Silver Shores [Hattori]

Come down, come down sweet reverence
Jynn lingered around the equator, seeking to find the warmest places to stay for the winter but inevitably she was drawn up into Boreas again. She scooted along the southern shores before deciding to visit the Silver Island again. Once she swam across she settled out on the beach to dry, watching the sun slowly setting on the horizon and the last of its light being smothered out by the light of the full moon and the strange dusky sky. At least it was warmer here than farther north into Boreas. For all the eeriness of the winter night the full moonlight made the silvery sands seem to glow a pale silver and sparkle as if the whole beach was one large diamond.

His venture of island hopping continued, this time to the far west of Boreas' shores. The Shogun had little reason to head out this way and as far as he was concerned it homed two of the quieter packs, those who mostly kept to themselves. But the crescent shaped island in the distance tempted him close and though the water was a little warmer here he found it still rather unpleasant and so was pleased when his paws hit the silver tinted sand.
His gaze roved over the land, noting the tropical nature of its flora and fauna, seemingly untouched by winter's chill. Perhaps this place was unaffected by the general strange goings-on in the world. He strained his ears to listen and the voices were quiet here, nothing more than whispers on the breeze. Sweeping his gaze back across the beach, he noticed Jynn resting on the curve some ways away. He shouldn't have been surprised really, she was an explorer at heart.
Padding over, he didn't bother introducing himself. "What do you make of this place?"

Jynn heard Hattori approach before she saw him but when she did she smiled and bounced over to him. "Hattori! Good to see you again. I hope you've been well." As far as she could tell the weirdness of this winter was everywhere and she was sure it had fallen upon Hattori's pack just as it had everywhere else. "It's beautiful here. One of the few places where the beauty given by the light of the full moon can almost outweigh the creepiness of the atmosphere." She stretched her front limbs out, her toes spreading as she massaged the silvery sand. It had managed to absorb some heat during the day but not nearly as much as if they'd had full sun.

Hattori dipped his head. Though he couldn't say he knew Jynn very well, they'd travelled enough that he found her presence quite tolerable and trusted her judgement on most things. Following her line of sight, his eyes glinted silver to match the hue of the beach. Of all the islands he'd crossed he had to say he was fond of this one and the sense of peace and quiet it instilled. Its feeling of awayness, detached from the rest of the world.
Hearing a rustling from the foliage, Hattori turned and saw a wild pig snuffing around in the mud. Seemingly unafraid of the two predators on its doorstep. He supposed it was a natural result of being separate from the main bulk of its species, they lost their sense of fear and caution.
"Mm. It is worth the swim." He concluded.

Hattori was short in his speech, as usual. Jynn's ears flicked back as she heard rustling in the forest behind her. She sprang to her feet, hackles raised but it turned out to be a wild boar who did not seem to give any effs that there were wolves about. It looked up at her for a moment then went back to rooting around in the undergrowth. Her fur slowly settled but she still eyed the pig warily. "Seems everyone is out tonight. So what brings you out this way?" Hattori did do a fair bit of exploring for an alpha, she knew that from traveling with him but she was still curious as to what brought him out to the western isles.

Hattori supposed it was harder to sleep these days. That the days and nights blurred into one, ruining sleep schedules and routines as everyone scrambled to figure out what was going on. Whether they would succeed was anyone's guess. The large primeval creatures had left on their own accord, not as a result of everyone's group efforts so Hattori wasn't going to hold his breath. Maybe it would all fade away like morning fog.
"I wanted new scenery." Was the short response, the rest was too long to delve into for now. That and he didn't wish to speak of it. "Though I visited the south of Auster, even there it's like this." Which was to say there was no fleeing nor ignoring it.
Looking out to the waters, it was clear and crystalline. This place would be great for fishing, if Hattori was so inclined.

Jynn nodded lightly as Hattori explained he was in search of new scenery. She rested her head on top of her legs and gazed out at the dark ocean which undulated to and from the shore. "Yea, that's the weird thing. The light is like this everywhere, whether you're at the poles or right in the middle." She just didn't know what to make of it and could only hope that it would pass when winter did. If it continued longer than that the plants would not get enough sunlight to thrive. They'd die. Then the plant-eaters would die, and the meat-eaters after. It could mean the end of everything. "I just hope this goes away when spring arrives."
