It was getting so frickin’ hot out. Ivy wasn’t impressed, and he wasn’t amused. He was getting cranky. Wildly cranky. Picking fights? He could never… he could always. Ivy would pick at whichever sibling was closest, easiest to reach, easiest to swat at and goad into playing and fighting. Vocal without saying anything, the young boy grumbled to himself. Ulmaria would be a fine enough target. Ivy would go instigating and see if he could get a rise out of his sister. Of all the things he could do, it seemed like maybe the best use of his time, at least until he found Lotus or got bored— whichever came first. |

Ulmaria had scooted backwards into an abandoned badger hole. It had partially collapsed and she just barely fit. Unfortunately she couldn't get far enough in to get the sun out of her face. Poop! She bounded out of the den and shook the dirt out of her coat. Darn sun! It was too hot to be out but she didn't want to be back in the den surrounded by the hot, smelly bodies of her family.
She spied Ivy… or was that Lotus? No, no probably Ivy. She bounded toward him, eager for something to do that would take her mind off of how hot it was. "I'm booooreeeed. You wanna do something?" She really didn't care what at this point. Anything was better than nothing.

While they were still small potatoes in a big world, it would be easy to confuse Lotus and Ivy. That wouldn't last for long, though. Really, Ivy didn't mind being confused for Lotus, even if it did happen more often than not. The boy didn't know that it wouldn't last... but for now. For now, he could enjoy it. It was like being part of a secret club, where they were the only members. Really, it was pretty much the best thing. Ulmaria was bouncing in his direction, and Ivy pulled himself to his feet. With a soft, grumbling sort of vocalization the boy greeted his sister. He didn't even have to pester her, she'd come to pester him. Ivy stretched. "Yeah, commere. Come play or somethin,'" the boy swatted in her direction with his paws. At this point, Ivy wasn't even close enough to make contact. Still, maybe she'd... fight him or something, yeah. |

Ulmaria giggled as Ivy playfully swatted at her. Yea a spar! That would be something they could do and maybe she'd eventually get good enough to chase that badger off. "Ready or not, here I come!" She chirped. Her fur fluffed up, her ears pinning tightly to her head as her tail continued to wag rapidly back and forth. Mar bounded forward toward her brother and she tried to bite at his left ear. Her right paw rose seeking to push at his chest. It was unlikely she'd be able to budge him at all with such a small move but she didn't know any better and was just eager to get the spar going so they could have some fun.

A spar, a spar! Ivy was already feeling better about today than he had been just moments ago. Still a little crabby though-- blame it on the heat! Here I come, he heard her voice just before the girl was upon him. The boy did his best to fluff himself up in a similar way, trying to look bigger than he actually was. Not that he was actually fooling anyone, especially Ulmaria who saw him every day, but he could pretend! Ivy tried to toss his head, but that just seemed to accelerate the girl grabbing his ear. In his throat, he grumbled.
Her paw made contact with his chest, and Ivy did his best to use the opening where she didn't have all four on the floor. Though small, he made to ram himself into her on the side with the lifted foot. Somewhere between grumbling and laughing, the boy tossed his head once more, mouth opening and closing (not unlike a fish but hey, that's fine, he could look silly while they were playing) haphazardly. Maybe he'd catch some of the girl's fluff or something, but it was unlikely. Still, it was fun.

Ulmaria collided with her brother, her little fangs nibbling on her brother's ear as her paw landed on his chest. She felt like a big success! A mighty warrior! Until her brother pushed forward and she lost her balance. As she started to stumble she threw both front legs forward, trying to wrap them around Ivy's neck in the hopes of stopping herself from falling over. As she did she felt her brothers fangs tug on her scruff, pulling out a small puff of black fur. Ouch! She pinned her ears to her head, the pain reminding her that she needed to set her defenses though she just couldn't remember all of them.

Ivy let go a bit of a giggle-- he couldn't help it! There was something silly about seeing his sister tumbling about, even if it had hurt a bit to feel her teeth on his ear. Still, it was all about having fun, and they did well together. They would learn, in time. Both of them. Romping around in the grass was just the first step of learning, and the pair was really doing quite well.
Ivy came away with a tuft of black hair in his mouth, wincing. He'd apologize after they were done, it was only right. Those thoughts were pushed from his head as Ulmaria grabbed him about the shoulders, crashing into his body as she tried to steady herself. Ivy took a big step back, losing his balance as he did and staggering to the side. The best he could do now was flail about, hoping to take his sister down with him.
