Dhiren drank a few sips from the flowing stream near their den. He let the cool water flow down his throat and into his stomach, relief sweeping over his form in the process. The four-month-old raised his head to look around him, stream water dripping from the fur on his chin and down to the ground. He silently wondered what would happen that day. The opportunities were endless, in his eyes at least.
His black head turned to look over his shoulder, white ear moving in the direction of the den. He heard a scuffle of paws from the entrance, moving to meet his own dark form near the water bed. Dhiren's tail began to wag as he happily nuzzled Lakota's cheek. "Good morning, Kota!" he merrily said, tail wagging faster to emphasize the delight he had in seeing his younger sister. He waited until she had drank her fill of water before asking, "What do you wanna do today? The world is our oyster!...whatever that means," he shyly added. Paws carried him away from the river bed and towards the drier part of the 'front yard' around their family den. Gold and silver eyes looked at the trees that were slowly changing color. He blinked and then looked over to his sister with the opposite color of her ear like him. Dhiren quietly waited for her response.

The now four month old she-pup would rise from her sleeping spot in the den, careful to step over her sisters and trod on any tails or ears, taking one last leap over her siblings as she tumbled and stumbled her way to the entrance of their den, dual-toned eyes of ruby and topaz spotting her older brother Dhiren's figure up by the stream. Grinning, the young girl would trot towards her brother, bumping his shoulder with her own, giggling with delight as he would kiss her cheek. The ivory pup would return the nuzzle to her darker brother's cheek, her own tail wagging furiously behind her smaller haunches at his greeting. Morning Ren! She would call out happily in return.

Lakota would take a moment to turn away from her brother, leaning down to allow her salmon tongue to snake from her jaws, lapping at the chilled water of the stream. The atmosphere was changing, she could feel it, but she didn't know why or how, just that it was. She wasn't sure if she liked it yet. Having had her fill, she would lift her head, gaze coming back to rest on her brother's face as he asked what she wanted to do today. The girl would take a moment to ponder this question, her ivory and ebony paws carrying her along as she trailed after Dhiren. Well I don't know. What did you wanna do today? There were so many possibilities that she couldn't choose. It was very difficult and she decided to let her brother choose for her.

He was definitely excited about the potential of the day that stretched out for the two of them. With his sister at his side, who knew what would happen? That question escaped Lakota's lips and entered his brain, only to spin a few times afterward. "Hmmm..." he verbally hummed, trying to think of what he and his sister could get into. Suddenly, an idea came to mind.
"What if we went and looked at the scenery first? Mama said that there is a hill nearby that shows how big the rest of our packlands look. She also said the colors are changing and they are very pretty." He wasn't sure if she was into that kind of stuff -- looking at the changes that happened in nature and how amazing they were. Dhiren knew that he enjoyed it whenever he went with Mama or Novel, so it was an automatic assumption that maybe the other girls in his litter would like it, too. If not, they could always pick something else.
