She tried to channel her inner uncle Chimera. He was rough around the edges, with nowhere near the decorum of her immediate family, but she had seen the way he hunted. She saw his efficient movements and deadly talent, and she would try now to emulate that spirit. The young princess also felt like she needed to redeem her name after her performance in the tournament. She had to catch something, she had to prove her skill. Ike had never hunted pronghorn before, nor had she ever worked with the wolf she was paired up with. The young princess led the way into the prairie, and she hoped that the trip over she had gotten all of her tripping out. That was the last thing she needed in the middle of a hunt.

Ike stood at the top of a ridge, her joints bent as she did her best to use the cover of shrubbery and long yellow grass as dual toned eyes scouted a small herd of pronghorn. They were much too fast for some head on approach, but she looked towards her partner with a tilt of her head, curious if she had an idea.

Although Belladonna couldn't admit she was excited to be paired with a younger child, she couldn't really argue much. She was family after all, even if it wasn't immediate, and she was happy to at least be paired with family, even if it was a child. Although, she couldn't lie. She'd rather be paired with her brother for better chances at bringing something down, but perhaps Ike would surprise her. If only she had any hunting experience of her own to speak of.

As the pair arrived at the prairie, Bella also crouched in the grasses to spy on the pronghorn herd down below. It wouldn't be east bringing down a fast mammal like the pronghorn, but maybe if luck was on either of their side they'd at least manage to get something worthy of claiming. As the younger girl looked to Bella, she knew then the child was looking to her for advice. Shit. She didn't know what she was doing either, did she?

Bella couldn't think of something much better than the obvious on the spot. She scouted the herd a final time to look for something worth targeting that they had a chance against. After a moment she looked back to the younger girl. "I think that if I go wait in a spot at the head of the herd, and you chase that one down there towards me, then I think we should be able to bring it down together." She said as she motioned her paw in the direction of one that was a bit separated from the rest of the herd.

She wished that she had been able to convince Oki with her to hopefully get paired together for the hunting competition. Alas, she was the only one, but that was alright. No one to tell on her when they got home that she tripped and ruined everything or something. Ike looked to her partner in case she felt like she had a better plan. Ike wasn’t incredibly experienced but as she looked to the older girl she realized she was probably far more learned than she was. Not that the princess would ever mention as such.

Her idea seemed as good as any and Shuriken nodded in acceptance. She was younger but her legs were longer and she was taller. She was the better option to run the animals. Ike gave the girl enough time to get hidden before she let herself start to spook the animals. She tried to herd them with her body, but she realized quick how much slower she was in comparison to the beasts. Still, she ran as fast as she could towards her cousin. Her limbs acting on her will instead of against her for once.

The girl was silent but agreed to the plan and quickly set off to find herself a spot until she was ready. Bella was quick to get to her spot and hide amongst the foliage, nestling inside to camouflage her abstract pelt while her younger cousin set off after the herd. She wasn't as fast as the hoofed animals, but that was okay. She just needed to keep them moving, keep them focused on her and not on the threat looming ahead of them.

Bella let the herd pass for the most part, narrowing her dual-hued gaze on the pronghorn much like a cat readying to pounce. Much like that same cat, she sprung from the shrub as the animal began to move past it and closed her jaws around the tender flesh of it's neck. Unfortunately not a great shot, but definitely helped in weakening it and made even better when she struggled to hold on, tearing the flesh as her weight worked against the jostling of the struggling pronghorn. Although she had wounded the animal, it wouldn't be enough.

She tumbled to the ground, eyes searching for her cousin as she collected herself.

Her cousin was swift to get to her place as Shuriken was to chase the herd. She didn’t have to put much effort into making them move, but getting them in the direction she wanted them was the difficult part. Somehow the animals did exactly what she wanted them to, and the princess followed after them at a swift pace. Ike followed behind the herd, and didn’t miss when Balla leapt up and grabbed hold of the young animal. It was just enough to make it stumble but not quite bring it to the ground. Ike put on a burst of speed so she could help her struggling cousin.

Right as Belladonna let go Ike was there to tag off. Her talons sunk deep into its haunches and she gored its spine with her tiny antlers. Like the two of them had practiced a hunt like this a thousand times their prey succumbed to its injuries.
