The beach that Sirius had shown in that first day on the tour had become a favorite haunt for Dream. The blonde wolf was just as at home with the sand beneath his paws as he was witht he firm soil and grass from the plains, and he would often spend his free time racing the banks with Hanako or fishing in the shallow waters when he wasn't training with the sparring dummies. He and Mortis had even run a crocodile off the beach together, and the green eyed male had to admit that the winged heir hadn't seemed half bad. They had brainstormed together easily and carried out an attack together on the scaled beast, and for the first time ever he hadn't been fighting alone.
He was back at the beach that day to do some more training, though he wasn't entirely sure what it was he wanted to work on. A part of him was considering doing a bit of diving, and old trick he'd picked up that helped loads with developing lung power for extra stamina, but he was also tempted to see if anyone was around to spar. Decisions, decisions.

The Warlord made his way down to the beach. His enormous paws almost soundless against the familiar, gritty sand. His eyes drifted out across the ocean to the rising sun, and he considered what he needed to get done that day.
Nearing the barracks, his eyes alighted upon Dream, and he knew exactly what his plans should be for the day. It was time to see how Dream was settling in, and begin assessing him to ensure he was settled at the right place on the pack roster - or to push him to go a little further, if he was up for it.
“Dream,” he called out, urging the boy to come towards him. “Settling in well? Up for a fighting assessment?”

"Dream."
The sound of his own name was quick to catch his attention, and he turned to spot none other than Sirius himself padding down the beach toward him. An easy grin settled onto the blondes lips and he offered a nod of greeting to the older male, ears pricking foreward a little when they mention a fighting assessment. "Sure." he replied, sounding unbothered despite the blooming anxiety in his chest. He'd never had to fight with the sole purpose of being judged, and on the few rare occasions where he'd fought with someone of the alphas size it had been for real, meaning his strategy was to cripple, hobble, or incapacitate as quickly as possible before getting the hell out of there- but he couldn't blind the eyes or tear the tendons of his new leader. And the idea of being found wanting simply because he was outclassed by his opponent and limited to a more 'humane' setting would definitely make things difficult, but like always, Dream was up for the challenge.
"What did you want me to do? And are there any rules? I don't want taccidentally cheat or anything." he added quickly. Would Sirius spar him? Have him attack dummies? Hunt dangerous game? And was there anything specific he wouldn't be allowed to do? How far could a spar go? Was he expected to use weapons?

Sirius began to lead the other wolf to one of the larger rings. Stopping at its tapered edge and turning back to the pale wolf. “We are going to have a little spar. It’s not about winning, it’s about seeing your technique and style and how you do in a one-on-one” Sirius explained, hopping into the ring himself and moving into a corner.
He waited until Dream had entered himself before continuing. “Make the first move when you're ready” He commanded. Setting his own defences and standing lightly on his paws. Giving nothing of his own tactics away before the fight had begun.

Was he nervous? A little. But only because his 'technique' was usually to cripple or disarm his foe as soon as possible, thing he simply couldn't do to his Alpha. Seldom had his spars with other wolves been friendly, more often than not rough, violent scuffles that ended in one canine forcing the other into submission through sheer force. And the kind of force it would take to submit Sirius would require serious injuries, meaning that Dream was going to have to adapt his fighting style. He couldn't puncture muscle or tear at tendons, could blind the eyes or bust open their nose to choke them on their own blood. Living alone, he realized, had not prepared him for this part of pack-living, and it was a skill he was going to have to learn from the ground up.
"Can't say Ive been in many spars where I wasn't fighting to win. I'm not sure I know how to fight with a wolf as big as you without going all out. It'll take some getting used to." he admitted with a sheepish grin, deciding to just be honest. Of course he would do his best to not take it too far- that's not what the issue was- he was just trying to let them know that his 'technique' might not be all that great since he had to hold back.
Still, as the alpha took his place in one corner, Dream did the same on his own side of the ring, sizing the other up with intelligent light green eyes. Sirius really outclassed him in most areas, having the added benefit of living in a pack which meant there were other wolves around to constantly hone his skills on. He kept telling himself it wasn't about winning, but he wanted to impress this other male, ensure him he hadn't made a mistake. Just do what you normally would, only don't make it serious' he told himself as he stepped foreward.
He didn't give anything away when he suddenly sprung foreward, looking as if he were about to charge Sirius head on, but at the last moment he swerved and sent up a spray of dirt toward the other wolf, trusting the other would have the good sense to close his eyes or duck away from it. Either way, Dream didn't hesitate in trying to use the distraction to his advantage and suddenly bolted full force at the Alphas hind legs, looking to sweep them out from under him completely.
He knew he wasn't large enough to beat Siruius with brute strength alone, but he could at least show him how -in theory- he would have fought him if this were a real fight; use the terrain, aim for the weak spots, keep moving. The only difference was that in a real fight the duststorm would have seen his fangs lodged in the larger canines face so that his own blood could blind him, and that there was no snapping at the achilles heel as he tried to drag their hindlegs out from under them.

“Don’t hold back” he advised the other wolf, who expressed his concern on fighting a ‘friendly’ “I have blood to spare” he offered a lazy smile at that. Beneath his thick coat were plenty of scars from enemies and friendlies alike.
After a moment the other wolf rushed him. The Warlord didn’t bother to move. He was a heavy-set wolf, and close-contact fights generally worked in his favour. As Dream swerved to the side, he lifted his head to avoid the spray of sand that rose around them. Fighting on a sandy arena these last three years had cautioned him against the dangers of kicked sand.
The moment of distraction - lifting his head - was the opening that Dream took. Diving towards his hind legs. The Warlord pivoted on the spot, attempting to dig his own fangs into the wolfs departing side as he pushed the Warlords heavy hind leg backwards.
