Lorelai had returned to the banks of the river with a mission in mind. She knew her siblings were around somewhere nearby, as was Pops, but she couldn't waste her time napping in the sun when there was work to do! Walking up to the water's edge, mindful of her footing and careful not to tumble, she scouted the area for a good spot. Not that she really knew what she was looking for, not precisely, but she knew what she wanted. She wanted to make a beautiful bit of pottery, like the kind she had seen some grown-up wolves using.

Lore passed over a patch of sand, skipped over a stone-littered beach, before finally coming upon a washed-out curve where the ground was covered in a thick bed of silt and clay. Some of the nearby plants were still pressed flat, but whatever flood waters had been here in the past were gone now, having left behind a lovely new layer of muck for her to play in.

Lorelai quickly set to work, first dragging over a thin, flat rock from nearer the water's edge, then digging up a pile of goopy earth. Nosing it onto her work surface was a chore and left her face as mud-splattered as her paws had become, but she could clean up later! Staring down at the lump of ick, she paused... And realized maybe she hadn't thought far enough ahead. She poked the clay-mud with one tentative paw, eyeballing the impression left behind with growing skepticism.

Alright. Maybe this was going to be harder than she thought.

Ivy found himself far more busy than his twin brother. He needed to be doing things, and doing things basically all the time. If he was idle for too long, the small boy feared he might chew his own leg off from the sheer boredom of it all. Boredom, you see, was the enemy. He needed to do. Always do. Always go. At least they'd finally left Fireside, and they weren't chained to one place anymore. Still... something was off. Would mom be able to find them when she came back? Would she know how to track them down? She was smart. She'd be able to find them again, Ivy was sure of it.

The boy was far too awake for rest, and he grumbled softly to himself as he looked for something to do. Trouble to get in, probably. Trouble, or something else... at least something fun. Fleetingly, he thought of finding Lotus and waking him up, but maybe it was better to let sleeping dogs lie. He leaped and bounced over the soft ground near the banks of the river, eyes bright. It was that bright gaze that caught... what? "Lore, whatcha doing?" She was doing something with the sticky ickiness from the bottom of the river. And poking at it? Why though? Ivy was too intrigued to stay away. Carefully, he trotted closer to his sister, coming to poke the lump with his nose as well.

Kal liked trying to catch things, hit things, and bite things.  The particular thing he’d been chasing was a really fast lizard that was refusing to just give in.  The lizard was small and fast.  Kal would bite where it had been only to find it moved at the last moment. This time! Kal took another bite only to find the lizard had found some small crack in the earth and fit through it.  Ugh!

The boy wandered along idly looking for a new source of entertainment.  He spotted two more of the pups farther off and was about to run up to say hi when he spotted a couple of white and black birds hanging out between where he was and the other kids.  Kal grinned, crouched low to the ground, took one whole slow step forward before letting out a ‘whoo’ and charging the birds with powerful puppy yaps.  Yeah, he didn’t catch anything, no surprise there.  Jumping up in the air and snapping at air was fun though.  Looking up he watched the birds flying off giving a firm nod.  He showed them!  Whoops…one of the birds had landed a short distance further down!

Kal charged the bird which took flight and as Kal was about to jump after it his foot slipped on the wet mud and grass that was suddenly under him.  The boy went splat into the mud, glancing to the other two pups sheepishly, “Hey,” then his attention to the rock with muck on it curiously.  “Whatcha making?”  Making something seemed a good idea!  The boy glanced all about and then to some of the feathers the bird had left behind.  Were those useful for anything?
