He was on his way back north from the willow patch he'd gotten lost in. Surely, he couldn't get more lost on his way back home, right? That proved more difficult as he thought he had taken the right turn. The wind whipped around him while a winter chill shook nearby trees now barren of leaves. Along the horizon, the sun was beginning to set and he figured it would be a good time to find somewhere to sleep for the night that wasn't out in the open. Frustrated, Gilgamesh was not used to this feeling of uncertainty.

Following an empty riverbed with a slow trickle of ice water, looming caves and passage openings began to loom ahead. How had he gotten himself into the gorge? Flattening his ears for a moment, he paused and looked around. Large formations of rocks hung above and below as the cave system opened up. Being down here, there was no wind, but plenty of eerie shadows. The trickle of water and a far-off sound of something knocking against a wall made his hackles rise up. Steeling his nerves, Gil chose the closest cave opening to peer into.

In the low light, his yellow eyes caught a small gleam of something shiny. Long forgotten, bits and pieces of old relics littered the room. Interested, Gil stepped inside, nosing at the articles, he picked up a piece of broken pottery. What in the world had he found?

Who knew what Ada was even doing in here? Who knew why she did anything? The bobtailed woman was the epitome of a free spirit. If her paws were pointed in one direction, that's the direction that she was going in. If something sounded neat or looked interesting, that's where she was going. Ada belonged nowhere and everywhere all at once. There was never a destination in mind nor a plan in motion, so the fae always, always, always ended up getting herself into trouble due to not being prepared.

Today was no different. While strolling along through the snowy landscape, Ada just happened to see the tail end of a wolf as it disappeared into the mouth of a cave. Excitement lit up the tiny fae's pumpkin gaze and she immediately adjusted her course to prance into the cave. Immediately after entering, she slammed into the rear end of the brute, slid off of the pathway leading into the wide open space, and hung there over the edge of a precipice, one hind paw kicking while the other rested precariously on a rock jutting out of the wall. Panic flared in the young fae and her eyes went wide. Both front paws were still on the pathway, her small claws digging into the surface.

What was below her, Ada didn't know. What she did know was that she had zero desire to find out. With her hind paw scrabbling at the stony wall for purchase, her gaze, now adjusted to the difference in light, pleaded with the brute along with her accented tones. "A little help if ye could!" She didn't know how she was going to get back up otherwise.

The pattering sound of paws racing up behind him made it to his ears. As he turned his head to look over his shoulder, there was no chance of reacting. A smaller, bright-eyed wolf was slamming into his haunches. Releasing the piece of pottery that he had been holding, it clattered to the ground as she tumbled past him over an edge. Frozen in confusion, he listened to her scrabble against the rock below her. All he could see were two small paws, claws outstretched, holding on for dear life.

Her accented voice reached up to him. Smirking, Gil chuckled loudly. "Bit of a predicament?" He rumbled in his deep baritone as he carefully stepped toward the edge and her paws. Lifting one, he placed it over her paws, pressing firmly down on them. Looking over at her as she threatened to fall, he tilted his face, a smile curling a bit farther up his lips. The thought of pushing her off and sending her down into the depths of whatever lay below was tempting. Yet, she hadn't done anything particular to wrong him...

Senseless murders weren't his thing. Grunting, he moved his paw so that each one was on either side of hers. Lowering his body cautiously, he reached out over the edge to grab ahold of the scruff of her neck. Thankfully the lass was small and not rather heavy. Pulling her up the precarious edge, Gil moved to the side to give her room to get back up. Once she was safely back on flat ground, he shot her a glare.

The man took his time walking over to her and Ada just thought that he was a slow walker. He placed his paws on hers and smile down at her and Ada, being who she was, smiled back, her pristine whites sparkling even in the darkness of the space. It never crossed her mind that the brute's thoughts and intentions might be nefarious. He placed his paws over hers and applied some pressure. She assumed this was to make sure that he didn't fall.

Reaching down, the much larger wolf locked his jaws around her scruff, but not hard enough to draw blood. Ada winced anyway as the teeth pinched her flesh. It was over quickly as the big man pulled her back onto land. The small dame rolled onto her side on the pathway, releasing a little "Wooooo," of relief. She didn't catch his glare, but even if she did, it wouldn't have meant much to her. Being the little airhead that she was, Ada didn't pick up on many social cues and just believed that everyone meant to be friendly, but didn't know how to do so.

Rolling to her white toed paws, the lady gave a little shade, ridding her body of any clinging dust or debris. Her fluffy tail flicked back and forth before standing erect much like a deer flag or a rabbits tail. Looking up the the brute, the fae beamed at him in her good natured way. "It's a good theng yer strong, boy. Ye surely saved my life! Strongest wolf alive, I'd wager." The monochromatic lady gave a nod of thanks to the mottled wolf before looking around the space that they were in. "Wot do ye think this place is?"

His expression was far from amused, but clearly, the little fae didn't notice or ignored it. Taking another step aside so that the debris that flung from her coat didn't hit him, his glare flatlined into a deadpan and boring look. Tilting his chin down to look at her as she pranced over like a deer frolicking in a field, Gil sighed. Obviously, she was very theatrical in her ways, but he'd get over it eventually. He wouldn't have called it saving her life, but he enjoyed the compliment. Of course he was strong, he wouldn't be able to survive out in the wilds of the north if he was weak. Refraining from laughing, he finally looked away from the young gal.

Looking around the vast cavern, his ears fell back at her question. "Is that a real question?" He asked bluntly, side-eyeing her with his yellowed gaze. Did she really not understand what this place was? Or was she blind? She didn't appear blind, but then again she had been the one catapulting herself off a cliff. Sighing once more, he gave a small shake of his muzzle. "Caverns in a gorge," Gil resounded, slightly agitated, knowing that she was probably going to ask more questions.

Itching to get back to his search, he was hoping the piece of pottery he'd found would lead to more artifacts he could string together for armor. Huffing a breath in her direction, he turned to see if there was a way down the cliff. "Come," he chided, walking farther into the darkness where he saw a small ledge that may lead down to the bottom. From what little he could see, he thought there might be more to find farther in. If she wanted company, or rather protection, Gil figured she'd probably follow or just leave the safe way out.
