A Moment of Solitude

Larisa had stolen away from the Elysium Band for the day, relishing the opportunity to be off on her own. Although she had lived most of her life in a pack, for some time now she had been on her own, and there was something strange about being surrounded by wolves again. Although there was probably no need for her to be secretive, she had left without saying a word to anyone - a small rebellion.
Larisa had followed the river as it twined its way up from the hot springs until she reached the waterfall. The falls were still strong and loud, sustained by continuing snowmelt in the mountains. She should probably look for some prey to hunt, she reasoned, to add to the band's stock for the long journey south, but she had been distracted by the growing sound and was curious to find its source. Larisa carefully walked up to the water's edge, the rocky ground surrounding the pools of water slick with spray. She dipped her head to drink her fill, ears pointed back and to the side to listen for approaching company.

The news that his father was actually here still hadn't settled well within his mind. He and his brother still would have to prepare how they were going to approach the wolf, but that would be a conversation for another day. Taking the time to think to himself, Kuroo wandered away from his floppy-eared brother to have some alone time. Not that he really wanted alone time, but figured it would do himself some good. A quiet sigh left his lips as his paws carried him over lush grass toward the bubbling noise of the falls. Approaching quietly with his pale eyes flicking back and forth in a lazy movement, he wondered if he'd find any company today. As he broke through the brush with the sight of the falls looming up before him, a rather feminine scent caught his nostrils. Both ears turned as he looked for the source until he found a slightly larger girl getting a drink from the water. A sip did sound rather nice. Before getting any closer to the stranger, Kuroo let his head drop to shoulder height and released a quiet chuff to let his presence be known. "Afternoon dear. Nice day to take a dip?" He spoke with his typical Japanese accent, one he hadn't ridden of just yet, and placed a friendly smile on his lips. Keeping a good few feet between him, the mottled and splotched wolf picked up his pace as he neared the edge of the pool beneath falls. As he was about to fall off the edge of the dirt that crumbled beneath his paws, he picked up all four and launched himself graciously into the chilly depths. When he resurfaced, his lungs gasped for air as he turned around to grin toward the girl. |
kuroo's tamarin, saru, should be assumed near/on him at all times.

The sound of the newcomer's arrival was drowned out by the crash of the waterfall, so Larisa did not notice his presence until he made himself known. Without lifting her head she raised her eyes in his direction to take him in. He seemed friendly enough, his posture submissive and relaxed. Her gaze followed him as he approached the water's edge, her ear flicking to pick up the sound of his voice. He spoke in a strange manner, Larisa never having heard an accent like his before. Was he a local? He seemed comfortable in the surroundings, and did not smell as though he was from some far-off land. Larisa had been away for some time, though, and things can change very quickly.
The male started to behave erratically, moving quickly towards the water's edge. Larisa thought he was sure to fall in, before he gathered himself up and jumped in! Larisa immediately straightened up in surprise, just as the spray of water hit her full in the face. She recoiled from the water, shaking out her wet fur immediately. She huffed as she looked back to him, a glare on her face. "It was a nice day," she snarled through gritted teeth, her paws digging into the rocks and dirt and tail flicking in annoyance. "Idiot," she muttered to herself, as she rolled her eyes at his grinning face.

Her distasteful tone through gritted teeth was not lost on the boy. It was clearly obvious that she had not enjoyed the splash of water that had come her way. Noting that her fur had taken on some water, he did feel bad about it for a moment. That was until her rolling eyes and muttering voice chose a not-so-nice word. Huffing quietly to himself, Kuroo swam the short distance back to shore before slipping out of the water. Making sure to keep his distance this time, he shook off his mottled coat before turning his attention back to the older lady. "Baka, pft, only wanted to take a swim to cool off," his smile did not falter as he tilted his head toward the blackened female. "Why would one sit by the edge if they did not want to take a swim?" Kuroo asks as he decides to play stupid. If she wanted to believe he was an idiot, he would play along. Shifting his weight on his paws until he was in a comfortable position, he let his legs scoop under him until he was sitting with his tail wrapped around his haunches. |
