Malachai sauntered to a relative clearing among the trees. he rolled his shoulders. They'd been told to leave their weapons and companions behind which was fine by him, his claw covers were nice but Malachai prided himself on being pretty damn competent by himself. He rolled his shoulders as she moved, swinging to face his opponent. A malicious grin spread across his face and he eyed up his opponent. Another cousin no doubt. He eyed the other boy up for a moment before charging forward, a growl tearing from his lungs as he ran. He ducked his head, attempting to close the gap between the two young men and before he would otherwise headbutt his opponent instead he would try to reach down, jaws stretching to grab his opponent's left forepaw, hoping to grab and pull. Misery sauntered up to look over his opponent.  There was a lot of pride and confidence in that face, so was it warranted pride?  Misery knew he wasn’t the best fighter in the world but this was his home turf.  Misery had no notion of being able to win but there might be other rookies here coming for experience.  He smiled grimly at his challenger.  The other wolf wasn’t interested in talking apparently as he was already rushing in to attack.

Kotori grinned as the man charged in and used a front paw to swing a rock at the opponent's face.  He’d planned his starting point well for where h might have a one-second advantage.  Misery’s hope was the rock would be a distraction.  Misery ran towards the opponent, an opponent that was almost twice his size, attempting to bite into his opponent's front leg, aiming to get that first bite in.  If he didn’t start with a strong advantage he was very likely going to lose.

Maybe surprisingly it wasn't the first time Malachai was glad he had a thick head, the rock hit him, bouncing off his brow ridge and barely slowing him but no doubt he'd have a nasty bruise tomorrow, he winced but paws kept pounding. They nearly collided, two wolves both taking a hold on each other's forepaws, Malachai growled and winced as teeth dug into his flesh but he was bigger and stronger and as he spread his hindlegs to ground himself he yanked, rearing up to try and pull Misery off his paws, before attempt to slam back down, hoping to slam the smaller wolf if he did not release Malachai's leg with the force of returning him to the earth. Misery let go of the bite on Malachi’s leg, giving up his bite to save himself from whatever Malachi had planned when he reared up.  Misery grit his teeth knowing a game of strength wasn’t going to work against Malachi so his best bet was hoping to be faster.  Misery’s leg hurt where Malachi had bit.  The wound wasn’t all that bad but Misery preferred to avoid pain, it was one reason why he preferred to have others fight for him versus be in a real battle himself.

Misery ran towards Malachai, trying to look as if he’d aim for the leg again but then ducking his head and shoulders down as he got in close then lunging upwards, attempting to bite at the underside of Malachi’s neck.  If Misery got a good hold in just the right spot he imagined it could be what he needed for a victory but if the other wolf was faster it would be over regardless.
