Serenity had felt herself out of shape since the wavering plague that didn't find it deadly on herself but it seemed to affect everyone differently. If anything it just creeped her out, gave her that feeling like something was under her skin. The worst she had was a small cough and a few mushrooms that grew out of a less than minor wound from her leg. But everything seemed fine for her now.
She was out on patrol as was needed, but since her more relaxing time, not so much a vacation in the infirmary, she could just feel how much more winded she was only from the walk around the borders. Not much seemed to happen after the events over the last season or so, and there was little she was worried about anymore.
She was lost in her empty thoughts in routine with her steps along the border when she heard a crunch from behind her of the crinkly grass in the colder months of Auster. She jumped quick, spinning around and coming face to face with a tiger that may have come out of hiding just like she had. Why did this always happen when she was out here? She didn't even call for help, instead growling in response and immediately lunging forward to bite the cat's foreleg. She was going to aim to pester and drive it away from the pack, then outrun it and come back around to The Hallows.

Since returning to the Hallows, Fern has allowed her body to rest as it needed. Her stitched together shoulder is mending, only smarting when she swings the limb too wide and the healing skin pulls against the sutures. While the gray girl stays at the castle, allowing her body to heal, Fern has taken it upon herself to try and be helpful while here. That is why she is out patrolling the borders of the plains, making sure that the Hallows remains a safe place. Aqua eyes sweep the area, nose testing the air for any signs of danger. Everything seems safe and Fern turns to head back toward the castle, her body already tried from the short patrol.
A scent drifts on the breeze, reaching her nostrils as she readies to leave. Fern stops dead in her tracks as she recognizes it, she and a stranger had fought one before. Quickly, Fern changes directions, following the scent toward the tiger. She moves carefully through the brush, trying not to give away her position. The striped rump of a tiger finally comes into view and Fern hunkers down preparing to strike. She hopes to make Rudy proud of her. The tiger moves out of cover, coming face to face with a familiar wolf and Fern feels her heart drop. It is the wolf that she fought alongside with when the sick bear attacked! Serenity, her name is Serenity.
Aqua eyes watch as the startled Serenity turns to face the large feline, quickly switching into attack mode and growling at the cat. She lunges forward, snapping at one of the tiger’s forelegs. Luckily, the cat seems as startled as the wolf and it takes a moment longer to recover. Without warning, Fern pushes her body forward, dashing toward the large feline as it raises a paw to swing at Serenity’s head. A streak of gray plows headlong into the tiger’s side, knocking it off balance and making the paw swing wide. Fern is already retreating, moving to stand next to Serenity and look at the recovering cat. Glancing at the wolf, Fern dips her head in silent greeting before setting her defenses and reading for her strike.

She didn't know what was happening as the cat was pushed over, she didn't let go so easily as her teeth tore along the cat's foreleg leaving deep lacerations. The flash of someone else beside her caught her eye, it seemed she wouldn't need to call for help after all.
Though as the two of them joined side by side, Serenity took a better glance at the young woman who came to her aide. She couldn't help a quick spitting laugh at the sight of her. Not because of the way she looked or anything, but because it seemed she was drawn to Serenity in times of trouble. With a cheeky grin, Serenity moved forward toward the tiger as it started to get back up on it's paws, a heavy beast just a bit slow to find it's footing under it again. It didn't seem so ready to rush off away from the pack though. Before it was completely up, Serenity jumped up onto it's shoulders, latching on with her teeth at it's scruff and her front paws nearly hugging around the top of it. She felt like she was riding a bull as it started to move around, attempting to throw her off it's body. This time the predator didn't seem to feel so threatened by them. And she was hoping just a little that they wouldn't have to kill it and it would just run off like the last. It wasn't looking so promising though. At least they wouldn't have ooze splashed all over and in them this time.

As Fern retreats away, coming to stand close to Serenity, she offers her fighting companion a wide grin. The earthy toned wolf spits a laugh toward the gray girl and Fern throws her a wink. Resetting her stance, Fern starts to jog slowly around the side of the tiger as Serenity moves forward. The tiger is trying to get his paws under him when Serenity jumps up and onto the tiger’s back and latches onto its scruff with her teeth. Earthen hued legs wrap around the tiger’s neck, trying to stabilize her hold on the big cat.
The tiger is not happy. The cat throws its head back, yowling its displeasure at them. Fern sees her opening, gray paws pushing toward the big cat as she opens her mouth wide. Teeth close around the tiger’s throat, sinking deep into the soft flesh and filling her mouth with warm blood. The cat releases a strangled cry, uncertain how the fight’s momentum changed against him so quickly. It bucks, trying to dislodge either the wolf on his back or the wolf at his throat.
Fern releases her hold when it swings a massive paw toward her head, dropping to the ground to roll away from lethal paws that try to find her. When she is safe, the gray girl springs back up to her paws and scurries out of the cat’s range of attack. Aqua eyes search for Serenity, questioning, with a raise of her brow, what Serenity wants to do. Do they try to kill or drive away?

Fern dives deep into the tiger’s throat, her lips a bloody mess not that Serenity was worried about that, now or ever really. The tiger threw its hind end up in the air multiple times, Serenity holding on tightly until she couldn’t anymore being thrown from the cat landing back quickly on her paws. Fern avoided a swoop coming her way, and Serenity jumped forward in unison to the tiger’s movement. Her teeth sank deep into the tiger’s throat, just where Fern had wounded it. And finally she was able to tear it apart. The beast became wobbly almost instantly, the dead weight dropped with a thud as it’s death was quick. Serenity wiped her maw on her leg, her eyes turning to Fern with a stern look of thankfulness. "We need to stop meeting like this." She teased with a gentle grin before looking down at the tiger. It’s pelt would work nicely in their stores or beds for the infirmary. But the meat they could transfer outside the pack lands, it wasn’t as desirable.

The tiger realizes that he is losing and redoubles his effort to rid himself of the two wolves. Fern dodges swinging paws and snapping teeth, working to keep the cat’s attention on her. She snaps and snarls, growls and lunges, all while weaving in front of the cat. It unseats Serenity and Fern growls at the big cat. It raises a large paw and brings it down toward Fern. The panicked beast swings in a wide arch and Serenity quickly slips in, latching onto the open wound on the tiger’s throat. She shreds the wound open, causing the creature’s eyes to widen as it stumbles sideways, blood pouring from the open wound. With a great crash the tiger falls to the ground and stills, the last of its life draining away with its blood.
Fern turns her aqua gaze to Serenity, tail wagging lightly as she mimics the earthen hued wolf and wipes the blood from her lips. Soft lavender meet bright oceans and Serenity makes a quip about meeting like this. The teasing tone is offset by the gratefulness Fern finds in her eyes. With a light, mock-hurt tone, Fern says, “What? And miss all the fun animals you find?” Tossing Serenity a wink, Fern looks to the body of the dead tiger and says, “So… heads or tails? Which end you want to drag?”
