Luns - Large Predator Fight

Dark paws made their way deftly down to the blackened beach. It was early in the morning, the sun barely rising past the horizon, but he was on the move. It'd been a while since he'd fought anything and he was itching to sink his teeth into something. He could have initiated a fight with Relm, but he wanted to kill something, not focus on holding himself back so he didn't try to kill the woman. That wasn't going to earn him any brownie points. The north had often held larger predators. The cave bear he and Zosime had fought was proof of that. Lots of animals were still trying to recover from the harsh winter they'd fought against. His chances of finding a hungry polar bear were pretty high. That was hope anyways. Luck was on his side as he saw the lumbering creature on the beach. It was thin and obviously desperate for a good meal as it chased a seal back into the water. Its prey had just barely escaped and it was pissed. Seeing the opportunity for a good show down, Rhaegath raced towards it, flinging black sand behind him as he charged. He crashed into the creature with his head lowered. The front of his horns rammed into its side and it let out a groan and then a roar as it swung its head to snap at him. Its paw also reached out to swipe, but Rhae danced to the left of it, barely avoiding the fangs and teeth as he moved circles around it. He had to advantage of being better fed and faster. At this point he was just looking to draw the fight out and enjoy the tearing of flesh as he played with it. Walk, "Talk" Think |
Rhaegath is not friendly! Most (if not all) of his posts will be rated M for the ridiculously foul mouth he has. Thread with him at your own risk (cause half the time even I don't know what he's gonna do.)

Results were mixed so far. Rœkia worked her way farther north, noting the snow still on the ground despite it being summer. If anything she supposed she could say the air felt warmer than it had been the last time she was in the north. Not enough for her to say that the freezing cold weather they'd experienced earlier had passed but it gave her hope. She worked her way along the dark sand of the beach, heading toward their temporary shelter and the dried fish they'd stored there for a snack. She was expecting to rest for the morning but when she spied a strange man fighting a polar bear she knew she wasn't going to get the rest she wanted.
Her first instinct was to avoid the situation entirely, but she had hard earned food stored nearby and definitely did not want the bear sniffing it out. She crouched down low then burst forward as she spied an opening. As the bear whirled around to attack the horned man, Rœkia seized hold of the flesh behind its right knee. She bit down hard and tensed as the bear twisted around to try and get at her.

Lukina walked along the remnants of snow. She was excited for summer but in a way she'd be sad to see the snow go. Winter was the only season she'd ever known and she could scarcely imagine what the world would be like without it. There was also a sense of safety. Being pure white herself she felt more safe hiding among the winter landscape where she could practically melt away. Lukina slowed as she spied the fight up ahead. She looked to Rœkia in time to see her cousin charge for the bear. Lukina quickly followed after though she held back a bit. When the bear twisted around for Rœkia she sprang forward, her claws tearing down the side of the bear's exposed face. It whirled back on her and turned and fled, scrambling up the nearest tree.

One minute he was alone, having the time of his life, and the next there were two wolves helping him. He briefly recognized the gray woman, but he didn't have time to reflect on it. She went for the back of its leg and Rhae moved away for a moment to rethink his plan. He hadn't expected help, but he'd gotten it anyways. Just as the bear was about to swing at the woman, a small wolf about Zo's age darted forward to scratch at its face before darting up a tree as it whirled on her next. It was probably the weirdest tactic he'd seen from a wolf, but he supposed it worked. It kept her from the bears reach and it looked positively furious now. The bear was distracted at the moment which worked well for him. He'd had time to move where he wanted without interruption. He was now positioned around its left hind end. Hobbling it would make this so much easier, but three against was already bad odds for it. He darted forward with his jaws agape and ripped into the back of its haunch digging deep into the muscle with his teeth before dancing away from its claws again as it turned to attack him. Rœkia held on tight. As the bear twisted around to get at her she was jerked forward with the bears movements. Her legs scrambled to keep up with it as it moved, trying to keep her hold as well as keep her hind end close to her so that the bear wouldn't get ahold of her. Something happened toward the front of the bear, its attention was pulled off of her and out of the corner of her eye she saw Lukina scramble up a nearby tree. Well, at least the girl was out of the way for now but she knew her cousin might not stay there. The horned man appeared toward the back of the bear, his jaws ripping into its haunch and she recognized him from their spar. Shame they couldn't have met under happier circumstances. She felt her grip loosening and as the bear thrashed she lost her grip but the damage the bear had done to its leg from the force of ripping the tender flesh from her jaws was significant. She could tell it was limping.

Lukina balanced in the tree for a moment, watching as the battle continued. With the bear's attention elsewhere she slowly climbed her way down. She lingered at the base of the tree and then decided she could serve best as a distraction. "Hey! Hey! Over here bear! You can't get me." She bounded forward like she was going to attack but the moment the bear's attention was on her she started to walk slowly backwards. She wanted to keep the bears attention but she also wanted to be able to escape danger in case things started getting bad. The bear was incredibly fast for its size.
