Manea ♡

In preparation for claiming the island as the home for their family and their pack, Alastor and Manea had been sniffing through every square inch of the island, learning its layout, the cave system, and clearing it out of any unwelcome guests. That included any pests and predators that could pose a risk to their small pups. Alastor wandered along the edge of one of the cliffs halfway up Alias' mountain, poking through the caves to find one suitable for his family and make sure they were vacant. Thus far the day had been uneventful. He'd spooked a few goats, taken a break to enjoy the sights, and run through so many caves he felt like he was back in the Mirovis pack. He silently cursed Lurid, wherever that whore of a queen might be.
Wandering around the edge of a large cliff ledge, Alastor spotted another sizable cave round the bend of the mountain path. The dire wolf poked his head into the shaded cave, sniffing about and catching a musky scent of unwashed fur and fat he recognized from his time up north. "Oh no no no, this simply won't do!" he said with a chuckle and a toothy grin. "Knock knock! I know it's winter, but it's time to get your sleepy head out of bed!" There was a moment of quiet, followed by a heavy shuffling and grunting, then a distinctly ursine roar. Alastor, the madman that he was, simply stepped back from the cave entrance wearing the biggest smile, eagerly awaiting his friend to come out and join him.
A few thunderous footfalls brought a hulking grizzly bear out into the daylight. The bear squinted against the bright sun, shielding its beady eyes while it gave a confused groan, trying to figure out what had woken it up. That was when it spotted the black and red-marked wolf, grinning up at him with all the confidence in the world. "Good morning, good sir! It's past time for you to check out. Thank you for staying on Alias Island!" The bear stared at the wolf for a moment, then eared up and bellowed in anger. Alastor gave a hum and shrugged his shoulders. "Have it your way then!" With a snarl of his own, Alastor lunged for the bear, narrowly avoiding its sharp claws coming down for him while he rushed between the bear's hind legs, snapping his jaws shut on its thigh on his way past and thrashing his head with all his might.

Manea was hard at work on what would be their permanent family den on the island when Temno came flying in, reporting the fact that Alastor was poking around a grizzly bear and she sighed with a chuckle, giving a little shake of her head. "Of course he is," she muttered before she went running out of the den, following Temno's lead and the sound of a bear's angry roar to where her husband was picking a fight with the large carnivore. They weren't hard to find, spotting the large, shaggy beast as it reared up to challenge Alastor with another loud roar.
She reached them just as Alstor was making his charge, sweeping under the bear's hind legs and chomping on its thigh. The bear was none too pleased about that and went to twist reach for Alastor behind it. "Oh no you don't!" she called as she darted over to them, lunging forward to sink her teeth deep into the bear's cheek. It roared in pain from the two wolves biting into it, but she couldn't keep her hold very long without risking getting a swipe from those long claws. She ripped away a piece of flesh and then bounded out of the way, dodging a swipe from that large paw.

Mid-strike Alastor noticed the vivid violet form of his wife appear from around the path, charging in to assist him with serving the bear its painful eviction notice. Alastor tugged and tugged on the bear's leg to keep it held in place and distracted while Manea bit at its cheek. The grizzly roared in pain and swung for Manea, who had avoided its blow with ease. Taking the opportunity the bear's distraction gave him, Alastor pulled back on the bear's leg with all his might. It was enough to pull the bear off balance, their foe collapsing to its belly on the rocky ledge. Alastor didn't hesitate, letting go of the bear's leg to leap up onto its back, his claws gripping into fat and fur while his jaws sought the back of the bear's neck.
Alastor bit down with a snarl, tasting blood from where his fangs sank into the bear's flesh. The grizzly bellowed in pain and reared up on its hind legs again, swinging its arms wildly to try and find a grip on the wolf hanging from its back. Alastor didn't relinquish his grip, dangling from the back of the bear's neck while he clawed at its back with all four paws. While not as effective as his wife's leonine claws, they still slashed and tore at the bear's skin, drawing blood with enough effort. His goal was to keep the bear as distracted as he could for Manea to go for its vulnerable and exposed underbelly.

Manea acted as the distraction her husband needed to get the bear knocked onto its stomach and she watched Alastor quickly climb onto the bear's back, biting in deep to the back of its neck and going to town absolutely clawing up the bear's back. She chuckled and waited for a good opening, letting the bear rear back as it tried in vein to reach Alastor that was still gripping onto it's neck and dangling like the mad man he was. Manea took her chance and darted in, both biting and hooking her large claws into his soft belly and ripping away a chunk of flesh with her jaws while also dragging her claws down the tender flesh and leaving long, deep lacerations in her wake. The bear immediately started loosing blood all across the rocky landscape and it let out another pained bellow. She very quickly darted away again as it started to fall, getting out of the way before she could get crushed by the tumbling grizzly. She wasn't sure whether or not Alastor had set out with the intention of killing the bear or not, but she felt like it was pretty inevitable when the two of them were involved.

As if the two wolves shared a single mind, Manea wasted no time using Alastor's distraction to her advantage. The dark-furred dire brute didn't actually see his wonderfully murderous wife charge the bear, but he did hear and smell the damage she was inflicting upon the unsuspecting ursine. The bear bellowed in panic and pain, and the heavy scent of coppery blood and viscera filled the air. Second by second the bear's flailing movements began to grow duller and slower as it succumbed to blood loss. Just before the bear toppled over, Alastor jerked his head back, veering the dumb creature away from the edge of the cliff so it ended up collapsing across the ground instead of taking a tumble. The bear lay prostrate across the ground, bleeding heavily from where Manea had virtually disemboweled the poor beast, suffering a slow and agonizing death.
Alastor let go of the bear's neck and stood atop the dying animal, feeling quite powerful and dominant standing atop this dying apex predator he and his mate had brought to its knees. Black eyes roamed over the bear's fur, admiring the intricate swirling hues of tawny and dark browns. It was such an attractive pelt and would make a fine feature to their bedroom. Deciding against causing damage to the pelt, Alastor climbed off of the bear and strode around to its front, seeing the light barely lingering in its beady eyes. Grinning like a psychopath, Alastor latched his jaws around the bear's snout, covering its nose with one large paw. The bear gave a few weak twitches and struggles, but the fight had long since left its muscles. Unable to fight back, the bear resigned itself to its fate, and Alastor smothered his foe until he had suffocated it to death.
The Mendacium brute didn't release his hold on the bear until he saw the light fade from its eyes, only letting go once he was sure it was dead. Standing back up, Alastor released a deep sigh and a whistle. "Now that was very entertaining!" he said with a laugh. Turning his smile and battle-livened gaze back to Manea, he gave his wife a wink and stepped up closer to nuzzle her cheek and kiss her lips. "Thanks for the assist, my love. Killing is always more fun when I'm with you! Now, what do you think of adding this pelt to our bed?" He looked back at the bear, already planning on how to go about skinning it to preserve the pelt. He and Manea would get some very good use out of it together. Perhaps they'd even conceive some more heirs to the Mendacium name on top of it. A fitting use for the pelt of an apex predator.

Manea gave a sigh of satisfaction as the bear toppled to the ground, knowing that it was impossible for the bear to come back from this and its death was all but assured. She gave herself a shake and turned to face her husband and grinned as she saw him standing atop the dying grizzly bear. She always loved seeing Alastor in his element whether that was in a fight, a hunt, or something like this where he proved himself to be one of the most deadly creatures on this island. She chuckled as she watched him hop down from their victim and proceed to smother the poor thing to death, the slight twitches it managed eventually ending as its life was snuffed out. Manea walked over to her mate as he released the bear's snout and grinned at his assessment of their job well done. She returned his nuzzle and kiss with one of her own. "Of course! You know I wouldn't miss out on the fun," she teased to his thanks and added, "I think that's a wonderful idea. I do love having the bedchamber be as plush as possible." It was almost ludicrous how many pelts they had accumulated in their time together with all the prey they had hunted and predators they had killed, but she felt like they could always use more. After all, what was wrong with having every surface of their den suitable for mating on?
