Mid-Life Crisis
Resin!

Lúta couldn't believe she was now four years old. It was strange to hit that age, what was often considered to be half of one's life in the region she was from. She'd spent the last few weeks doing some serious thinking on this new milestone. As she wandered about the neighboring territories collecting herbs she thought about what she wanted to get out of life and what the next step would be. She had a high rank and purpose. She had a wonderful pack. Was there really anything missing?
In the culture in which she was raised it was forbidden for a wolf of her station to have sexual relations with another until reaching the age of 4. Even though she'd long escaped the trappings of her former pack it had still had some bearing in her plans for herself and what she would allow herself to do. Children had never really factored into her thoughts til the arrival of spring. Well, autumn, here in Auster. During that time she'd spoken extensively with Shilah, a wolf from a similar nomadic lifestyle. She'd become quite taken with him and he'd agreed to be a donor for her to have a small family of her own. Now all they needed to proceed was the blessings of the alphess and to work out how their relationship would function going forward. Lúta settled in the courtyard and called for Resin, hoping she would be nearby.

The cuts and bruises of all those involved with the sabertooth attack were still taking their toll. As such, most wolves were sticking closer to home than they usually might; Resin included. Not one to sequester herself away, however, the grey and black fae was out in the side yard enjoying a rare sunny day amidst all the snow. She'd been resting upon one of the big slabs of stone where some sort of sculpture had once sat. The sun had warmed the stone and it was almost pleasant. It would have been more so had the snow begun to melt. Everyone was quite sick of winter and everything that it brought with it. Dark ears perked as Luta called for her. It was rare for the healer to need something so the ashen fae slid down from her perch and moved around the edge of the castle and into the courtyard where the sunset woman waited. "Luta," she said in greeting. The brow above the dames missing eye arched in silent question. The woman didn't seem upset or hurt, so she wondered what sort of query the woman would pose. "Speech"

Lúta did not have to wait long. Resin arrived, prompt as ever and still sporting wounds from the saber attack. She felt some guilt to have missed the attack and not been able to help against the invaders. Shilah had escorted her to the falls in search of rarer herbs. However, she supposed there was a silver lining. She was uninjured and thus able to help treat those who had been without needing to worry about her own injuries and Shilah could take up the slack on patrols so others could rest.
She smiled as Resin greeted her, feeling excitement and nervousness bubbling in her stomach. Lúta did wonder how Resin's injuries were doing but she wasn't sure she could contain herself enough for small talk so she opted to get right down to business. "Good day, Resin. I'll get right to the point. I'm interested in becoming a mother and come in search of your blessing to have children. Shilah has volunteered to help me with this endeavor and I've agreed. The women in my family rarely have more than two pups so I don't expect a big litter." Her grandmother had had three but everyone else either had singles or twins. She wasn't really sure why but assumed something genetic.

Luta wasted no time in telling Resin just why she'd called her. The Aegis blinked in mild surprise at the request. With Azariah and her daughter missing, there was indeed enough room for at least one pup, which the healer assured her would probably be the case. Resin would never have suspected that Luta would feel the need for a family simply because the woman seemed to precise and clinical. The request was indeed a surprise and not one that would go unanswered. "I could agree to that on the condition that Shilah helps fill the food stores as much as he's able." It was a prime opportunity to add another hunter to the mix, whether they were skilled in the field or no. Every wolf could hunt when they were hungry. Hunting had been rough with just herself and Rudyard pulling most of the weight. More mouths to feed would require more food. A pregnant mother required more food. Therefore the father of the pups should do all that he could to provide, whether he was simply a donor or no. Resin had no doubt that Luta would speak to Shilah and that he would agree. He was a good wolf and would do what was necessary. Finally, the ashen woman nodded her approval. "Permission granted. Congratulations." She spared the healer a rare smile. "Speech"

Lúta did her best to keep her nerves under control and not to get her hopes up to high. There was no need to rush and she knew the pack had a limited amount of wolves they could support. Still, she found herself eager. If not this year than she hoped the next. She wished to enjoy motherhood before old age settled in too deeply. Her ears perked up as Resin replied, stating that she could agree if Shilah helped out more with the food stores. Lúta quickly nodded. She couldn't imagine he'd have a problem with that and with autumn and winter moving into Auster he'd already mentioned that he planned to stick closer to the Hallows. Especially with the strange and terrifying creatures that seemed to be moving into the area. Wandering solo was a risky endeavor any more. "I'm sure he'd agree. I can't think of a reason he would decline." His people were nomadic and she knew he hunted frequently when he'd lived amongst them.
Resin then granted her permission and Lúta nearly bounced with excitement. "Thank you, Resin! I greatly appreciate it!" Oh, just wait til she told Shilah!

Luta's excitement brought a full grin from the normally stoic woman. "I would never deny a friend if it's within my power." If Luta was sure that her family only birthed small litters, then allowing her to become pregnant would be feasible. With Shilah hunting, it would make it even easier. Resin could see no downside. Though Luta was a healer, they had Aranea and Gwyn, though the girl was a novice. They would be able to tend to things when Luta came close to giving birth. "You should go tell Shilah. Let me know if there's anything that you need." The ashen fae did see the sunset healer as somewhat of a friend. They'd known one another for a little while and got along well enough. That was more than most. "Speech"
