Come down, come down sweet reverence
With autumn in full swing Jynn moved north to get a last good look of the lands before winter made travel here particularly perilous. She found herself in a particularly odd place. A ring of deep and jagged stones shooting up to form a mountainous ring. Deep blue waters lay around it while within it the water bore a slightly warmer hue. So far the weather was cooperating. Above her stretched a dull blue sky, with a few streaks of white clouds here and there. Despite being autumn there was already snow resting on the tops of the mountains here. A few hardy pines managed to grow on the outer rings of the strange island.

Dagrún was growing in daring and decided that she wanted to visit the northern region of Boreas before winter moved in. She felt pretty confident that she would be alright. She wound her way northward and ended up at an unusual almost-island. There was a small walk way of earth that enabled her to walk over to a ring of mountains. The earth was rich and dark and something about the mountains shape unnerved her a little. She'd never really seen mountains arranged like that. Or maybe it was just one big mountain missing its middle. Her attention was drawn from the mountain to the large fox-like wolf that was moving along the path a short ways away.

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn continued to work her way along the path, working higher and higher until she could peer farther down into the basin in the middle of the large mountain range. She watched mist, or was it steam, roll along the water's surface. There seemed to be more trees growing in the sheltered area around the lake but she quickly decided she didn't want to climb all the way down there. It had taken a great deal of energy just to get where she was at. Still, she could get a little bit closer. Jynn strolled along the path, looking for a good place to start her descent when she spied a yearling up on the rocky terrain with her. The wind was in her favor and she caught the pack scent of Fireside. "Oh, hello there."

Dagrún vaguely recognized the lanky woman though she was having a hard time pinning a name to the face. Still, the woman seemed friendly enough, she turned and greeted Dag with a smile. "Hey there, name's Dagrún. You wouldn't happen to be from the north would you?" A native might be able to give her some inside tips on the best territories to explore. She knew she wouldn't get to see all of the north so having a list of highlights would be great. If not though she'd still manage. Already she was seeing some really interesting sights. She peered along the rocky path, opting to scoot a little bit higher.

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn smiled kindly at the girl and shook her head. "No, I'm afraid I'm from Auster originally." Or close enough to it anyway. "I am planning to explore this area though. I'd like to head from this sea over to the sea on the western side of the north. You'd be welcome to join me. My name's Jynn! Just your friendly neighborhood explorer." It really never entered her mind that randomly asking a yearling to travel with her could be taken the wrong way. Jynn was young at heart and really just wanted someone to talk to while she travelled. She started working her way down to where Dagrún was. "If we head directly west of here we should run into the Polar Sound."

Alas, the woman was not a native but she was an explorer and offered to let Dag tag along with her. The Fireside yearling was quick to jump on the idea. It sounded like Jynn had a general plan and Dag was eager to see a wide range of territories. Surely they'd get a good sampling of the terrain of the north by walking from one end to the other. "Yea, that sounds good." She didn't know what a 'sound' was but she figured it would make sense when they got there. Jynn continued down the mountainside and Dagrun quickly followed after. Her claws remained sheathed so that they didn't become dull but she was still able to work her way nimbly down the mountain side.
