Halloween Event - Phase 2

October 16 - 30 (11:59pm PST)

It continues...

Nights now are exceedingly long and the moon never sets. The stars form trails in the sky from horizon to horizon and there seems to never be clouds in the sky. Characters may begin to feel on edge or lethargic with the unusually long evenings. Some may hear whispers like from dreams or memories, voices of those long gone. Sunrises and sunsets cast the skies in indigo and navy, but never the brilliant warm tones they once had. Bioluminescent bacteria and fungi are beginning to become common in and around water sources. Mists fill the valleys and creep up the sides of mountains, almost seeming to cast a cool light over all it touches. Even during the day, blue 'fireflies' are seen in the shadows of trees and almost always near new sprouts of glowing plants. Similarly, luminescent crystals begin to poke out of nearly any hard surface in small clusters. Rocks and bones seem to be the most common anchor to these strange crystals, and they glow almost as if they were breathing.

It looks like firefly guy might be up to something as well?... Is that a traveling shop? Among the various items, you are able to spot racing shoes and an assortment of potions. Maybe if you're lucky, he'll visit your event threads! I wonder if some of these crystals and mushrooms would work as currency...

Be aware of the following:

• The prompt you choose will influence your progress in the event, as well as possible rewards/punishments moving forward.
• No one path is designed to be better or worse than the others, so choose which feels most natural for your character.
• If you no longer wish to continue or play out a certain path, you may stop posting at any time, but you may find you are locked from certain options as the event unfolds.
• We strongly encourage everyone to play out the NPC rolls (and remember that they are meant to be actually happening to your character), even if they are done solo... who knows, there might even be something special in store for those who do…
• Please avoid assuming anything not explicitly stated about the strange phenomena, this phase is about investigation and information gathering. Player and character co-operation and information sharing is highly encouraged. As characters interact and learn more information, as expressed directly through NPC posts, will be added here and you may use any of the gathered information from this list in your posts.
• IMPORTANT: The world is growing more dangerous. Participating assumes a reasonable amount of risk and/or injury. Proceed with caution! Remember that with great risk often comes great reward... or so they say...

How to participate:

1. Each character can submit one event prompt for this phase
2. Each character must pick one prompt to complete.
3. Each thread must have a minimum of 3+ rounds per character, or a single post of 1,000 words.

Prompts:

1. Investigate the bioluminescent fungi and bacteria that are becoming increasingly more common everywhere. They are especially common around water sources and damp, humid areas. Spend some time investigating them and seeing what you can learn from them. The way they ebb and glow in sync with your heartbeat makes you feel oddly compelled to touch one, and maybe even try a taste, but...
2. Investigate the growing crystals that are forming on hard surfaces. Even stranger than the fungi, these bioluminescent crystals seem to be growing from any solid surface they can find, from rocks to bones and even old structures. Like the fungi, they not only glow but seem somehow alive. You feel inclined to touch them, taste them, and maybe even eat one...
3. Investigate the constant blue fireflies, and the strange voices on the wind that seem to follow them. Some are more than just wind - perhaps some sound distinctly like voices from a dream, or someone no longer of this world. The lights seem to dance in the dark and you can't help but feel like them and the whispers are beckoning you to follow...
