starry night

Magnus still didn’t believe that he once lived here, rose amongst the ranks, and whatever else Sirius had told him about his apparent forgotten memories. He felt like there was still a lot he didn’t know, things Sirius avoided when telling him of his past. Nothing about the Armada or the lands within it felt familiar to him, so he was having a difficult time believing it. Sirius was adamant though, he just wished he could get something different out of someone else in this pack.
Loneliness was something that he had always been used to, but never had he felt so hollow. A large portion of his memories were gone apparently, no one would talk to him for more than just a few minutes, and those that wouldn’t talk to him hardly even glanced his way. If he was a part of this pack before, wouldn’t others have more to say to him?
Magnus walked down the beachline, the tide high for the long, dark night but left just enough room to walk comfortably without dipping his remaining toes in the chilly, winterizing ocean water. His mind was focused on his thoughts, his eyes not even seeing what was before him as he traversed.
Unfortunately, walking was tiring and especially so on sand. He was quick to flop down, sand forcing itself out from beneath his heavy weight. Rolling onto his back, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath while he relaxed. He held his breath for just a moment, only to exhale when he opened his eyes. He had to blink once, twice, three times before his eyes would focus and see that above him were not stars. Stars don’t move. Stars don’t fall and land on your nose.
These were definitely not stars.
Magnus jumped up as best he could, scrambling to get his one rear leg underneath him and stand. The sand was his disadvantage however, shifting and causing his weight to falter on a single pillar. He snapped wildly at the swarm of strange, blue-flickering bugs that surrounded his head, kicking up sand as he struggled and flailed to get away.
