Looks Good To Me

Scylla... was not one for rules. If someone told her that she couldn't do something, she was probably going to at least try to do it. Just like now. Mom had told the girl and her brother that they weren't allowed outside at night, but here she was, sneaking riiiight across the bed chamber and out the wooden doors, her long tail slithering across the floor with a gentle hiss. The small girl moved across the wooden deck and made her way, not so gracefully, down the double stair and onto the stone walkway that led to the atrium. Scylla didn't know it was called that. In her mind, it was the big tree room. That's where she was going.
Sneakily, the tiny pup already knew to stick to the shadows, doing so until she came up close to the huge tree with its gnarled, snakelike roots. Scylla looked up and gasped softly, her mismatched eyes going wide. The tree was glowing! There was a luminescence to the tree that hadn't been there before. A few leaves fell from the canopy and those glowed as well. Once the leaves dropped lower, she realized that they weren't leaves at all, but blue and purple fireplies. Sitting, the pup continued to look up toward the wide reaching branches up above, her focus on the dancing bugs. "Wooooooooow..." she said in awe, unable to peel her gaze away from the glow.
Scylla should be seen as a very adult character who will indulge in acts that others may find graphic and uncomfortable. Steer clear if you don't like this sort of thing.

When he was in plain view Albion followed every rule to its literal T. Especially around their father the King. He was seen and not heard, quiet in his observations as he learned the world around him from the adults that raised him. Mostly from his mother and Dalila since they were there in the room most often. He knew who his father was, he knew not to cross him, and inwardly the boy was afraid of him. Which made him have a passionate desire to be just like him. Chimera made the rules, and Albion wanted to do that too.
The boy wasn’t allowed outside alone while their mother was asleep, but especially at night. When he felt his small sister move at his side the boy was instantly awake, glass white eyes watching her movements, but the rest of him remained still. Just in case mother woke and caught Scylla, he didn’t want to fall alongside her. When Siren didn’t stir, Albi quietly lifted himself to his big white paws and followed his mischievous sister. He couldn’t let her have all the fun without him.
The boy paced through the dark halls, well aware of the unsettling glow from the hall leading to the great hall. This was his favorite place on the island, but the weird glow was unlike the moonlit glow he was familiar with. Scylla was already at the trunk as Albion followed her out into the dappled moonlight. As usual the boy was silent, but apprehension and wonder were both clear on her features. He slowly made his way to the trunk, and as Scylla looked up to watch the luminescent moths he put one pale paw to the trunk of the tree. His pale coat reflecting the unnatural colors.
”What did you do, Scylla?” He asked in his best impression of their father as he stifled a giggle but not his smirk. He knew this wasn’t his sister’s doing, but it would figure father would blame one of them if he were here.

The shuffle of paws through the leaf litter pulled the girls attention and she grinned as her brother walked up. His voice was a clear recreation of their father's and she released a little, girlish giggle, one paw moving to cover her mouth to muffle the sound. She was always getting in trouble for one thing or another.
Turning her attention back to the tree, the girl splayed her strange toes, playing them on the bark. "Why do you think it's doing that?" She asked her brother, still staring up at the fluttering fireflies above. One of the specks of light drifted downwards until it was right in front of Scylla. The girl's eyes crossed and she almost fell backwards, but the light disappeared as soon as it touched her nose. The child gasped, turning her head to look wide-eyed at Albion. "Did you see that? They aren't fireflies at all! What are they?!" She was getting a little loud. She needed to know!

The tiny moonlight colored boy received a grin from his tiny ivory marked sister as he approached from behind. He flashed his own menacing looking serrated teeth. Just like their father’s. She giggled at his impression, it was funny because it was true. Where Albion hated to be scolded it seemed like that was all Scylla ever received.
The boy’s humor was not why they were out here though, the odd nature of the tree and their glowing surroundings were. He was glad Scy had covered her mouth when she giggled too loud, the last thing he wanted was to actually get blamed for this phenomenon. ”I don’t know. You’re the one around mom’s plants more than me. Why do you think its glowing?” The boy inherited a respect for plants and herbs but he wasn’t such a big fan of working with them. He couldn’t focus with the pungent scents.
Albi could focus on what looked like glowing bugs fluttering in the dappled light of the moon. Scylla gasped and the boy’s white blue eyes shot towards her as one of the ‘bugs’ disappeared into her short fur. Alarmed, the white pup’s eyes widened in surprise. He was just now learning the world but bugs didn’t disappear like that! ”Maybe we can see stuff, like mom and dad.” Was the only explanation that truly made sense.

Albion's words brought a sneer from Scylla and she stuck her tongue out at her brother. "I don't know. If I knew I wouldn't have asked you, dummy." Scylla liked her brother well enough, but he was pretty stupid sometimes. Turning her attention back to the tree, the long tailed child watched as the lights shrank away from her and retreated back up into the sprawling branches of the canopy. With a sigh and a frown, the girl turned to look at her larger sibling. "You scared them away." He probably didn't, but it was nice to give him a hard time anyway. The tiny girl pushed past her brother and stalked back towards the room where their mother slept. At the last minute, she veered away, slinking around the corner of the building to make her way towards the gardens. Scylla wondered if there would be more glowing things there.

The pale child shrugged and rolled his eyes at Scylla’s comment. He could argue his intelligence but she would neither listen nor think any better of him. Why she would think he knew anymore than she did would forever be a mystery. His pale blue eyes followed the trunk line up into its branches as the blinking blue lights rose higher and higher, quick enough hidden by the foliage. Scylla stated that he had been the one to scare them away. Maybe he was. They weren’t afraid of a little girl like his sister, but one look at his bulky frame and they were quick to avoid danger.
As if the game was done Scylla dramatically turned around and began to stalk back to the room. Albion looked back up to the softly glowing tree, still uncertain what he was witnessing tonight. He turned back towards his sister just in time to catch her veering off the path.
