The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3

The past season and a half had been particularly hard for her. Not only did her blindness make it hard to be on her own, but the voices that plagued her up until the last couple of weeks made things more difficult because she often couldn't tell what was real and what wasn't. Whether someone was actually there or not. Though she still retained peripheral vision, it still wasn't easy and her paranoia had grown when she had to constantly turn her head to make sure she was actually alone and not about to be ambushed by another predator or someone who wanted to take advantage of her while in that state. She decided then, that she would find the closest pack to her instead of blindly searching around. If this one turned out to not be a good fit, she was hopeful they'd at least let her stay for a short time while she figured things out.

Forging ahead, she walked with her head tilted slightly so she could see the path in front of her. To her surprise, she came upon a wall that was erected around what seemed to be the perimeter of a pack unknown to her, judging by the scents that assaulted her nose. Tired, hungry, and on edge, she approached the wall and cautiously sniffed at it. This sort of thing was foreign to her, and she wasn't sure where or if there were any openings she could find so that someone might see her better. But all things considered, she opted to tilt her head back and sing a soft howl to whomever might be able to help her.

Samhain 2022The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3

Ardyn Cadeyrn Aodhán Phoenix Adravendi

He was tucked into the sentry hide at the top of the wall, keeping watch while ruminating on all that had transpired. Some of it he was still wrapping his head around, learning to accept it. He’d been able to accept his grandfather’s passing—it had been the crimson Archangel’s time.

He drew in a sigh, before movement out on the plains caught his attention and he shifted his gaze to watch. A pale, small wolf, female, judging by the scent on the breeze wafting toward him. Curiously, she walked with her head tilted, as if listening for the ground ahead of her. Blind?

Silently, he watched as she found the wall. Partially blind? She seemed to see the wall before she ran into it, and after a few beats of investigation, she called out. She was thin, and if one could smell of hunger, she’d reek of it.

Ardyn slid from the Hide and padded the ten or fifteen feet along the wall that sat between them, settling on his belly, front paws hanging over the edge as he studied the woman, greeting, “Good day, Lady. What brings you to Valhalla’s border?”

His tone was easy, curious, a gentle rumble before he let her take the next step in the formalities.

Walk ---- "Speak" ---- "Labhair an Sean-Teanga." ---- "Hear" ---- Think

Ardyn's family (Red, Aurielle, Siblings, Valhalla) are allowed to crash threads, regardless of private tags.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.

Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.

More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.

His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.

A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.

Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.

He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.

She hadn't expected anyone to be on top of the wall. So when she heard a masculine voice, she couldn't help but startle for a moment as her tail wagged nervously. The owner of the voice sounded nice. Gentlemanly. It didn't sound like a voice that would harm her, but from her experiences, sounds could be deceiving. She tilted her head a bit to her left in an effort to catch a glimpse of the stranger and spotted him atop the wall. He looked huge compared to her, a coat of raven black though she swore it looked as if embers were in his coat, seemingly shifting when the breeze gently ruffled his fur. "Hello, erm..sir. I apologize for disturbing you, but I've come looking for possible shelter...I've been on my own for some time, and things have been rather...hard as of late." She aligned her head with the rest of her body so that it appeared as if she were looking right at him. She wasn't sure if she should disclose that she was partially blind just yet...though she was sure it would become obvious sooner rather than later. She always felt that if she told others, they'd treat her like she was helpless. And while yes, she did have her challenges, she was almost as capable as anyone else with full sight.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Noelle Destruction, and if you wouldn't mind, I am curious about your pack," She swallowed nervously. She hadn't really been in this position before, so the formalities of it all were genuinely new to her. Still, she was hopeful and she wondered what this pack was about.

She spooked slightly as his voice reached her, and he listened to her words, studying her frame and silently agreeing that she could use shelter. His muzzle dipped, half in a nod and his eyes slid away as he agreed aloud, "It's been a strange, rough couple of seasons."

Likely doubly hard for someone with impaired vision. He was more certain even as she directed her eyes straight at him, that she was partially blind at the very least. She'd seen him, he was pretty certain-- there'd been that pause some wolves did when they first caught a look at his coat's unnatural incandescence.

She was anxious, on edge, but his ears perked as she made her introduction. Destruction was a name well known to Valhalla, and likely most of the two continents. "It's a pleasure to meet another Destruction. We're allied with Abaven in the East of Boreas."

He rose, shaking out his coat, armor and beads rattling, and dropped, making a bit more noise than he normally would have as he moved to sit nearby, offering his own introduction as he smiled to the small Destruction.

"I am Ardyn Adravendi, Destiny - or Heir - of Valhalla. We're generally neutral unless attacked, or called upon to aid our allies. We encourage teamwork, loyalty, honesty and integrity, and all are required to learn at least the basics of healing and self defense."

His head cocked, edging toward her peripheral if she allowed it as he asked, "If you're looking to join, or simply stay a while until you've regained your weight and strength, what skills do you find yourself best acquainted with?"
