Predator Fight

Silver dipped toes picked their way across the glittering sands of the bridge that connected Boreas and Auster. The sun was shining brightly over head and the brindled fae had her eyes squeezed mostly shut against its blinding light. She almost missed the gharial that was stretched across the sandy bridge, having come ashore to absorb some much needed heat. Dark ears flicked forward as Eska stopped. Golden eyes observed the massive reptilian with its oddly long face. She needed to get around it to get back to Auster. Swimming around it wasn't an option. If she splashed about, there was a chance that the reptile would go out into the water with her. She would be no match for it there. Her only other option was to harry it long enough to make it flee so that she could skirt past.
With a sigh to steel her nerves, the silver spattered fae rushed towards the hind end of the crocodilian. Her teeth bit into its tail before she retreated just as quickly. The beast spun, a hiss on its lips as it's long jaws snapped at her. This area of the bridge was narrow and Eska's paws touched water as she backpedaled. A frown pulled the corners of her mouth down. This could potentially be quiet dangerous.

Summer brought with it a slow change but it was enough for Rœkia to seek venturing north to see if the weather was starting to warm in Boreas with the change in seasons. She was working her way across the small land bride when she spied another woman up ahead as well as a creature she'd never seen before. It was like a lizard but with a long, narrow snout lined with fangs. She watched for a moment as the other woman snapped at its tail. The lizard creature clearly had no problem tangling with a wolf. "What the fuck is that?" She cautiously approached, glancing at the water now and then as she hoped there wasn't another one of those things. Her voice seemed to have caught the creatures attention and it turned to her. "Hey there ugly!" She yelled at it, trying to give the other woman another opening.

Lukina trotted along behind Rœkia with her head in the clouds. She enjoyed looking at the pretty sand and kept her eyes peeled for any cool rocks she could sneak into her makeshift satchel. Lukina stopped suddenly, just barely avoiding running into her cousin who was watching the woman and reptile ahead of them. Uh oh… Lukina glanced to Rœkia. How were they going to get across? Rœkia moved forward, growling at the lizard and Lukina swiftly pulled up next to her cousin, barking loudly at the reptile before bounding forward and swatting at it with her claws. Its jaws nearly snapped over her arm but Rœkia pulled her back just in time.

Twin forms came down the bridge towards her and Eska inwardly groaned. It would be more difficult to time her actions with others present, but it seemed as though she didn't have a choice. A pup ran in and scratched the reptile while an older fae called aloud to catch the gharial's attention. Eska took the opportunity to sink her teeth into the hard scutes of the beasts tail, pulling backwards with all of her might to try and slide the creature across the sand towards her, but it was just too damn big! Releasing the tail, Eska moved quickly around the side, missing the slapping tail and the snapping jaws as the creature curled its body inward to bite at her. This was turning out easier than she thought. If they kept this up, surely the thing would escape into the water soon.

Rœkia kept a sharp eye on the beasts movements. The other woman, who she just realized she recognized, grabbed the tail of the reptile and started to drag it backwards. The creature twisted back, arching around to try and bite the stranger and as it did Rœkia shot forward, kicking up sand as she bite hard on the side of the reptiles neck, just behind the corner of its drive. She thought she'd be prepared but she wasn't. The creature was incredibly strong and it twisted and rolled suddenly, pulling itself right out of her grasp. Rœkia sprang away, landing in the water as the creature's fangs just nicked her wrist. The saltwater burned but she pushed it from her mind.

Lukina skittered back as the golden-eyed woman attacked the tail of the lizard and pulled it back. Her cousin dove in but for once Lukina held back. She was learning how to fight mammals and she had a general idea of how to expect wolves, bears and cats to move. She had no idea about this creature and to be honest she was still a bit scared of it. When the it was distracted though she took a risk and darted in, nipping the leg hard enough to draw blood then rocketing away down the sandy bridge before whirling around, ears flicking forward as she watched intently. She hoped it would go away soon. Something about the lizard thing just creeped her out.

As the trio worked in tandem, the reptile was becoming overwhelmed and confused. Suddenly the tang of blood hit Eska's olfactory senses and her quick gaze picked out a bit of blood on the older fae and the gharial's leg. She frowned, but moved in for the final push. With its attention on the last attacker, Eska dove forward, sand spraying, and bit into the more tender skin of the hind thigh. Teeth sank through scales and her tongue tasted blood. The pup had done well to make the weak spot known. Another hiss erupted from the crocodilian before it began pulling itself into the salt water. Hurrying it into the water with strikes and nips, the trio completed their task.
Eska huffed lightly in amusement as she realized who the two girls were. The corner of her mouth pulled upward along with one dark brow. "We've got to stop meeting like this. Thank you again for the assistance."

Rœkia bounded out of the water and back onto the sand, wary of more of those creatures wandering about. She assumed they were lone travelers but it was hard to say if they had packs. She used to think cats were solitary until she saw a small pride of lions for the first time. Rœkia launched herself toward the creatures face in a faint, quickly grabbing its attention. It snapped at her but she managed to pull back in time to avoid being bitten. While she distracted the creature, the stranger bit hard into the beasts leg. The reptile hissed then slid suddenly into the water. Panting, Rœkia wandered toward the stranger and nodded. "Tell me about it, and likewise."

Lukina moved cautiously closer, watching the older wolves to see what they would do and how they planned to attack this creature. Its neck was so big and meeting she didn't think they could strangle it like prey and she saw no way to kill it effectively so they'd have to try and annoy it enough to get it out of the way. She waited as Rœkia drew the reptile's attention. Then Lukina darted forward, growling and making a target of herself to help draw the creature's attention. A moment later the other woman bit hard into its leg, sending it scrambling into the water. Whoo, they did it! She grinned, tail wagging lightly.
