The Jungle Book
It had scarcely been a few hours since he’d been accepted into Ashen but Raijin was quick to begin exploring. He had a lot of ground to cover, considering they were also apparently allied to Ashen Armada, a nearby offshoot from this main pack. It was a common notion to him for there to be splinters from a main pack, hell even Iga had several villages on the outskirts of the main hub, though he realized that not all packs functioned like that. He’d come across small packs and big packs alike which ran differently from the way he’d been raised and each of them functioned in their own manner that best worked for them. As long as it worked he had no reason to judge.
He’d decided to visit an island described to be a jungle with a large mountain in the middle. He didn’t think he would be exploring the mountain that day, perhaps the next, but perhaps he could catch himself something to snack on within the dense foliage and meet some of his new packmates. Ever the social butterfly, the man was eager to start forming relationships with those around him. The more he knew the more powerful he felt because then he could start deducing what made them tick and what they could be persuaded to do. Not that he would manipulate them...but just in case. So, he trekked on through the jungle.

Chimera had just been returning to one of the smaller islands. The one that he and Siren had claimed as their home. In his jaws the young wolf was lugging half of a deer. The other half he'd given to the woman that helped him run off a lioness. He wasn't always rude, aggressive and unfair. She had deserved some sort of reward for her work. Besides, the meal was for Siren. Had it just been a simple kill, he might very well have fought the woman for it. In order to get to the smaller island that was his and Siren's, Chi had to swim to one of the larger first. Since the deer was so bulky, once he made it to that first island, he sat it down in the grass and gave his jaws a break. The black and white boy gave his thick coat a shake, sending it sticking out in spikes of wet fur. It was then that he saw the multi-hued man passing through. An intruder, perhaps? Chimera went stalking forward, stiff legged. He wouldn't allow intruders so close to his island; so close to Siren. "You," he growled. "Who are you?" Though he hadn't fully bulked out, he was definitely already his full dire height. "Speech" |

Raijin had expected to possibly meet some of his new packmates on his outing, but perhaps not so soon and certainly not one who was so...standoffish. Though, he supposed anyone would react that way when he didn’t even have the scent of the pack on him yet. For all intent and purposes, he did smell like an outsider and would for at least a week. So, he supposed the young man in front of him was just doing his job.
His posture remained relaxed as he turned to face the dual-toned yearling who had several inches on him. He was admittedly good looking, though young for Raijin’s tastes. “My name is Genji Raijin, though you can call me Raijin. I joined a few hours ago with Hattori and Venom’s blessing and wanted to get a head start on seeing the territory,” he explained with a friendly grin. “Might I ask your name?”

Ugh, why was the man so agreeable? So he was a new addition to this new... whatever... that Venom and her slave man were building. No matter what Venom called her man, he would never be on the same level as Chimera. Plus he looked like a fish and fish were gross. Mismatched ears flicked forward and the boys pale, working eye looked the man over as he gave his name. A moment later he asked for Chimera's own name. "Chimera Klein," he answered simply, then went on to give the man some information. "The small island nearby is off limits. Do not go there." That was his island. His and Siren's. The young wolf sought to maintain a safe space for his tiny sister and her tiny island deer. "Do you understand?" He needed to hear it from the man's lips. Then if he broke his word, Chimera would be well within his rights to rip into his hide. "Speech" |

The man offered a dip of his head in greeting to the other as he gave his name. Chimera Klein. An interesting name surely, though he supposed it made sense with his two colored pelt. Chimeras were a popular lore in his culture, a creature born of two that did not belong, sometimes in the form of a lion mixed with an eagle or some other odd combination. His parents seemed to understand this when they named him. But, his posture never seemed to soften even after the introduction. Instead, he got even more defensive. He instructed the Genji man to stay away from the nearby small island, much more an order than a suggestion and Raijin’s eyebrows rose.
The other’s posture and manner of speaking seemed...protective, like he was trying to keep him away from something there. He couldn’t tell if it were dangerous or not, and it was certainly befuddling considering that the island was under the claim of Ashen and, therefore, none others should consider it private. Still, he offered a nod of his head. “Alright, thank you for the warning. Is there something I should be wary of there, something dangerous?” he inquired. Surely Chimera could at least answer that, after all, as his pack mate and a new one at that he deserved a proper explanation.

The interest in his warning wasn't lost on Chimera. Pink and white eyes narrowed slightly as the brute asked what was on the island and whether or not it was dangerous. The young wolfs two-toned pelt bristled slightly as he spoke in low, almost growling tones. "Just me." He wouldn't tell the man of Siren, but he would make it clear that the small island was his space. He lived apart from the rest of the pack for a reason. Chimera liked his solitude. He liked knowing that Siren was safe even if he wasn't there. "Just stay away from it." That was his last warning. Curiosity could get the better of stupid wolves and if this Raijin set paw on the little island, he would pay for it with blood. Though young, Chimera was already well versed in the world of fighting. Larger opponents, smaller opponents. They all bled the same. Because this wolf was pack though, he was giving him ample opportunity to keep himself safe. "Speech" |

Chimera’s posture only grew more aggressive and Raijin decided to stop poking this apparently sensitive bear. Whatever it was he was hiding, he was sure he’d find out eventually. After all, this was a pack that thrived on sending and receiving information, he was sure not much could be hidden from the going ons of within. “Alright, my apologies. I didn’t mean to offend,” he said, trying to things over. “Is there anything or anyone else I should be wary of? As I said, I’m new and don’t intend on stepping on any toes.” Well, not yet anyways, he thought.
The question was perfectly harmless on the surface and hopefully the yearling would think Raijin considered him a good source of information, considering he'd been...generous enough to give him the warning about the island.Talking, Talking in Italics means he's speaking Japanese
Raijin apologized as he very well should. He was pushing buttons that would be better off not being pushed. If Chimera saw the man on the island or around Siren... he wouldn't be so nice next time. No one was allowed on the little island. No one. He wouldn't even be happy to see Venom or Hattori there. Just him, Siren, and the slave. A huff left the boys mottled nares as the man asked if there was anyone else to be wary of. His simple answer was, "No." Well, this was conversation enough for one day. Or for a week. Chimera didn't enjoy talking to anyone other than Siren. They weren't worth his time. He thought about warning the man away from the island again, but decided not to waste his breath. If the man hadn't been sufficiently warned, then he was an idiot and deserved to get bitten. Without another word, the two-toned boy turned and began making his way back towards the island.
