Keep Yourself Alive
Seasonal Prompt year 15; Fighting
Raijin had been quick to herd Malachai and Panic away once their assignments had been given, wanting to get started as soon as possible. This was partially because he was bored, but also because he wanted to judge where they were at so he could efficiently determine the course of training he wanted to take them each. Their first day would consist of a melee against him, allowing the man to assess both their individual and group work skills. Just as it was important for a shinobi to be able to handle themselves, it was equally important for them to be able to work with their counterparts.
With the pair trailing behind him, he made his way to a small clearing with enough room for them to maneuver around but still be in close quarters. Ashen didn’t yet have their own training grounds, something he fully intended to bring up to his cousin, but they had plenty of room to make do. He stopped and turned around to face the pair, a grin on his features. “Alright, welcome to Raijin’s course on Ass Kicking. I know you both know my cousin, Hattori, but despite being related we’re very different. I’m more handsome and more fun, for starters, but I also want you to enjoy your training. If your face is going to be shoved in the mud, you might as well have a laugh about it. That being said, I won’t tolerate slacking or disrespect. The things I teach you and the things you learn will, at one point or another, be applied to saving your life, so unless you want to end up 6 feet under, pay attention. Got it?”

So this was the one to train her and her brother? Her eyes widened upon seeing her now mentor. She was surprised, speechless the very least, and yet she couldn't tell if it was a surprise in a good way or in a bad way. Anyways she looked up to him and took her time to respond to all the flood of information. The part of "ass-kicking" was fun to hear and that defiantly picked her interest. That was one of the reasons she wanted to train, to kick asses, and see others cry for mercy under her wrath.
She could barely hold a laugh from what he said at last but along as she will become the one to shove someone into the mud she was fine with being polite, at the most part.
"Soooo where do we start?? I wanna kick asses now" She said looking at him excited as her tail wagged. Fear her viper sighed in annoyance.
To say the boy was disappointed by not being assigned to the Shogun would have been an understatement, he'd suppose he'd settle , for now, and he made a mental note to try and prove himself, maybe he could work hard enough to get the horned man's attention... All this was to say he wasn't super happy when he walked off with the wrong koi marked man. It didn't help that he'd been paired off with his sister, he'd already been told to stop being so rough with his much smaller siblings and he hated the idea he might be told to keep holding back for her sake. Still, he tried not to let his displeasure show too obviously, looking up at the fanged man and tried to take his words and really believe them, he did like what the man was proposing and he was eager to start pushing faces into the mud. So there was a genuine glint in his eye as he looked up at Raijin, his paw betraying just how eager he really was as he did the little excited puppy dance. "speak" |
He could tell that both the kiddos were excited to get started. It reminded him a bit of himself when he’d been their age, thinking he was ready to take on the world and be all that he could be. Raijin felt like he’d grown up decently well for all he’d been through, but it didn’t change the fact that the world was not, in fact, something anyone could take on alone. That was another reason being able to cooperate and work well with the wolves of your pack was so important. Everything was easier with a plus one.
The man chuckled at Panic, amusing plain in his expression. “Your wish is my command, kiddo,” he replied, his bobbed tail giving a good natured wiggle behind his hefty frame. “Today I’m going to be getting a rough idea of your skills, both with working together with others and yours personally. We’re going to do a little melee spar, where you both attack me at the same time and try to take me down. Don’t hold back, I want to see what you’ve got. Just try not to go for the face, it’s my prized possession. Any questions?”
