This place was like nothing at all she'd ever seen before and she was thrilled to find this little waterlogged forest. Merrily she wove between the trunks of these strange mangrove trees, hopping from one small little island of dirt and mud to the next, eventually simply wading in the shallow water that separated each tree. The kind of plant and animal life here was fascinated - she felt tiny fish zipping by her toes as bugs drifted along the surface of the water, which was mostly still save for the movement of fish through it, as well as her own paws. A laugh of delight fell from her lips as she moved further out, finding a deeper section of water that lay further from any trees. The sand here was undisturbed, at least until she passed through and the water grew murky beneath her. For now she was content to enjoy the sights, though she was beginning to feel the telltale signs of hunger, only exacerbated by the sights of fish drifting along lazily between the roots of trees.

Gracing a muddy patch of smushed dirt, the splotched youngster lazily dipped a toe in the water. Taunting the fish that darted in and out of the roots from the trees surrounding him, hr laughed to himself. When a fish would get close with bulging eyes staring at his digit curiously, Kuroo would pluck it from the water. The surface would ripple and a splash of murky water would envelop the aquatic creatures. It was something fun to do to pass the time until he grew hungry. One of his ears flicked toward a quiet rustle of water whooshing around a larger body that surely wasn't a fish. Raising his pale gaze toward his surroundings, he peered into the dim shadows to see a younger girl looking intently at the wetness around her. A fishing buddy perhaps? Curious, Kuroo hopped up onto his paws and picked a careful jumping path over the large root growth toward her. Once he was close enough, he perched carefully on a wider root to smile at her. "Would ya enjoy some company? Could go for a couple of fish myself," he spoke with a thicker accent than most but at least his common tongue was understandable. |

Nami was so thoroughly enchanted by the strange waterlogged forest that she barely noticed when someone approached. Though she was good at keeping herself out of trouble, being observant of her surroundings was not her biggest strength and she looked temporarily bewildered when she heard the gentle splashing of water nearby. She too waded over to solid ground, flashing the male a friendly smile. The disturbed sand behind her slowly drifted back to the bottom of the water, the fish continuing to dart to and fro behind her. "Company sounds great," she admitted easily, her bobbed tail giving a little wiggle of approval. "Was hoping to catch a few fish for lunch. The name's Nami, by the way!" His accent didn't go unnoticed, but truthfully Nami was just happy for some company, and he seemed pleasant enough too.

He noticed her bewildered look and for a moment felt bad for startling her. But as her bobbed tail gave a wiggle and she smiled in his direction, Kuroo took that as a good thing. His own tail swished happily behind him as he smiled back with his eyes moving now toward the water. Watching the fish dart in and out of the root growth with a hazy cloud of mud in their wake, he could feel himself begin to focus in. "Nice to meet ya, Nami! I'm Kuroo," he said back pleasantly, eyes only flitting to her for a moment before going back toward the water. "Should be easy enough to catch some of these guys," his words were chipper as he was glad for the company himself. As he allowed his body to go still, he listened to the silence that fell around them. Both pale pink eyes on the shimmering surface, he waited a few moments for the perfect opportunity. Suddenly, he saw his opening and let his paws slide slowly off of the root he was perched on. Being as still and as careful as he could be, the silt beneath the water began to shift as his paws sunk in. Bracing himself for the chilliness, he made sure not to move too much. As he let the mud settle, he could see the fish swimming quickly in and out of his legs. How they didn't realize he wasn't a root was beyond him. No matter, he took this as his opportunity to dive nose first and snatch a fish before it could get away. When he brought his dripping wet muzzle back up, he turned to glance at Nami to see if she too had been successful. |

If she was a little alarmed by his company, the reaction faded as instantaneously as it appeared, replaced by a joyous smile. "Nice to meetcha too, Kuroo," she greeted him with a bubble of laughter. He was right, too - the fish here seemed like the were swimming lazily, probably largely used to being undisturbed. This forest seemed like a tranquil little place. "I think so too," she agreed, hunkering down on the patch of soggy soil she was perched upon, leaning over the water and focusing on the surface and what moved beneath it.
She was quiet and still for a long while, her little bobbed tail giving an occasional twitch as she watched the fish move. Entranced by them, it took her a long moment to finally strike, aiming for a big fat one that seemed like it'd make the best meal. The movement was fluid and swift as she dove face-first toward the water, and finally she emerged, soaking wet and beaming with a fat fish clamped firmly between her jaws.

With the fish's wiggling dying down to stillness, his gaze watched as Nami dove in headfirst to catch her plump fish. The water around them stirred in excitement as she went for the fish. Silt moved in a hazy cloud around his legs as he waited a few breathless moments. At first, he thought maybe she wouldn't be successful, but he was quickly proved wrong. Water splashed in droplets as the bob-tailed girl rose back up from the water. When she beamed at him with the fish between her jaws, he smiled around his. Her's definitely was plumper than his and Kuroo knew he should've tried for a bigger one. The fish he'd caught was small, maybe two bites worth, making it good for a snack. His belly grumbled something fierce as his mouth watered around his catch. Unable to resist, Kuroo hastily chewed and swallowed it within seconds. Licking the bits that hadn't quite gotten into his mouth, he let out a small laugh once he was finished. "Sorry, I couldn't help myself! Might need to catch a few more if you're not totally disgusted by me now," Kuroo joked as his eyes creased joyfully at the edges. |

Her bobbed tail wiggled furiously at her catch, and with it she let out a muffled little cry of joy. It seemed Kuroo had been successful too, and as she dropped hers to the ground she watched as he snatched one up - and quickly devoured it, without much hesitation. Instead of looking disgusted, Nami let out a little chortle of laughter. "Totally disgusted by you? As if," she dismissed his concerns entirely, quite liking his idea of snatching up a few more. Turning to her own fish she'd caught she ate it up quickly, surprised at how hungry she was. After she was finished and she lapped her lips clean she turned back to the water, though cast Kuroo a quick glance. "Are you from around here, then? Or just passin' through too?"
