Dream A Little Dream Of Me

Come down, come down sweet reverence
The forest eventually gave way to mountains that stretched high up into the sky. The land here was rocky and the tops of the mountains covered in snow. The brown rock beneath Jynn's feet was jagged and difficult to navigate. Not to mention it seemed like the mountains stretched on as far as the eyes could see. She eyed the sky cautiously. The blue of the sky was quickly being swallowed by a swirling mass of clouds of various shades of gray. That did not bode well, she didn't want to be trapped at the top of a mountain when a snowstorm moved in, especially not in their current location where there was very little cover. "Let's pick up the pace and see if we can find some shelter."

Dagrún's energy started high but by the time the reached the top of the mountain range she was exhausted. She wasn't even really interested in trying to talk to the older femme even though she wanted to hear more stories about the older wolf's travels. Right now all she could think about was her aching feet. The higher they went the colder it got and it seemed like the wind was blowing harder the higher they climbed. Dag's ears flicked back as she tried to prevent them from freezing. When Jynn mentioned shelter she nodded eagerly. "Yea, I'm tired and I'm getting cold too." She was more than ready for a break.

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn scouted ahead, working her way through the rocky terrain in search of some area that could be used as a shelter against the storm. Farther down the path they were on she saw the opening to a cavern. "Dagrún over here, I found a cave." She peeked in side, sniffing the air for any sign of a bear or other resident dwelling inside the cavern. When she was sure there was nothing dangerous inside she entered the cave and started to explore. To her surprise it seemed like the cavern was connected to tunnels that went deep into the mountains. The tunnels branched off every which way but Jynn returned back toward the opening. It wouldn't do to get lost.

Dagrún followed along after Jynn hoping there wouldn't be too much farther to go. Thankfully it was only a half hour later that Jynn found the entrance to a cave. Dagrún swiftly entered the cave, eager to get out of the wind. She found a nice spot to settle down and rest but she still watched as Jynn ventured farther back into the caverns. When Jynn returned Dag gazed at her curiously. "Well, see anything of interest back there?" She was content to let Jynn do the primary exploring for awhile so she could get her rest. She doubted the older femme would mind.

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn sniffed about the main cavern, testing a few rocks before finding a low ledge that fit her comfortably. Dagrún spoke and Jynn nodded in answer to the girls question. "Yea, it looks like this cave leads to a large network of tunnels. It's possible some of them go all the way through the mountainside but it branches a lot. It would be very easy to get lost down here." Jynn really did not want to die in some dark awful cave. Not that she hated caves, they had their place but she wasn't the sort to try and see just how far back something went.

Dagrún gazed further into the cavern, wondering just how many miles of tunnels went through the cave system. It unnerved her a little. She preferred shallow caves with a decent back so she didn't have to worry about anything sneaking up behind her. The wind suddenly picked up as the storm started to move in. Dag sighed. Well they'd have plenty of time to decide what to do while they were waiting for the weather to clear up but Dag's first instinct was to continue down the mountain side as they had been. At least in the open air they could use the position of the sun to navigate.
