistaken and simply ensured to move in the opposite direction of those boundaries, her current path now walking her along the edge of the winding river.

Restlessness had grabbed hold of Arella and refused to let go. Though she wouldn't trade her life in Valhalla for anything, she found existence painfully boring at times. There seemed to be so little going on that involved her -- but then again, maybe she hadn't tried hard enough to be involved. With a sigh the girl traversed across the Valhallan territory, anxious and unwilling to remain within the borders for much longer today.

Already it was afternoon, with the sun glimmering brilliantly overhead. Despite the cold that had begun to take hold of the land, by this time, the sun had warmed the land still. She felt no desperate longing for warmth, but instead the chilly breeze that swept past was quite refreshing. One ebony-furred paw followed the other, and step by step as made her way aimlessly to wherever her body would take her. As she traveled, she noted how different everything looked. So much more colorful. Blue eyes danced about, taking in the scenery with delight. Time seemed to fly by, and before long she stood before a vast valley. Below, she noted, a gentle river wound through the territory.

With a wag of her tail, she began the trek down the gentle slops into the massive indentation in the earth's surface. Her nose caught the presence of a stranger long before she saw them in her visual field. Still as friendly as she had always been, immediately she directed herself in the stranger's direction, wearing a light grin. Always extroverted, she hardly hesitated as she drew herself closer. From a great distance she let loose a welcoming bark, beckoning her to speak. "Hi there!" She called loudly, beaming kindly.

The sounds of the river were certainly somewhat calming, dragging her mind into a peaceful state of near nothingness. With the pack's borders now behind her, Emer had little to worry about and found the little walk was perfectly relaxing, a wonderful way to spend this pleasant afternoon. Of course beyond these little walks, the only other thing the autumnal coloured wolf really had to do was eat or sleep, though the things her life was lacking at the moment certainly were not lingering on her mind and disrupting her tranquil state.

There was only one thing that would break that it seemed as another wolf suddenly approached her, the greeting awaking her back to the real world once more. "Hi there!" She certainly sounded friendly enough, and the smile seemed to suggest that fact as well. A most fortunate outcome for both wolves, given that Emer herself was also a kindly character, and had now paused to look upon the other wolf, a small smile crossing her own features in return.

"Hello." Emer responded, it was friendly enough though certainly quieter in volume with a slight hint of timidness in comparison to the bold call given from the younger female only moments before hand. She had turned her direction once more now, moving to meet the stranger half way, wondering what had caused her to seek out her company. Now closer she could smell the scent of the pack whose borders she had nearly crossed, perhaps she had been followed up the river from the near incident. It didn't look like the other would tell her off though, so Emer simply remained hopeful that if that had indeed been the case she would be able to explain herself to the other.

Arella was enamored with adventure ... with running as far as her four paws would carry her, taking her into the unknown. A smile lit up her features -- not just from the sight of a new, rather friendly face, but from the beautiful scenery. The brilliant orange and yellow and red colors were somewhat new to her -- though she was a yearling now, she hardly remembered appreciating such beauty as a newborn.

Behind her, the girl's tail would begin to wag furiously. Though she was always sociable, sometimes she felt unsure how others would take her forward nature. Perhaps she was too friendly sometimes? Too trusting? She shrugged a bit to herself, her smile growing as she padded a bit closer to the woman. Quietly she would sniff at the air, wondering if she was from a neighboring pack. The thought of the recent meeting was somewhat alarming -- knowing a war might potentially be on the very near horizon. "My name is Arella! And what's yours, miss?"

The wolf before Emer was certainly a cheerful individual, this expressed by the wide grin and fast paced tail that it seemed wasn't about to stop wagging any time soon. Perhaps she was a little forward, and though she could typically be a little nervous, it was likely the friendliness to go with that bold attitude that had stopped Emer from considering bolting in the opposite direction of the black wolf. No, she didn't have a problem with the girl, it was rare to calm down quite so swiftly, but already she did feel rather relaxed once more, not believing herself to be in any danger.

"My name is Arella! And what's yours, miss?" The politeness that accompanied this happy wolf was all the more charming in Miss Emer's mind. The fears that perhaps she had been followed by the pack had faded and instead she was prepared to simply enjoy a little bit of company on this beautiful day. It had been a while since she had spoken to another, and Arella certainly seemed to be rather lovely. "I'm Emer." She introduced herself.

Though she was over a year old, it wasn't entirely common that Arella got to speak with rogues, and members of other packs. She was loyal to Valhalla, a value that had been quickly instilled in her and her siblings ... and though she felt restless quite often, it kept her home most of the time. But since the meeting, she was beginning to feel as though she ought to help out a bit more. Soon she would beginning to really train as a hunter, and she was totally unsure how she felt about that. It was probably for the best, as she had no interest in fighting or plants...

Her mind drifted only momentarily, smile faltered for a mere pawful of seconds before the expression returned to illuminate her youthful face. The woman before her seemed a bit reserved, but that wasn't alarming -- not many wolves were as forward as she was. A quick sniff of the frigid autumn air told her that Emer was likely not a pack wolf. Her scent betrayed no kind of scent that would imply she was. "Are you from a pack?" she inquired lightly, genuinely curious. "I am from Valhalla!"

To be honest once upon a time Emer would have been in a rather similar position to Arella. Her own life had been very sheltered up until the moment she chose to leave. The wolves she spoke to had been members of her pack, wolves she had grown up around and the family knew well. She hadn't really felt that restless feeling though, strange then that here she was with no idea if she would return home. Her urge to travel had been to make a point more than anything else, and now she was out and about, truth be told that point seemed less and less important with each and every day.

Perhaps it was that sheltered upbringing that had left her so quiet, others had generally taken over the speaking in group environments and if she found herself alone with anyone, it was a wolf that she knew well, and one that equally understood she wasn't exactly the most talkative girl in the world. It wasn't a hard fact to notice about her, and it seemed that the dark female before her was already catching onto that fact, not that she mentioned it at all, at least not yet anyway.

Instead the topic was brought to packs. "Are you from a pack? I am from Valhalla!" Whilst her natural scent still remained, no longer did she carry the one of her pack, faded and mingled with all kinds of different ones from her long travels. It well and truly fitted the description of a rogue, and although once she had planned to eventually return home, now she'd be lying if she answered a simple yes to Arella's question. "No, not right now." She didn't expand too much upon her answer, she didn't exactly want to tell her life's story and was certain that no one would really want to hear it anyway. The statement was the truth and it would do the job. "Is Valhalla the pack that's nearby then?" She of course had already put two and two together, though thought perhaps she ought to say something else. Perhaps Arella would speak a little more about her home, not that the idea of joining was one that had crossed into Emer's mind at all.

Her gaze remained animated and bright as she examined Emer. She answered, saying she wasn't a pack wolf; what an interesting thought to the Arella, who had never known anything but living in the largest pack in the lands. Perhaps not the whole world, but ... for quite a while, or so she was told. A smile remained on her lips, her expression never anything but pleasant as the two conversed.

"Is it lonely sometimes? Being a rogue?" The question spilled out quickly, and immediately she regretted the very personal inquiry. She really, really needed to think before she spoke. "I'm sorry, none of my business." Her tail wagged, head dipping apologetically. She knew loneliness, too, despite the fact that she had always known the company of a large pack -- her father and three of her siblings had all but disappeared, and she felt rather alone most of the time, even though she would never admit it.

"Yes, Valhalla is close. It's very lovely. If you go a bit east of here, you'll see huge plains -- that's my home." She was proud of it, and her grin widened slightly. "If you ever want to visit, I'm sure that would be okay!?" Winter was coming soon, and she knew how hard it could be to find prey, especially for a lone wolf. She didn't like the idea of her new friend starving to death.

Emer had once found herself in a similar situation, up until her departure, she had spent her entire life within a fairly large pack and one to be honest that to this day she could see no fault in. The life of a rogue had probably seemed more interesting before the actual departure, though it had of course been mainly to prove a point than to actually explore. What on earth she was doing here now then, she had no idea at all, the planning process was certainly lacking vital steps right now.

"Is it lonely sometimes? Being a rogue? I'm sorry, none of my business." The young girl quickly thought the question to be somewhat rude, however the small smile upon Emer's face didn't falter, in fact only grew a little more at her apology. "It can get lonely." She stated. Pleasant company like this certainly made a refreshing change of pace that was often welcomed, even to the quiet girl.

Arella excitedly explained more of Vahalla, confirming Emer's assumption. To be honest, whilst the dark girl before her certainly seemed to be friendly, Emer certainly doubted that she had the power to welcome strangers to visit the pack and wasn't sure how fondly the rest of them may look upon her arrival. Perhaps she was too wary, knowing full well she wouldn't simply stroll unannounced into the lands, that truly would be foolish. "I'll bear that in mind." She simply responded with a smile. Maybe she would, if she called for Arella first perhaps so that she could be introduced should anyone question her presence.
