Bent But Still Standing

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn breathed a sigh of relief as she entered the base of the canyon. For one thing she was out of the forest and for another the sun was starting to break free of the clouds. Pale beams of sun filtered in through the top of the canyon bouncing across taupe gray, rocky walls. A turquoise river winded its way through the bottom of the canyon. She watched the water move swiftly along for a moment before stopping to get herself a quick drink. Jynn sat down heavily on the river bank. She'd taken a wrong turn and ended up in that spooky forest. To make matters worse she then got lost. It was a relief to see the walls of the canyon again.

Mahogany paws led the small fae through the canyon's channel. After being cooped up and having her attention pulled every which way, Bowen had just needed some time to herself. Time out to breathe and let her paws do what they wanted to do. She found herself exploring a long stretch of canyon, stone walls rising up up up above her. What lovely walls they were, too. The girl really appreciated the swaths of different colored rocks. They made the canyon look as though it had been painted rather than carved out of the earth.
As Bo walked, she heard paws on stone and brought her emerald eyes up to see non other than her friend Jynn. The young fae's face lit up in a smile as she approached the leggy wolf. "Still out adventuring, I see. Do you mind if we adventure together for a while?"

Jynn padded to the river side to take a deep drink of the water before heading on her way. There was a path she could take up to the rim, or so she'd heard, she just had to find it. Jynn hadn't gone far when she heard a familiar voice call out. She turned to see Bowen and a large grin spread across her face as her tail started to wag. "Bowen! It's good to see you. You bet, I'd love the company. There's supposed to be a waterfall around here but I got a bit turned around." She grinned sheepishly, a bit embarrassed at her slip up but hopefully Bowen wouldn't hold that against her. "There should be a trail to the top of the canyon around here somewhere."
She wandered along the edge of the canyon wall before noticing a path leading up. "Ahh, here we go!"

Jynn seemed just as happy to see Bowen as she was to see Jynn and both of the ladies tails were wagging as they joined forces. Jynn spoke of a path and Bo glanced around the space. Before she could discover the pathway, her friend found it first. Bowen followed as they began to move towards the path that would lead them up to the rim. "I've been moving through the center this whole while. I didn't think to go up to the top." As they climbed the upgrade, getting higher with each step, Bowen looked back down the winding canyon where she'd been walking. It hadn't seemed that far, but as they went upwards, she realized just how far she'd come.

Jynn started up the trail with a bounce in her step. She was eager to see what the river looked like from higher up, especially now that the sun was shining in full force. As they neared the top, Jynn slipped along a ridge and peered back down. "Whoa! This is an interesting view." She dropped to her belly to ease some of her vertigo as she peered over the edge down at the river. "This is a good work out that's for sure, whew!" Panting she got back to her feet and continued on her way to the canyon rim. After the reached the falls she might have to take a nap but she was determined to get to the top before noon.

Together they moved up the winding trail to the top. Jynn stopped to look over the side at the river below that was gradually getting smaller and smaller. Bo smiled and leaned over the edge to look down as well. Having been on a ship for over a year of her life, the girl had little problem with vertigo. It was amusing to Bo that Jynn seemed to be wiped out by the exertion. Maybe she was finally getting her land legs back? Building some stamina? Either way, by the time they made it to the falls, she would no doubt be ready for a rest as well.
