Little Bit of This. Little Bit of That.

Once again Scylla had snuck away. She was small and crafty and had a knack for knowing just when the grown ups were distracted enough to not notice her. Then she dissolved like a breath on the wind. Gone and off to get into trouble. That should have been her middle name, really. It wasn't that she particularly wanted to get into trouble, but the things that she wanted to do were seen as trouble. She wanted to see things and learn things and see what was inside of things. The girls little, wiggly digits made it easy to pull things apart.
As the long tailed child sat on the beach, trying to pull a crab out of its shell, the very waves seemed to wash a glowing creature towards her. The crab was instantly dropped and forgotten, scuttling away quickly. The striped girl stepped towards the waves, her mismatched eyes narrowed as she observed. Rising from the water... was herself. Scylla released a soft sound of alarm and took a step backwards. A mirror image of herself, glowing brightly, pranced out of the waves. Her mouth set in a hard line, the tiny princess refused to run, but she was thoroughly confused.
Scylla should be seen as a very adult character who will indulge in acts that others may find graphic and uncomfortable. Steer clear if you don't like this sort of thing.

His ability to follow his sister or go out alone had mostly to do with who was supposed to be keeping their eye on them. Getting away from Siren was the most difficult, then Dalila, and then Chimera. Albion certainly appreciated the free hand the man allowed his children to have within the island. Of course they were protected always, no one made it to the island and even less made it through their dad. That was usually the best time to catch the boy following after his sister. He did not enjoy being scolded, and did whatever he could to get out of being in trouble with an adult.
His steps were confident now, huge paws leaving easily traceable prints in the sand. His ivory tail swayed at his hips as glass blue eyes found his sister’s long furred form near the surf. The massive full moon shone down on them, a welcome reprieve from the harsh sun. Alion already preferred a nocturnal life. The nights were strange, or so he was told, with all of the added glowing around them. Specks of light floated around them, glowing sand fleas buried themselves in the surf, and strangest of all was the ghostly figure that rose from the ocean in front of his sister.
Albion froze, mouth held open and eyes staring for a long moment before shuffling closer. Unable to do anything but let the curiosity get the better of him. Before he realized the boy was standing beside Scylla.

Pale movement from the corner of her eye brought Scylla's gaze to Albion. The girl's gaze narrowed as she tried to make out whether or not he was real, but as he drew near to her, she realized that he only glowed by the light of the moon. As her giant brother stood beside her, Scylla stepped closer, touching her shoulder against his closest foreleg just for comforts sake. Just like before, she asked her brother, "What is it?"
Across the beach, the glowing version of herself danced and playing in the luminescent waves. The specter wolf rose on its hind paws and manipulated the waves as if using some sort of magic. It pulled another form from the surf and this ball of water gradually took the shape of Albion. Scylla's eyes widened for a moment and she pressed a little harder into her brother's shoulder. The shapes didn't seem to show any interest in the pair of wolves. They merely began playing in the rolling waves together.

The boy narrowed his gaze as Scylla looked up to him on his approach. He forgave her easily, with the apparition on the ocean he doubted her only slightly as he walked forward. She seemed to accept as much as he had that their true sibling stood before them and Scy leaned against him searching for comfort. Again she questioned him, but now he had no real excuse to hide behind. This wasn’t a glowing tree, it was a spirit. It had to be.
"The spirits playing tricks on us.” He commented softly. Their family had a history of being closer to the other world, maybe they possessed the same talents. He’d already surmised as much under the great tree. The small sprite danced over the waves, and just as she thought it would slip into the ocean another one appeared, taking on his form. Albion stared hard at the hallucination. "Or our gifts.” He followed up with after a moment of watched the strange sight. Or maybe it wasn’t so strange, maybe this was fully normal for the pair of pups.

Albion was quick to answer that it was spirits playing with them. Or their gifts, he added. Scylla frowned. She didn't think that she had these gifts that her mother and father spoke of. Apparently her mother had premonitions and her father used to be able to see the dead. The blue and cream child had never had an inkling of any sort of gifts. Perhaps her brother did, but she wasn't certain how much of it was fact and how much of it was wishful thinking.
Scylla's ears pulled back as the pair of spirits frolicked down the beach, their glow waning with each step until they disappeared fully from view. The burning blue fireflies went with them. "I think I want to go home." It wasn't that she was scared, but the girl had a lot to think about. "Will you go with me?" Mismatched eyes shifted upwards to meet her brother's pale blue gaze.

Scylla said nothing to his words, revealing neither if she agreed with him or not. At the least he could see the conflict in the line of her lip, but like he was good at, said nothing. She asked, he told her. At least she didn’t call him a dummy this time. Albion barely withheld another eye roll as he watched the apparition float into nonexistence.
Silence filled the night as much as the uneasy moonlight. For a moment everything was still and it seemed like the show was over. Something told the boy that this wasn’t the end, it was only the very beginning. His tiny sister looked up to him then, expression her deepest desire as she asked him to accompany her. He couldn’t say if it was fright or affection but there weren’t many times her big brother denied her. "I will,” he told her with a soft grin and led the way.

Scylla
A small turtle grows weary in it’s journey and retreats into it’s shell for a break. From where you stand, it seems as if some sort of light source shines dimly inside the shell. You also find 4 mushrooms. Maybe these are worth keeping…
