The unprecedented cold continued farther south than Rœkia had expected. She entered the northern portions of a land called Boreas only to find the land still covered in snow despite the arrival of spring. She'd managed to stuff down the whirling mix of emotions that had followed the coup but she still had yet to make any plans for herself or for her cousin. Rœkia sighed heavily. What a pain! Rœkia drugged the girl and barricaded her in an abandoned den so she could get some time to herself to think and do a bit of scrounging. She regretted the vow with every step she took but she did not know yet how to divest herself from it while keeping her soul in tact.

Rœkia worked her way through the snow, the sun setting low in the sky. She was so focused on her own thoughts she did not notice a polar bear eyeing her in the distance with violence in its eyes.

When you didn't have a place to call home, everywhere was the place to be. There were no boundaries holding him back. No obligations to attend to. Simply his own agenda to follow if he wished to or neglect if he didn't. Today, Oxx didn't want to pursue his mother. Now that he knew where she was, the chase was over. Ah, nut thre games would just be starting.

A long legged lope took the giant across the wintery landscape. With no task to accomplish, he simply moved along, appreciating the scenery. There was snow everywhere. The world was a winter wonderland. Some may have complained, but not Oxx. Anything that didn't look like the swamp where he was blown was lovely.

Dark grey eyes shifted as they caught motion up ahead. He'd been expecting an elk or something similar but was pleased to see the pale form was a woman. Nice. Maybe he'd have some entertainment today. Altering his course, the slate and snow behemoth moved towards her. Already there was a grin on his maw. That grin faltered somewhat when he noted a second batch of movement. It seemed that he wasn't the only one following the pallid fae.

Throwing a bit more speed into his lope, Oxx came up beside the woman, showing no acknowledgment odd the ursine following. "Pardon me, miss, but you'd best prepare for a battle." His low baritones were filled with amusement. Only after he'd warned her did he turn to face the stalking bear. The grin never left.

Rœkia's pace started to slow as she realized just how quiet it was. Despite the cold weather of this particular spring the birds had still been singing, or at least squawking as they decided that maybe it was a bit to early to migrate back north. Now the air was perfectly silent. Pawsteps caught her attention and she turned to see a man approach, she stepped further to the side as he moved up beside her and instructed her to prepare to fight. She was about to shoot off a sassy remark but instead of attacking her the man whirled around to stare at something behind them. What the… she turned as well and her heart leapt into her throat. Shitballs, it was a polar bear!

The bear snarled and charged. It lashed out with its left paw and Rœkia ducked, just avoiding the claws before she kicked off with her hind legs and rocketed her smaller frame beneath the bear. It was risky but she swiftly turned her head and dug her fangs into the bear's inner thigh, seeking to rip into any veins or arteries she could find.

It seemed like the woman was about to tell him off and Oxx cracked a grin before he turned to look at the bear. The white beast bounded forward and swiped at the pair of canines. The woman ducked and Oxx merely stepped back. Bears were powerful, but they were slow in comparison. It was an easy feat to avoid the blow.

As the woman ran beneath the bear, Oxx ran around the back. With the beast distracted, the dire brute sank his teeth into the haunch of the bear. It would bleed today. Of that, Oxx was sure. With a mouth full of white fur and black flesh, Oxx shook his head back and forth. Soon the white pelt ran red and pink with blood. The bear growled and spun, whipping a clawed paw out again. The claws zipped through the speckled brutes fur as he stepped back, but did no damage. There was a smile on his face as he took a few steps away, ready for his next assault.

Rœkia's fangs connected with the inside of the bear's thigh. A roar of pain attested to the pain she was causing the creature and blood gushed into her mouth as she ripped flesh and severed an artery. At first the bear tried to stand and twist itself down to get at her but she shrunk in towards the leg and as the bear twisted and dragged her along her fangs only caused more damage until the bear bolted suddenly forward. The sudden forward surge jerked the bear's legs right out of her jaws. Rœkia quickly twisted around and made a beeline for the bear's hind end. Her fangs seized hold of its tail and she thrashed her head once again seeking to do as much damage as possible to encourage the bear that this was not a fight it wanted to see through to a final conclusion.
