Mæva had been lingering around the Abaven border. She'd had yet to speak with the alphess but hoped to soon now that she had fully recovered from her illness. However, when she heard tell of a festival and tournament she opted to join and try her fighting skills against pack wolves. Maybe she'd get someone from Abaven. Maybe she'd get to fight Sparhawk. She glanced around a moment, wondering if he was here before turning her attention back to the match at hand. She entered the ring and set her defenses, scenting the air as a man entered the ring.

Stjarna's introverted nature kept them on the fringes of the Armada however they jumped at the opportunity to attend the festival. There were still a few injuries that had not healed but Star wasn't going to let that prevent them from participating. During the more social part of the festival Stjarna had taken to wandering and exploring the shrine and islands of Ashen. The shrine was a bit creepy but the archipelago was full of interesting islands. Star found themself wondering more and more about this pack that was a close ally of the Armada. Alas, those were ponderings for another time. It was time to fight. Star faced off against the loner and nodded, signaling they were ready to begin.

Mæva found the man's scent curious for it didn't seem to be particularly masculine or feminine though she'd taken several assumptions based on his appearance. Ah, well, she could think on it more later or maybe see if she could talk to him after their fight was over if it didn't go to badly. Once her opponent was ready Mæva leapt into action. She attacked head on before side stepping to her left. Her fangs lanced forward, head twisting in as she attempted to bite her opponents throat along the upper left side. Ok, it was a bit aggressive but she was so excited and eager it didn't occur to her to hold back a little.

The girl had guts, she attacked straight on, slipping to the side and aiming for the vulnerable neck. Star couldn't help but notice the area she chose to attack was close to the jugular. Did she not realize this was a spar and not a hunt? Either way, if she wanted to play rough. Stjarna stepped to their right and ducked down low. The girl's teeth grazed their neck, leaving a light laceration. In response Star twisted their head and attempted to grab the girls left leg in their jaws, hoping the girls momentum would carry her right into the attack before she could maneuver away from it.

Mæva growled in frustration as her attack failed to get hold but she celebrated that she'd drawn first blood. Her optimism started to wane for as she attempted to avoid his jaws she couldn't get to the side in time and his fangs snagged her left arm, right above the elbow. She was forced to slow down. Keeping her defenses as set as she could her head dove down, jaws seeking the exposed left side of her opponents face. She wanted to latch on in a painful hold that would hopefully force him to submit and win her this match.

Stjarna succeeded in grabbing hold of the girls arm. While the Aracari wolf didn't want to seriously injure the girl they still had a drive to win and didn't want to simply let her go either. She'd wanted to fight hard so that's what they'd do. Star sought to hold on tight but it was a precarious position. Star kept their defenses set as much as possible but they couldn't do much as the girls fangs found purchase on the left side of Star's face. Pain shot down their neck and they winced. This was a bad spot. If they wanted to pull away they'd need to do so carefully. Instead Star opted to bite down harder and see if they could prompt the girl to let go.
