thinking "speech" "others" It was purely by accident that he stumbled across the mouth of the ravine, almost literally. The stink of a pack bore a familiar hint that drew the phoenix like a moth to flame, now that he'd found his brother after all this time he was looking to find his place in the world. The auburn male had been sliced free of all the ties binding him to these lands, and he knew well enough that keeping it that way was a recipe for disaster. Sunrise found broad paws skirting the edges of the ravine in search of the best point of entry. While the musk of his family was familiar enough, he knew well enough that he'd been gone a long time. There would be a lot of explaining to do, no doubt. Amends to be made, surely. Regardless, he sought the boundaries of the empire the way a child sought the love of an absent parent. By the time he located the best spot by which to close in on the borders, the sun had fully crested the horizon. The shadows had retreated deeper into the trees, and the shapes of foliage had become more distinct. The godling tipped back his skull to loose a sonorous call, seeking the attention of whoever was in charge now. His parents weren't exactly high on the roster, nor particularly high in the king's favour during their brief time within the ranks. He wanted so badly to stick around this time, earn his keep and rise to a position that would potentially make him feel less hollow between the ribs. |
