the most dangerous thing is to love
She moved on from the Moontouched Cliffs, wary of remaining too close to the fall that could easily end her life. While she was normally quite sure of her footing, the fact that night had claimed the world startled her and made her unwilling to get too close, despite her generous curiosity at the glow.
Today, she found herself standing before a series of glowing moon-pools.
Mushrooms popped up along the edges of the water, glowing vibrantly against the darkness. Even in the water, she could see swirling dots of blue and green, dancing along with the ripples of the spring. She was uncertain - this place had an odd odor that warned her not to attempt to drink. Still... her curiosity was piqued and she stepped forward cautiously, ears pricking and twisting for anyone who might be coming up behind her.
Her eyes set on the pool of water, a patch of fungus also before her and to her right.
Her gaze was drawn to the shrooms thoughtfully and she stood still, watching as the glow grew and dimmed. Realization dawned slowly and grew in intensity as her heart began to beat faster, the mushrooms somehow keeping up with the thumping she could hear in her ears. Her eyes narrowed and she twisted her head, inspecting the fungi from a slightly different angle for a moment before her eyes set upon the pool once more.
She leaned down to sniff at the water, nose pinching at the stench of sulfur.

The Hot Springs remained one of Tyrian's favorite lands. If it had more to offer than toasty bathwater he would have moved lands in a heartbeat. The hot springs were all the aptly named land boasted, however, so Tyrian was content to visit. But someday should his lands increase and the pack could afford a frivolous add-on he was claiming this bitch and making it his personal bathtub. He watched as a woman approached and picking carefully around a pool's edge. She didn't seem to notice him floating in a pool nearby - which didn't surprise him in the least since he was up to his chin in hot water and dark-colored. Tyrian frowned as she bent down. She wasn't going to drink that, was she? Surely not. Tyrian reluctantly lifted one of his arms out of the pool and laid it on the bank so he could face the woman fully. The cold air was biting and unpleasant, but this was his good deed for the day so he ignored the sudden chill. "I wouldn't drink that, if I were you." "" |

A voice rang out and she tensed slightly, eyes instantly flashing to the source.
There was a dark man in one of the further pools, his jaws bearing fangs reminiscent of someone close to her heart. She was instantly looking him over - at least what she could see above the glistening pool of water - and determining how much of a threat he might be. His head and arm were massive, meaning that he would tower over her if he were to remove himself from the pool. She did not know if she had ever met a man so large, were they common in this region?
Ah,she said, remembering herself,
It smells too much of sulfur anyways - but thank you.
No need to come out into the cold on my behalf. Her head was now lifted away from the water to peer over at the stranger.
Did it always glow like so, or did that come with the Long Night?she asked, indicating towards the dots of light within the water that washed over the man.
Does it affect the way the water feels? Her eyes trailed to the empty pools, then back to the one before her. She lifted a paw carefully and tapped at the surface of the water, watching as the ripples moved, visible only by the light of the strange phenomenon.

At the mention of the glow Tyrian dropped his arm back into the water and swiveled back around to glance the steaming pools. "The glow is new. Until very recently this place was all foul odor and warm water." The odor was by far the worst part about this place. Even then, Tyrian would deal with the stink any day as long as the waters were toasty in winter. He shrugged and looked back at the woman with a smirk. "I like to think of it as a night light of sorts; the gods' 'fuck, sorry' gift while they sort out the-" he twirled a paw emphatically up at the sky -"real lighting problem." Not that he blamed any of the things that were happening on a cohort of deities or something. In truth, he hadn't ever considered any gods long enough to wonder about their existence, so he had no one to blame when things got wonky. Still, it was a funny thought in his opinion. "" |
