Resin clearly had more surprises up her sleeve and made that all the more apparent when she got the pack's attention once again and made a statement about family - by blood or by choice. Her expression softened from curiosity to absolute adoration as Resin began to call each of their children's names and give them all the surname that they had talked about sharing back before their move to Auster. It was something that she hadn't dwelled on too much since that day and she hadn't known that Resin was going to give the name to them in such a grand manner so it caught her off guard in the best way. They had raised the lot of them together and had parented them equally so it had never felt like Resin wasn't also their mother even though they didn't share a blood relation, but now with a surname shared between them all... it felt all the more real.

A huge, delighted grin crossed her face when Resin addressed her as her mate and officially gave her the Carpathius name as well, her tail sweeping excitedly over the floor behind her. She'd never put much weight on or worried about having a title for what they were before, but that didn't mean that it didn't mean a lot to hear it. This was what she had always wanted having a mate to be - not like how her family had always led her to believe it should be. This was love and respect and protection and family. Everything she had always dreamed about. Once the rest of the group went back to their feast and Resin turned her attention back to Tamsyn, the smaller woman immediately reached up to give her mate a loving kiss, though she didn't linger too long since she knew they were still in everyone's company for now. "That was perfect," she told her with another grin. It wasn't a elegant ceremony with sweeping pomp and circumstance, but it was to the point and made a wonderful impact - nothing less than she would expect from her direct and to the point mate.

Artorias lifted his head with a mouthful of roasted meat when his mother continued her address to the pack. He watched his mothers with studying eyes, observing the way they interacted, the way Resin spoke and carried herself as alpha, the way she spoke with resolution and command. A feast of family? That made sense, he supposed; a pack was a sort of family, after all. But then Resin continued, calling his name and the boy met her singular optic, then the names of each of his siblings, by blood or by adoption, and dropped the greatest surprise of his life. Artorias' mouth dropped open, gaping in awe as his mother named them all as part of a singular family—their family. Carpatihus. That was the name she had told him about back when they were living in Boreas, when he had shared his concerns about their familial bonds, and when she had consoled him. His mothers had chosen to take that name back and unite them all underneath it.

They were the Carpathius family. He was Artorias Carpathius, and he would bring honor to his family in his actions and his choices.

Pride swelled in the young boy's chest, a huge toothy smile splitting his muzzle from cheek to cheek. He was barely able to sit still, little paws tapping on the chair while he glanced back and forth between his siblings in attendance. They were all a real family now! Even Mama seemed to be just as happy as he had, and now mom Resin had given the name to Mama Tamsyn too and they were officially mates! Artorias gave a happy bark and bounded over to both of his parents, placing his paws up on their chairs to reach up and nuzzle each of his parents' legs in turn. He fixed his bright amber gaze on Resin, tail wagging a mile a minute, saying, "Thanks, Mom! This is the best surprise ever!" Truly it meant the world to the boy, and he now had something else to aspire to: to bring greatness to the Carpathius family name, to make it synonymous with strength and shelter. He would not let his parents down.

02-19-2021, 01:18 PM (This post was last modified: 02-19-2021, 01:26 PM by Dunkan.)

He watched how the different wolves interacted between each other. He kept his distance, observing , contemplating from the place he was sitting. He knew deep inside he wanted to talk but he just didnt know how to approach, how to begin. He couldn't remember when was the last time he ever felt happy, when he ever have fun. He never did at all, just having himself as the company, as the sibling he never had, as the family he never had. He could only trust in himself, and the rest of him could all betray him, or dont appreciate him. But why was he soo mattered with that? That shouldn't matter, he shouldn't care about what others did or not with him, what others said or not. He knew who he was, and until now he was a survivor, he survived until this day and it was because of his own will, of his own desire to live past the adevsirties he found in the start of his life. His mother departure long ago stopped being a matter, a topic to remember.

Resin spoke, he paid attention from his spot in the head of one of the tables. Looking and listening without intentions of coming any closer.

"Not only is this a feast of thanks, but it's a feast of family. Family is important and it's not always by blood, but by choice."  He looked at her but keeping a cold expression, the word family didnt exists, it didnt have a meaning. Why would it be? He'd never had a family, someone to call mom, dad, or whatever.

"Artorias, Daphne, Gwynevere, Bowen, Rudyard, Grimshaw and Avantika... I grant you the surname Carpathius."

There, in that right moment the cold-hearted of Dunkan felt it, he felt it. He felt how something inside him made crack, how something started to break apart. Those words came like a bucket of icy cold water over him, feeling how a sharp pain took over his heart. What was this feeling? This sensation or...loneliness? He felt how a knot formed in his throat, blocking any word from escaping.

He came to Resin's paws when he was a pup, he remembered when he lived with her as her pupil but at some pint he considered a mother, and still, he did. But he knew she did not saw him as such. As the family, he saw her as. So here and now that was confirmed. For her she was nothing, he couldn't help but feel pain, yes a sensation he felt years ago when he was a kid. He didnt knows how to react, how to act upon such pain, such feeling of just being someone who should he ever leave this world no one would care. But he didnt let those devouring feelings to taint his face which remained cold but deep inside he wanted to cry... 'Cry? Me? No, that's of a weakling. I am not, I am not weak..' There he felt his lip pull up in a rage, in frustration but no one but himself alone.

'Fuck.' He needed to leave, to leave before he couldn't control himself, he didnt want to show weakness, to show stupidity. He just felt like his walks craked down in a stumble. There he looked down to his paws, feeling everything around him disappear as his mind consumed every single drop of his strength, feeling alone. Feeling like if no one out of his now heart involved in a tempest.

'Family.. family is for the weak, for no use...no use...i dont need it...I dont need anything...no one...' He felt how everything cracked, how his mind went to blank, to the who knows where land. He needed to get out, to hide before this weak reaction of his was discovered. He was a warrior no a cry baby. All would be fine right? Everything was always all good for him, he was fine...yes he was...

He closed his eyes shut feeling everything get lost around him. Wasnt he, was ever he good enough for Resin? Did he was too weak for her? Was he too unworthy of never been seen as more than her apprentice? Did he mattered?.. He felt how in a quick second his eyes felt wet. "Fuck..." He muttered as calmly and trying not to call the attention of the rest he walked away, in silence trying to perhaps say he wanted to patrol. Yes, that should be fine.

Exit unless stopped-

Ulric glanced toward the entrance again to check for Emile and spotted the tan and white boy heading toward him. A soft smile pulled at his lips as Emile pressed into him and Ulric dipped his head to nuzzle his forehead gently. He knew he needed to be here for them more, to give more attention to his children that were here, but he felt like he couldn't live with himself until he tried every avenue to look for his missing fiancé and daughter. He lifted his head and looked around the room again, looking over Jayne, Fihona, and Ezra where they were scattered around the room among the rest of the pack - or very much off to the side in Ezra's case. They needed him and perhaps this was the perfect reminder of that. He watched Emile go to get his food and then move away to sit by Ezra, bringing another sad smile to his lips.

Resin spoke again and he looked up toward their leader with a touch of surprise and listened as she spoke of family and officially gave a surname to the pups that she and Tamsyn had been raising together - as well as declaring Tamsyn her mate. Ulric gave a more genuine smile to the happy news, though it did hit him with a bit of a bitter sweet twist to his stomach. It reminded him of the wedding that he had promised Azariah that he never actually had a chance to bring to fruition. It had gotten pushed off again and again with him moving them to the Hallows, with the birth of their pups, with all the work that had gone in to getting the pack to where it is now... And now he'd do anything to have her back so he could stop making excuses and bring the wedding they had planned to life.

Pushing the melancholy thoughts to the side he grinned and lifted his head to lead the rest of the pack in a celebratory howl, filling the hall with voices. Bitter sweet for himself or not, it was still a joyous occasion. If nothing else, he could whole heartedly agree that The Hallows were a family. His family. Having a family to rally behind and see strength in was never something he could disagree with so this was as much of a time of love and celebration for them all as it was for Resin and Tamsyn - two wolves that he looked up to and admired more than he could probably ever express.
