Esti arose as if she had awoken right where she had breathed her last. IT was dying in reverse for her. The darkness became memories, her body began to feel heat again. The vivid greens and blues shocked her vision, then became something normal. Her mind went from nothingness to face paced thoughts and memories: the laughter, blood, fights, intimate nights, the smiles, all coming back to her. Her body tingled, like she was waking up. Her heart started again, speeding up its pace as her shallow breathing became full once more.

She wasn't aware of the time that passed. She wasn't aware of the decay on the earth. She simply was again, looking sleepily around at the mists surrounding her and her beloved willows- where she had died, and where she now lived- as unaware that she had ever been dead and not simply napping.

As he fell further into the grip of the sickness Valentine's mood worsened. Cantankerous on the best days he was now paranoid to boot. His children were all hateful and out to ruin him, failures, or both. Mostly both. No one, not even his brand spankin' new grandchildren, could do right. He could feel them all talking about him. The unrelated pack wolves too. Whispering when they thought old ears couldn't hear. To hell with them all, he finally decided. He was going to chase them off his land. To do it he had set out on a quest to find those who had helped him kill Rhythm's captors all those years ago. There was Avalon, of course, and several paid fighters who he was certain he would find out this way. He would find them and together they would reclaim his land.

A stubborn, haughty figure, he marched through the woods with the air of a man who would not be interrupted. But interrupted he would be, apparently, as who but a long dead woman sat up from the ground as though waking from a nap. Valentine reared back like a startled horse and eyed Esti like she might breathe fire at him at any moment. "Fuck, woman. How'd you escape?" He peeked behind her. "Did you bring Cascade with you?"

A familiar voice called to her and Esti spun to see the figure of Valentine. Had he returned? Would he come and put the pieces of Imperium back together? "Valentine?" she asked, her voice scratchy from misuse. "Did you find them?" She had never cared for Rhythm, but her kids were Valentine's and he cared about Rhythm, so that was reason enough to not want her harmed.

He asked how she escaped and she looked at him totally confused. "Uh... I've just... been here?" Escaped what? He asked if she brought Cascade and Esti furrowed her brow. "Didn't she go to look for you? Or something? Did you and Angel tell Ash you're back?"

Valentine was quick to mirror Esti's confusion. His only experience with deceased wolves involved them knowing they were dead so it didn't occur to him that not all their experiences were the same. He eyed her in grumpy confusion before asking flatly, "what?" She was making no sense. He was a man on a mission and his feverish, one track mind had no room to sort out whatever nonsense long dead Esti was talking about.

"I don't have time for this." He brushed passed her. "They've been stealing from me for too long. Unappreciative bastards." He was going to clear them out and start over. Imperium would rise again and this time he would do right by them.

He paused. Esti had been a good soldier. Defeated a lion in battle and all that. He could use her help. "Come with me. Help me throw them out and whatever you want is yours."

The man looked at Esti with confusion before pushing past her in a gruff. He said he didn't have time for all of this and that someone had been stealing from him for too long, that they were unappreciative bastards. Esti was an entirely sure who or what he was talking about, but if they crossed him, crossed Imperium, then she was all for clearing out and getting rid of the problem no matter what the cost. She was already ready to back him when he turned to her and told her to come with him. He said that if she helped him whatever she wanted was hers. Like music to her ears, she thought. The idea of being able to fight again for imperium and beside Valentine with the promise of spoils to be all hers was more than enough. With a slight but happy sway of her tail, Esti set off to follow behind the broad man. "Fuck yeah," she said. "About time."

With Esti in tow Valentine marched off in search of mercenaries. He was going to gather his forces and go home with an army. The ingrates would be foisted from HIS lands and then he could get to work rebuilding his empire with a worthy membership base. Valentine hadn't even built up an army yet and he was already thinking about the things he would need when Imperium was his again. It wouldn't be too hard to find like-minded individuals. There were wolves out there who shared his dream. Imperium was only a stone's throw away.
