Finding My Feet

Álarr had no real plans for the day. He was still recovering from his illness and trying to get his feet back underneath him. He walked from the barn, did a few laps then returned and then back again. He was eager to get his legs back in shape so he could go out wandering and gathering herbs. Each day they had a little more sunlight and now that spring was here he hoped to replenish his stores. Álarr had gone through a number of herbs in trying to heal his own illness as well as that of his pack mates. At least spring was arriving and they weren't going right into winter. He made note to finish his greenhouse so he could extend the time of available fresh herbs.

Tyrian was feeling pretty good today so he roved the Range with high spirits and a quickness in his step that had been absent for far too long. When he came across his brother naturally Tyrian made a beeline for him. "Alarr!" he called as he approached. "How are you feeling today?" Tyrian knew his brother had been working tirelessly on a cure since the beginning and though he'd gotten sick himself, he hadn't stopped while in the grips of it. If his brother was doing well then they really where in the homestretch. "" |

Álarr turned his head as he heard his brother call his name. He grinned as watched his brother bound up to him, grateful to see the other had made progress defeating his illness and looked to essentially be healed. It was a huge relief! After learning of the loss of two of their older members Álarr had been terribly fearful about the health of all the others affected. "Better. Not yet 100% but each day I feel my strength returning. You like you're doing much better. Would you fancy a spar? I'd like to work on building my strength back up." He wasn't sure if Tyrian was suffering the same weakness as he was but a spar might be good to get a feel for how well his brother and alpha was recovering.

Though he'd guessed at the news before receiving it Tyrian was still relieved to hear how well Alarr was doing. He'd feared greatly for the ill of the pack and since they'd suffered losses any good news was worth celebrating. "You don't know how glad that makes me," he said with a small smile. Better yet, his brother felt well enough for a spar. After brief consideration Tyrian's smile widened and he fell into a defensive stance. "Of course. I'd never miss a chance to beat up - I mean - help my brother recover." He lunged forward suddenly and sought to wrap his forelegs around Alarr's neck. His brother was bigger than him, but not by much and Tyrian was no slouch. His goal was to wrestle Alarr to the ground by using his legs to twist Alarr's neck to the side thus upsetting his balance. Álarr smirked at his brother's reply. "We'll see, dear brother." He sounded more confident then he felt for when he moved suddenly he knew the throbbing in his head would increase from its regular, somewhat ignorable, dull ache. Still, there was only one way to gain back his strength and should they be raided while recovering he would need to be able to fight through any discomfort. Álarr was pretty sure he couldn't convince any would-be raiders to take a rain check on account of his own health.
Álarr set his defenses and prepared for the battle to begin. Tyrian charged swiftly forward like a charging bison and Álarr was slow to react. He found his brothers arms around his neck. He swiftly spread his legs to maintain his balance and pushed forward hard with all for legs seeking to ram his chest into his brothers. He hoped to use his brother being up on two legs to his advantage, hoping to knock the heavier man onto his back. He was more than willing to be pulled forward if he could just land on top.

He managed to get his arms around Alarr's neck and was beginning to try to wrestle them both to the side when he felt Alarr pushing forward. Hoping to salvage his attack, Tyrian began to give up ground as it became necessary but continued to try to wrestle his brother to the side. He took one quick, shuffling step back at a time so that one foot was always planted; his haste making it appear to any observer like an awkward dance step. All the while his tail windmilled as he tried to keep his balance. Tyrian glanced behind to make sure he wasn't about to run into anything. If Alarr was going to push him over backwards he was going to have to try harder. Álarr pushed as best he could and at first it seemed like he was making some headway. He could feel his brother taking back step after step but he just couldn't get the leverage needed to knock his brother fully over backwards. Álarr was enjoying the tussle though, it was strange to fight without trying to use his teeth but it put him at a disadvantage against his larger, heavier brother. A sudden twist and Álarr knew he was going to be tossed to the side. He let himself fall and quickly tucked his hind legs into his belly with his tail between his legs. He then kicked out the second he kit the ground, seeking to slam his back paws into Tyrian's belly.
