Over Protection
Eska

Serenity had taken a patrol outside the lands with Ezra. They were making sure that the dires and saber cats were truly all gone after all the trouble they had caused for the pack. Some fatal. She guessed she was thankful she wasn't here for all of it. Though it wasn't easy for her to become attached to others so maybe she wouldn't have been in complete ruin. Just sorry for the ones that surrounded her.
This time she paired up with Eska, and though they were out making sure the predators that were more dangerous over the last few seasons were no longer a nuisance, it was important to make sure that there were no predators at all, at least any of the ones that were out here looking for a fight.
She didn't know Eska much, just that her and Ulric had announced to her and her other siblings that they were now mates. She didn't mind getting to know her new family a little more, she was just worried about getting too attached and something bad happening to them. She walked side by side with Eska, keeping mostly silent unless she decided to talk.

The two large women moved along together in relative silence. Eska didn't mind silence at all and it seemed that Serenity didn't mind it either. The pair were taking their patrol leisurely; neither in a hurry. The brindled woman had never felt a need to impress anyone, nor did she feel a need to be something that she wasn't. She had spoken her piece at the meeting, telling the children of Ulric that she would be there when they needed and that hadn't been a lie. She would be what they needed, but she would continue to be her usual stoic, no-nonsense self as she did it. As the ladies moved together out of territory, a scent caught Eska's nose. The muddled scent of predator and blood. Dark ears pricked forward as the silver and obsidian woman went on alert. Behind them, Eska's dogs scented it too. A low growl pulled from Baz and Avaset followed. The dogs took the lead, loping through the foliage. Moments later, the growls and snarls of a fight met Eska's ears and she threw her weight into her paws. Pushing through the greenery behind the dogs, Eska took a moment to absorb the scene. A massive lion, its mane patchy and dark, had killed a wolf. It wasn't a wolf that belonged to the Hallows, thankfully, but it was a wolf nonetheless. A predator with the taste for wolf blood couldn't be allowed to live. Though she was still healing, Eska would not hold back from this fight. With Baz and Avaset keeping the lions attention, Eska rushed in, jaws snapping down on the hip of the tawny beast. She thrashed her head back and forth, leaving big tears in the cats hide. It roared and spin, one paw coming out to swipe at her, but Eska was already stepping back. She could feel the pain in the muscles of her neck, but she would push past it. "Eska"

Serenity was quick on her paws as Eska and the dogs moved forward. The sight of the nearly dismantled wolf was hard to fathom, but Serenity didn't ponder too long at the vision. Eska moved forward quickly along with the dogs at her aide, there was barely a minute to think but Serenity was used to thinking on her feet at least.
She didn't know about Eska's injuries, or what happened to her. So she wasn't paying attention to her physical well being during the predator battle.
When the beast swung around to swipe at Eska, Serenity leapt forward herself as she grabbed hold of the same, mangled hip that Eska had grabbed. It at least got it's attention off of Eska for a moment as it growled in pain. It turned away from Serenity's companion, going in circles it seemed and attempting to swipe again this time at Serenity. She was too quick for it, she was expecting. Couldn't it try something else or was it too dumb?

Back and forth the pair of women went, biting and harrying the cat. Blood poured from the wounds on its hips but there was still a lot of fight in it. Baz dove forward, latching his teeth into the feline's face while Avaset locked her jaws around one front paw. Eska took the opportunity to attack the front end as well. With the dogs keeping most of the lion's attention, Eska slammed down onto the cat. Her teeth bit into the side of its neck and she began thrashing her head back and forth, fangs ripping holes in the tawny pelt. The lion screamed and scrambled, kicking off of the ground with its hind paws and dislodging Eska. She fell backwards into the ground, the muscles in her neck screaming. "Eska"

Eska and her two dogs went eagerly, all for the lion's front end. It must have been overwhelmed, but it was big enough to throw a massive tantrum and not forfeit just yet. Eska started mauling the lion's neck, it's hide slowly getting ripped to shreds and torn, but she wasn't able to keep it up with her current injuries. Serenity was already there when Eska was forced to let go, and she leaped up as the wolf and the lion disconnected, going again straight for the injury that the lion suffered in Eska's jaws. She was taking it down in it's weak points, courtesy of Eska of course. The lion fell back to it's paws while it hollered in pain, and Serenity was sure she would be able to finish the job, at least with Eska and her dogs.

With Serenity keeping the cats attention, Eska motioned for the dogs to attack as well. Avaset attacked from one side and Baz attacked from the other. Eska used that opportunity to leap upon the lion's back as it's claws and teeth were occupied. The woman was able to sink her teeth into the side of the lion's throat where she proceeded to shake her head, ripping and tearing. Blood filled her mouth and the cat began to squeal and thrash as it tried to get away. Eska was thrown free, rolling to a halt. There was pain in her neck from the muscles that weren't fully healed, but she got back up anyway. Avaset and Baz never let loose, even as the lion stumbled away as though it would escape. It wasn't going anywhere fast, however, and by the time Eska caught up with them, Serenity and the dogs had ended its life. "Eska"
