The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3

The starlit plains were a relativrly peaceful place, and despite the strange occurences about the continent, and the unpleasantries involved with them, it didn’t deter Lae from allowing herself a place of reprieve. After all, the castle’s lands could only be explored so much, patrolled so often, and traipsed through to an extent. It became a bit monotonous after a while, thus the new area.

If one allowed themselves to sit and watch the sky, the grasslands and the sky itself seemed to stretch for milennia. A vast nebula of various inexplicable colors meshed together in swirling, misted glowing patterns that lit the continent like nothing else. The monochromatic woman wandered for a bit, allowing the cool grass to tickle her toes. It was peaceful, or an inner sanctum, however you called it. It was the perfect spot for quiet reflection — as long as her mind didn’t wander to the less direable places of her psyche. With a soft grunt in discomfort as her hip and knee joints crunched and snapped together, she managed to sit back in her haunches to allow herself this rest. It wouldn’t be too bad if someone else were to come across this refuge, as she had.

One could indeed see a great distance across plains, and it wasn’t all that far to where the pack’s boundary lines lay.  So it was if she watched she might notice a small deer with fangs approach, eating up the grass as it neared the packland.  It seemed unphased by the scent of wolves ahead. Its tail flashed merrily back and forth as it enjoyed the good grazing.

It wouldn’t be long though before a wolf approached the deer, not to hunt it but apparently talk to it.  “Torch, this is too close.” Kichi spoke to his friend.  He glanced past the deer towards the plains, spotting the other wolf.  Cautiously he took in the scents, he was at the fringe of the border but not quite crossing a line.  Depending on how fine of a line they labeled it. “You can’t just walk on another's pack land.”

The deer barked a short response and stomped a hoof in some apparent irritation.

“I don’t care, now c’mon.”  He never let his eye drop from watching the wolf on the lands beyond.  Kichi was well aware that he traveled with a natural food source for his own kind, one relatively easy to kill with its smaller size and lack of horns.  Would the wolf be offended by their presence.  Kichi was no coward but he didn’t plan to stay long enough in case more of the pack was close.
